In the corridors of St. Ying Academy, Yu Jiu Yuan always wore a perfectly fitting innocent smile, like a harmless lily of the vall...

Chapter 33 Jealousy

The morning mist over Changbai Mountain had not yet dissipated, and a thin layer of frost clung to the wooden walkway of the observation base.

Yu Jiuyuan walked towards the cafeteria through the dew, the hood of her windbreaker brushing against her ear tips, bringing a slightly cool and itchy sensation.

Her fingertips unconsciously traced the fabric on her waist that Xie Zhecheng had touched in his panic yesterday, a barely perceptible smile playing on her lips.

In the system panel, Xie Zhecheng's positive emotions have stabilized at 93. This "perfectionist" pawn has finally revealed a flaw that can be exploited.

"Good morning, Chairman Yu."

A clear voice rang out from behind her, carrying her usual gentle smile. When Yu Jiuyuan turned around, the calculation on her face had completely vanished, leaving only a perfectly balanced brightness: "Vice President Rong, so early?"

Rong Shenghan was wearing a beige knitted cardigan with a matching windbreaker over it, looking exceptionally fresh compared to the other members who were bundled up tightly.

He was holding two cups of hot soy milk, and handed me one: "I just got it from the kitchen, it's still hot."

Yu Jiuyuan took the soy milk, her fingertips touching the warmth of the paper cup, and her smile deepened: "Thanks, you're always so thoughtful."

She lowered her head and took a sip of soy milk, the sweet aroma and warmth sliding down her throat. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught Rong Shenghan's gaze passing over her shoulder and landing on the observation platform not far away.

There, Xie Zhecheng was checking today's observation data with two other members, his profile appearing pale and serene in the morning light.

"President Xie and the others are certainly diligent." Rong Shenghan's voice remained calm, revealing no emotion. "They observed until dawn yesterday, and they're up this early today?"

“Yes, he’s very strict about the data.” Yu Jiuyuan continued, speaking as if she were talking about the weather. “After all, it’s not easy to come to Changbai Mountain this time, so he probably wants to collect as much information as possible.”

As she spoke, Xie Zhecheng happened to turn around, his gaze inadvertently sweeping over her. When it touched Yu Jiuyuan, he quickly looked away as if he had been burned, but a very faint blush appeared on his ears.

Yu Jiuyuan took in the whole scene and understood. Yesterday's sudden kiss had clearly left quite a ripple in the heart of this perfectionist.

“It seems you two got along well yesterday,” Rong Shenghan suddenly said.

Yu Jiuyuan looked up and met his smiling eyes. The smile was still gentle, but his eyes seemed to be veiled in a thin mist, making them difficult to see clearly.

She subtly changed the subject: "By the way, I've finished compiling the student council reports. I'll let you take a look when I get back."

"No rush." Rong Shenghan shook his head, his gaze lingering on her lips for half a second before slowly moving away. "But last night, it seemed quite lively at the observatory? I heard from a member that someone made a wish upon a shooting star?"

Yu Jiuyuan's heart skipped a beat. She had anticipated Xie Zhecheng's reaction, but she hadn't expected Rong Shenghan to pay attention to these details. This vice president always seemed to catch the most crucial information unexpectedly.

"Yeah, everyone finds it interesting." She laughed openly, deliberately revealing a bit of girlish playfulness. "I even joked with President Xie, saying I wished to see him smile."

She deliberately omitted the kiss, only mentioning the harmless parts. A perfect lie is never entirely fabricated, but rather based on the truth, with the unnecessary details removed.

Rong Shenghan nodded and didn't ask any further questions. He simply raised his hand to tidy up her bangs that had been messed up by the wind.

His fingertips were very light, barely touching her skin, but the gesture carried an irresistible intimacy: "It's windy in the mountains, don't catch a cold."

Just then, a small commotion suddenly came from Xie Zhecheng's side.

One of the members accidentally knocked over the equipment box, scattering the star charts all over the floor.

Xie Zhecheng frowned and squatted down to pick it up. His movements were a little hurried, and his sleeve got wet from the dew on the ground.

Yu Jiuyuan walked over almost instinctively: "I'll help you."

She crouched down and picked up the star chart with Xie Zhecheng.

When their fingers occasionally touched, Xie Zhecheng would always pull his hand back as if he had been electrocuted, his movements stiff and ridiculous.

Yu Jiuyuan seemed oblivious, picking up the data as she said softly, "I looked at yesterday's star trail data. There are a few sets of parameters that are particularly beautiful. If you need any help when you're organizing them, you can ask me."

Xie Zhecheng lowered his head, his voice muffled in his throat: "No need."

"Don't be so polite." Yu Jiuyuan looked up at him, a sly smile in her eyes. "Aren't we friends?"

The moment the word "friend" left his lips, Xie Zhecheng abruptly stopped, nearly crumpling the star chart he was holding between his fingers. He looked up at her, his eyes filled with complex emotions—surprise, confusion, and a hint of expectation he himself wasn't even aware of.

Yu Jiuyuan met his gaze, smiling openly and innocently.

This scene was witnessed by Rong Shenghan, who was not far away. His fingers, holding the soy milk, tightened slightly, leaving a shallow mark on the paper cup.

Sunlight streamed through the morning mist onto his face, making his gentle smile appear almost transparent, and something seemed to be subtly changing deep within his eyes.

"President Yu," his voice suddenly rang out, breaking the delicate atmosphere in front of the observation deck, "there's something going on with the student council, would you like to come along and take a look?"

Yu Jiuyuan turned around and saw Rong Shenghan standing there, his face still bearing that approachable smile. But for some reason, she felt there was something more to that smile. Was it just her imagination?

"Now?" she asked, somewhat surprised. "Weren't we supposed to deal with it this afternoon?"

"I just remembered I forgot to sign a document." Rong Shenghan said casually, but his gaze swept over Xie Zhecheng almost imperceptibly. "It'll be done soon, it won't delay your help to President Xie."

His tone was so natural, so natural, as if he genuinely cared about work. But who was Yu Jiuyuan? Her sensitivity to emotions far exceeded that of ordinary people.
