In the corridors of St. Ying Academy, Yu Jiu Yuan always wore a perfectly fitting innocent smile, like a harmless lily of the vall...

Chapter 30 Clash on the Snowy Road

Yu Jiuyuan reacted extremely quickly, stabilizing Yuan Xu's shoulder with her left hand while simultaneously grabbing the safety handrail on the roof with her right hand.

As the screeching sound of brakes rang out, she used the momentum to lean to the side, precisely avoiding the weight of Yuan Xu as he pressed down on her, while simultaneously using her elbow to protect the incubator in his arms.

"Are you alright?" Yu Jiuyuan's voice was unusually calm. Her gaze had already swept across the dashboard, confirming that the vehicle had only skidded slightly and had not hit the guardrail.

Yuan Xu finally came to her senses. Looking at the incubator in her arms, which was unharmed, and then at Yu Jiuyuan's collarbone where the seatbelt had left red marks, her eyes suddenly reddened: "I...I'm fine...I was too careless."

He reached out to touch the red mark, but stopped halfway and awkwardly withdrew his hand.

Yu Jiuyuan smiled and took out a tissue to wipe the snow splashed on his cheek: "It's just a small accident, don't worry." Her fingertips were cool, and when she wiped Yuan Xu's cheek, the boy's breathing clearly skipped a beat.

On the system panel, Yuan Xu's favorability rating jumped to 73, and her "positive" emotion value soared to 75 like a rocket. Yu Jiuyuan smiled with satisfaction; this unexpected turn of events had turned out to be a happy accident.

The cars behind quickly caught up, and Rong Shenghan got out first, walking briskly over to them: "What happened?"

His gaze immediately fell on Yu Jiuyuan's collarbone, his brows furrowing slightly, and his tone carrying a barely perceptible tension, "Are you injured?"

"It's nothing, just slippery." Yu Jiuyuan pushed open the car door and got out, her movements as elegant as if the danger had never happened. "The driver said there was thin ice on the road ahead, so we have to drive slowly."

Xie Zhecheng also came over, holding a speedometer in his hand, and said to the driver with a blank expression: "From now on, the speed cannot exceed 40 kilometers per hour, and you must report the vehicle status every five minutes."

His gaze swept over Yu Jiuyuan, lingering for half a second on the red mark on her collarbone, before he took out a black silk handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to her, saying, "Put this on."

The scarf is made of pure wool, with the Big Dipper pattern embroidered on the edges, which is the logo of the Astronomy Club.

When Yu Jiuyuan took it, her fingertips touched his slightly cool fingertips. On the system panel, Xie Zhecheng's favorability was still 10, but his "positive" emotion value had increased from 55 to 57.

"Thank you." Yu Jiuyuan tied the silk scarf around her neck, just enough to cover the red mark.

Lin Yanran was the last to get off the car. He glanced at the disheveled driver, then looked at Yu Jiuyuan, who was being protected by Xie Zhecheng, and suddenly sneered: "Useless, can't even drive properly."

Yu Jiuyuan gave him a cold look: "If you think you're good at driving, you can come and drive."

Lin Yanran's face flushed instantly. How could he possibly drive such a four-wheel drive SUV? But under Yu Jiuyuan's gaze, he couldn't bring himself to back down, so he could only stubbornly say, "Fine, I'll drive then. Who's afraid of who?"

"Alright, stop fooling around." Rong Shenghan smoothed things over at the right moment, pulling Lin Yanran aside and whispering something to her.

Lin Yanran's expression changed. Although she was still unwilling, she didn't insist anymore, but just glared at the driver.

Yu Jiuyuan stared thoughtfully at Rong Shenghan's retreating figure.

He couldn't hear what Lin Yanran had just said because of the distance, but judging from Lin Yanran's reaction, it was clear that he had hit a nerve. This vice president, who had transferred here, seemed to know everyone at Saint Sakura better than he had imagined.

When they started again, the convoy was moving much slower.

Yu Jiuyuan changed cars and rode with Rong Shenghan and Lin Yanran. Xie Zhecheng drove in the back, while Yuan Xu held his incubator and sat obediently in the passenger seat.

"Thank you for earlier." Lin Yanran's muffled voice broke the silence in the carriage.

He looked out the window at the fleeting snow scene, his profile softened in the morning light. "Rong Shenghan said... if I anger the chairman again, my dad will freeze my credit cards."

Yu Jiuyuan raised an eyebrow and looked at Rong Shenghan, who was adjusting the car stereo. He returned her an innocent smile, as if he wasn't the one who had just threatened Lin Yanran.

"Uncle Lin is doing this for your own good." Yu Jiuyuan said calmly, but her gaze fell on the system panel. Lin Yanran's favorability rating was still 3, but the "negative" emotion value dropped from 25 to 20.

It seems that his reverence for his father was far deeper than she had imagined.

Rong Shenghan suddenly switched to a piano piece, its melody soothing and beautiful—Debussy's "Clair de Lune." He looked at Yu Jiuyuan and smiled, saying, "Does the president like this piece? I bet you will."

Yu Jiuyuan didn't answer, but just looked out the window.

The snow-covered landscape of Changbai Mountain shimmered in the morning light, like a carpet of broken diamonds. She suddenly remembered that snowy night last night, and the man standing under the starry sky, his eyes holding a deep, hidden smile.

“Rong Shenghan,” she suddenly spoke, her voice as soft as snowflakes falling on the palm of your hand, “what exactly do you want from me?”

The music in the carriage seemed to have been paused, and even Lin Yanran looked at her in surprise.

Rong Shenghan's smile faded slightly. He turned his head and looked intently into Yu Jiuyuan's eyes.

The morning light streamed through the car window, casting dappled shadows on his face. For the first time, his usually smiling, almond-shaped eyes revealed a genuine emotion—a mixture of inquiry, interest, and a barely perceptible air of determination.

“What if I said,” he paused, his voice as deep as the bass strings of a cello, “that I want everything from the chairman?”

Lin Yanran sat up abruptly, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on: "What nonsense are you talking about!"

Yu Jiuyuan smiled, a smile that seemed innocent and harmless, but her eyes were icy cold: "The vice president's ambitions are quite considerable."
