"Xiao Wan, there will definitely be some negative impacts after you come back. Be prepared," her aunt said worriedly.

"Yes, I know. I'm going back to China tomorrow night, and I'll visit you and Grandma the day after tomorrow to wish them a Happy New Year."

"No rush, Grandma knows you're busy with work. Come back and rest before we talk."

"Okay, bye-bye, Auntie."

I felt drowsy as I got into the car.

He raised his arm and pulled me into his embrace, asking gently in a low voice, "How about we go to my place? I'll go back for a bit and then come over to keep you company later. Your place is too far from Su Garden."

I frowned and said with concern, "Myna has been cooped up at home for many days. Although you arranged for someone to go for a walk with it every day, it's still quite lonely the rest of the time."

Su Shenglin frowned, then chuckled and sighed, "I forgot you also have a dog..."

He paused for a moment and then said, "I'll have someone go and bring the myna bird to the villa."

It's okay to be apart for one night.

I quickly ate my fill and then got back to work on my computer.

With Su Shenglin accompanying me on this long journey, and in the comfortable first class, I didn't suffer much during the trip.

I also took a nap on the way to the villa.

So even though it's late at night, I'm not sleepy at all because of the time difference and having rested.

Working until 1 a.m., there was still no sign of Su Shenglin returning downstairs.

I started to feel uneasy, worried that something might have happened to the Su family.

After washing up, I snuggled into bed and casually picked up a book from my bedside table. Around 2 a.m., I suddenly heard the sound of a car downstairs.

The sleepiness I had just been building up suddenly vanished. I rolled out of bed, parted the curtains, and looked out into the courtyard.

It really is Su Shenglin who's back!

As if by telepathy, he looked up at me, and we looked at each other across the distance, both of us smiling at each other.

He came in and went upstairs; I was already waiting by the elevator.

As soon as he came out, I smiled and went to greet him, and the two of us kissed in perfect unison.

It was only then that I realized how wise his decision was.

If he hadn't brought me here and had instead sent me back, I definitely wouldn't be able to sleep alone tonight either.

So this is what it feels like to be in love and miss someone terribly if you don't see them for a day.

We kissed all the way from the elevator to the bedroom.
