Chapter 302 Rumors Abound

The mercenary group's rapid expansion had actually sown many hidden dangers. However, at this moment, Yun Zhe had no mind to deal with these issues. Firstly, during the expansion phase, these problems could be ignored. Secondly, in Yun Zhe's view, these problems could be solved by making grand promises and other means. Therefore, he didn't pay much attention to them.

Morrison, however, kept reminding Yun Zhe to pay attention to these issues. Yun Zhe, in turn, readily handed these questions over to Morrison to handle freely. While Morrison was flattered, he immediately understood Yun Zhe's intention to be a hands-off manager, and thus became somewhat less pleased.

Morrison was curious: if everything was entrusted to them, what exactly was Yun Zhe going to do?

Before he could finish speaking, Yun Zhe smiled and looked at Morrison, as if talking to himself, "I have my own things to do too. For example, there's something right now about Ellie that I have to deal with personally. This is a difficult matter."

Morrison swallowed hard. He had his own thoughts about Ellie. He had also heard about Akdina; it was said that Akdina had secretly protected Yun Zhe when he was assassinated. So he wasn't particularly concerned about whether Ellie was a vampire. The fear of vampires had actually diminished considerably thanks to the efforts of generations of vampire hunters. He was more interested in knowing things like whether Ellie was any different from ordinary women.

Yun Zhe, however, was too lazy to pay attention to Morrison's gossipy thoughts. What troubled him more was that, regardless of whether people cared or not whether Ellie was a vampire, they all seemed to have already accepted that she was. The reason everyone was still relatively polite to Ellie was twofold: firstly, Yun Zhe's influence and strength, and secondly, the fact that Ellie hadn't actually done anything wrong. These two factors combined meant that even though everyone had accepted the situation, they were still giving Yun Zhe time to deal with the problem.

Ellie took it all in stride. She didn't care about being seen as a vampire; what she regretted was not finding that woman, which had put her in such a passive position.

"Why don't you just treat me like a vampire and deal with me? This kind of act is actually very simple, and it's not difficult to put on a show," Ellie discussed with Yun Zhe before going to bed that night.

"That's too simple. What I'm thinking of is finding a way to lure these people out and deal with them. Only by dealing with them can we truly solve the problem."

“Even if we expose them, it won’t change the fact that everyone thinks I’m a vampire.” Ellie was much happier to see Yun Zhe still defending her. But Ellie’s happiness was short-lived; she immediately pointed out the crux of the problem.

"Let's do both things at once. Proving they're framing you will prove you're not a vampire." Yun Zhe said it lightly, but he didn't have a good idea at the moment. But seeing Ellie's mournful look, he quickly comforted her.

Ellie gave a wry smile, not taking Yun Zhe's words seriously. Seeing that Yun Zhe's demeanor was completely different from his previous confident one, she knew he actually had no solution. She also knew that the chances of success were slim. Instead, she was already thinking about how to minimize the trouble for Yun Zhe.

Yun Zhe couldn't sense Ellie's thoughts, but judging from her expression, he could guess what she was thinking. "Don't overthink it. Things aren't that bad. If all else fails, we can just run away together. That would be perfect."

Ellie chuckled. "That's so fake. You're saying we'll run away together and then abandon our three kids? You're not going to take care of any of this?"

Yun Zhe scratched his head helplessly, realizing that his words of comfort were indeed somewhat unreliable. He couldn't think of anything better to say at the moment. Seeing Ellie's mood brighten, he felt there was no point in saying anything more.

"Hehehe," Yun Zhe laughed, "There will definitely be a way. At least I know how to force these people out. As for the rest, we'll take it one step at a time." Yun Zhe lay back, still feeling uncertain, but this time he hid it well, appearing completely confident.

Ellie sighed softly. This time she believed Yun Zhe's words, but she still couldn't see any hope for her future.

On the other hand, rumors about Ellie began to spread throughout the land of Donic, as did rumors about Akdina, the elven vampire, helping Yun Zhe, which quickly became the talk of the town.

Serena was quite surprised to hear these rumors. During lunch, she casually asked Xixi next to her, "Ellie is so beautiful, could she really be a vampire?"

Although Xixi was young, she was very shrewd and immediately saw through Serena's thoughts. She couldn't help but laugh and buried her face in the wooden bowl of rice.

Serena was very dissatisfied with Xixi's reaction and gave her a hard tap on the head. She pouted in dissatisfaction.

Xi Xi winced in pain, then her eyes darted around as she grinned mischievously, "I heard that the vampire elf is even more beautiful. Elves are beautiful to begin with, and a vampire makes her even more extraordinary."

Serena glared at Xixi fiercely, "You actually believed that kind of talk? You...you really have no judgment."

Xi Xi laughed even harder. She leaned to the side, distancing herself from Serena, and said with a smile, "You're talking about me? You're the one who actually believed me, aren't you?"

Serena raised her hand again, but seeing that Xixi had already distanced herself, she lowered it dejectedly. "Yun Zhe seems to be quite popular with vampires."

"Hmph," Xixi said, slightly displeased, "Maybe he's a vampire. I've heard that older vampires can control younger ones, so maybe he's controlling these two..."

Serena truly didn't believe this. In her mind, if Yun Zhe was a vampire, he was a good one. Controlling vampires to do lewd things didn't sound like Yun Zhe's behavior at all. But... Serena thought again, after all, Ellie and that elven female vampire were both very beautiful.

Anxiety about her appearance quickly took over Serena's mind. She frowned, looked at the rice in her bowl, and immediately lost the desire to eat any more.

When Xixi saw Serena push her rice bowl away, she immediately understood Serena's anxiety.

"It's no use. If you don't eat, the places where you should gain weight will be even less likely to gain weight, hmph." Xixi hit the nail on the head.

Serena wasn't angry at all. She snorted loudly, made a face at Xixi, and said, "I still have more hope than you!"

Holding her bowl, Xixi, who was getting on in years, was starting to worry about how flat her figure was. Hearing Serena's words, she was furious, but seeing Serena's expression, she had nowhere to vent her anger and could only angrily stuff a big mouthful of rice into her mouth.

Seeing this, Serena also stuffed a big mouthful of rice into her mouth.
