The decadent second-generation rich kid and the fallen female basketball star grow together, striving for glory for the country. The light of glory is light, and the light of kindness is also light...
"Wait for me, huff... huff." Lu Yu was panting heavily. She had been suffering from insomnia for many days, and her body was really weak today. She was already feeling exhausted.
When faced with a lifeline, how can you keep someone without something attractive? Lu Yu didn't care whether the other person was in a big or small matter, and directly said, "Jiao Yuyin, right? Someone is following you."
Jiao Yuyin's pupils dilated.
The next second, Lu Yu received an elbow strike to the chest and shoulder, felt a sharp pain in his wrist, and was pinned down by Jiao Yuyin's single hand, forced into the shadows around the corner. The thought vanished, replaced by an interrogation: "Whose side are you on?"
Lu Yu hadn't expected the other party's stress response to be so swift and...intense.
Pressing her cheek against the rough white-painted brick surface, she both enjoyed a moment of peace in her mind and frowned at the stinging pain in her wrists, neck, and cheeks.
"Oh my god! It's still on my right hand and right cheek, it hurts so much."
Perhaps it was her weak appearance that made the man lower his guard a little, as he loosened his grip on her wrist, though his tone still carried an interrogative tone. "Tell me your real name, identity, and motive for following me."
A tear welled up in Lu Yu's eye. "Lu Yu is my real name. I'm not the one stalking you, though there are plenty of others like that on the street. I mean you no harm. Could you please relax a bit?"
Lu Yu shifted her feet and adjusted her posture, trying to reduce the friction on her right cheek.
My wrist is an old injury that hasn't healed and I've gotten a new one. At least I should try to save my face; a pig-faced look doesn't look good.
Jiao Yuyin released his left hand from Lu Yu's neck, but his right hand remained firmly gripping Lu Yu's wrist.
Lu Yu straightened up and continued speaking to the white wall, "Don't be scared when I tell you this. First of all, I'm not crazy. I am. I can read minds. I know your name because I overheard several people's thoughts about your name on the way here. They said you were scared silly by the crazy woman. I figured they were probably talking about us. Hehehehe."
Lu Yu laughed awkwardly, showing it to the wall.
"Do I look like an idiot?" Jiao Yuyin's voice was tense.
“Of course you’re not stupid, otherwise why would someone go to such lengths to follow you, and why would you have such a foolish subordinate lying in wait nearby?” Lu Yu picked out the thoughts she had just overheard and revealed them, trying to persuade the other party.
After waiting for a while, with her hands still restrained, Lu Yu asked again, "What, you don't believe me?"
Jiao Yuyin finally reacted. "Then tell me what I'm thinking right now, prove it to me, and I'll believe you."
This put Lu Yu in a difficult position, as she couldn't hear Jiao Yuyin's thoughts at all.
“If it’s your opinion, I can’t prove it.” Lu Yu moved her wrist and said, “Let go of me, and I can prove it to you through other people. It will only take a few seconds. I won’t move, and I’ll still be facing the white wall, okay?”
Jiao Yuyin was skeptical, so he loosened his grip and took a step back.
Lu Yu faced the brick wall and spoke slowly: "Across the street, a mother and child are going to get ice cream; to the west, a man is sitting on a bench with blisters on his feet, but he has decided to walk to the subway station and he will get up soon; two girls are about to come over here to take pictures; and, the two of us have already attracted attention, and the owner of the clothing store across the street is hesitating whether to call the police."
Jiao Yuyin glanced at it. The next half minute made Jiao Yuyin break out in a cold sweat.
A young mother led her little boy into a pink-decorated ice cream shop;
A middle-aged man in a white shirt, carrying a laptop bag, limped towards the subway station.
Two girls wearing sun hats walked closer, chatting and laughing.
Jiao Yuyin was genuinely startled and jumped back as if he had been electrocuted, increasing the distance between himself and Lu Yu.
The perfectly matched scene unfolded before his eyes, leaving him no choice but to believe it. "So you're here to probe my thoughts? What's your purpose?"
Lu Yu turned around and looked directly at Jiao Yuyin. "Don't worry, you're the only one whose thoughts I can't hear. You are my target."
She ignored Jiao Yuyin's astonished expression, took a step closer, and breathed softly. "Do you know there are thirteen people following you around here? Your incompetent teammates can't help you."
Lu Yu smiled, waiting for the other party's response.
Seeing Jiao Yuyin's hesitant expression, Lu Yu delivered the fatal blow. "Too many people are watching you. Let's find somewhere else to talk. I'll help you escape the surveillance network. Do you dare to come with me?"
Lu Yu's thumbnail was pressed against the knuckle of his index finger, waiting for a response.
Jiao Yuyin stared at her thoughtfully, his dark pupils piercing her skin, more scorching than sunlight. She, Lu Yu, was clearly the one who could read minds, so why was she losing so much of her aura?
The man finally nodded, his expression inscrutable.
Lu Yu pretended to be calm, patted his hoodie to shake off the white dirt, and walked away.
"Keep up, keep heading north. There are a lot of people watching you from the south and west. And..."
Lu Yu pointed to the earphone hanging on Jiao Yuyin's left ear. "You should hang up that call. He's not as reliable as me."
