An African college student transmigrates into a vampire. He initially wants to live a carefree life but ends up becoming a powerful minister supporting the dragon.
This tells the story of a v...
The Cage, this assassin organization, doesn't give the impression of being omnipresent or invincible. Rather, it's relentless.
Once a prey is targeted by the cage, it will likely face a prolonged pursuit if not eliminated immediately. The cage will relentlessly assassinate you until you are killed, or until the cage's losses exceed the amount offered by the prey.
Besides their persistence, another characteristic of the Cage is that they never target just one person. The target's family, servants, superiors and subordinates, even classmates, teachers, and fellow villagers—anyone connected to the target is on the Cage's assassination list. Once, there was a very skilled swordsman, Don Quixote, who offended the Teyra family for his chivalrous deeds. After the Teyra family found the Cage, and unable to immediately track him down, the Cage assassinated his lover, family, teacher, and even some of the poor people he had helped. Finally, they even massacred the entire village where the swordsman was born. Upon learning this, Don Quixote was filled with grief and anger; unable to avenge himself, he ultimately committed suicide.
This is why Cage insists on payment before work. But to this day, apart from the Duke of Field, it seems that no one on this land has escaped Cage's pursuit.
Will Yun Zhe be the next lucky one to escape the cage? Giddings is not optimistic. Most importantly, almost everyone knows that the financial backer behind the cage is actually the underground auction house "Midnight Just Right." And Omar Libby, whom Yun Zhe offended, is the second-in-command of "Midnight Just Right."
Giddings walked up to Ellie and told her everything he had discovered.
Surprisingly, Ellie wasn't scared after hearing this; in fact, she seemed relieved.
Ellie knew that Yun Zhe was unaware of the situation here, but his ruthlessness seemed to shatter the cage's perception. Clearly, Ellie's place wasn't Yun Zhe's primary concern. And this, perhaps, could offer some protection.
Ellie told Giddings her thoughts, but Giddings wasn't as optimistic as Ellie.
"The fact that the lord is not coming means that the situation on the lord's side is even worse and more troublesome. If I'm not mistaken, someone on the lord's side should also be making a move against him."
After listening to Giddings' words, Ellie became worried about Yun Zhe again. Just then, Gao's patrol came to Ellie's place, so Ellie asked Gao about Yun Zhe's situation.
"The master led a team to inspect the wells, fearing that someone might poison them during the holiday. We work in two-hour shifts, and the master should have finished his shift by now and be here soon." Gao spoke casually at first, but when he learned that it was the cage that attacked Ellie, he couldn't help but worry.
Not only was Gao worried about Ellie, but he was also concerned about his own safety. He didn't have the fighting skills of Yun Zhe or Ellie, and if he were attacked, he would probably have little chance of escaping.
Ellie saw through Gao's thoughts and comforted him, "Gao, don't worry too much. I believe Yunzhe will let things pass soon."
Gao nodded, but he didn't feel much relieved. He also couldn't think of any good way for Yun Zhe to deal with such an opponent.
Meanwhile, Yun Zhe was examining the assassin's body while pondering the same question.
A complete purge wouldn't be difficult for Yun Zhe, who could see into people's hearts; he could even leave it to Jelock. However, Yun Zhe knew that this wouldn't be a thorough cleansing, and the infiltration would be endless. As the saying goes, "You can be a thief for a thousand days, but you can't guard against a thief for a thousand days." This method was far too laborious and time-consuming, and its effectiveness was questionable. It could only be considered a middle-of-the-road strategy.
Compromise at this point would be a terrible mistake. Yun Zhe knew that showing weakness now would only lead to endless exploitation and even more excessive demands, making him even more passive and ultimately turning him into their lackey or puppet. These were things Yun Zhe absolutely did not want to see.
So where is the best course of action?
By the light of the torch, Yun Zhe could see that the two women had many tattoos on their bodies, but they had only one thing in common: a black square iron cage-shaped tattoo on their arms.
"Do you know what this pattern means?" Yun Zhe looked at Amang, who was holding a torch. Amang had clearly gasped earlier, which caught Yun Zhe's attention.
“My lord, this is the symbol of the Cage, an assassin organization. It’s a particularly… particularly troublesome assassin organization. But I believe that with your abilities, you should be able to handle it.” Aman said this, but in his heart he had already sentenced Yun Zhe to death.
Yun Zhe smiled. "It's an assassin organization, huh? That makes things easier. Maybe I can offer double the price and turn the tables."
Yun Zhe felt he had found the best strategy, but at that moment, a chill suddenly enveloped the area. The temperature change was so drastic that even the surrounding soldiers noticed the anomaly. White frost began to rise from the stone walls of the well, and tiny ice crystals slowly fell from the surrounding air. The earth turned a ghastly white, and worse, the area seemed completely isolated from the outside world, eerily quiet.
Yun Zhe understood that this was a so-called magical attack. Clearly, Josh, who had escaped, had informed the cage of the situation. The other side was obviously planning to deal with him in another way.
"Left and right teams, form a charge formation and attack from the left and right! Target: the military camp! Now, immediately!!"
Yun Zhe's orders and the rare discipline they had cultivated saved the lives of most of the still bewildered and curious soldiers. When they had assembled and were preparing to quickly evacuate the area near the well, there were no other unusual phenomena besides the cold. But soon, a fierce wind swept down from the sky, carrying snowflakes the size of blades. The rapid wind, mixed with ice, snow, and gravel, formed a ghastly, violent tornado that instantly ravaged the entire area.
