There are consequences to being a traitorous official.
First: Being born into a loyal official's family. She felt out of place and uncomfortable all over.
Second: Following her loya...
The next morning, when Master Xuanzhen opened his eyes, he saw Fourteen with dark circles under his eyes sitting by his bedside, staring at him.
Master Xuanzhen shifted further into the bed. Could this brat have guessed he was behind last night's events and was coming to settle scores? Just to be safe, he'd better bring out his precious disciple first. "Ahem! Why aren't you practicing your martial arts? If you don't, be careful Hei Bao beats you up."
Upon hearing the name "Hei Bao," Fourteen's face flushed red. He'd lived two lives, and now he had to rely on a dream to understand his own feelings. However, this couldn't be blamed on him; in his previous life, he'd spent almost all his energy battling his sixth sister.
Master Xuanzhen knew from Fourteen's expression that his hard work last night had not been in vain. "You brat, why is your face so red? Are you sick? I'll go and fetch a doctor for you."
After saying that, Master Xuanzhen tried to slip away. This brat had been waiting by his bedside for so long; he either wanted to settle scores with him or wanted him to help him come up with a solution.
Unfortunately, he had barely put on his shoes when Fourteen took his coat away. "Master, why does it seem like you're a little guilty?"
"..." You little rascal, you're quite clever. You're even clever when it comes to relationships.
Master Xuanzhen glared at Fourteen. "Are you still half asleep? Why would your master feel guilty? Your master is just worried about you."
Fourteen didn't believe it. He was just a figurehead to his master; his master wouldn't rush to fetch a doctor for him just because he blushed slightly. "Thank you, Master. Master, please sit down. I have something important to tell you."
Master Xuanzhen didn't want to listen; once he did, this brat would pester him. This brat was incredibly annoying when he started pestering people. "What important matter could you possibly have? Alright, hurry up and go practice your skills, or Hei Bao will come looking for you."
Seeing Master Xuanzhen's demeanor, Fourteen couldn't help but wonder if his master knew why he had come to see him. "Master, do you know what your disciple wants to tell you?"
"How would I know? I'm not your sixth sister. Alright, if you have something to say, wait until we get back to the capital and tell your sixth sister. If you can't wait, write to your sixth sister."
The 14th has been confirmed!
His master knew why he came to find him.
Fourteen looked into Master Xuanzhen's eyes and said, "Master, I like Hei Bao, and I want to marry Hei Bao."
"..." My disciples are all debts!
Master Xuanzhen looked at Fourteen with a face full of surprise and said, "You like Hei Bao?! How could you like Hei Bao?! Hei Bao is so fierce!"
Fourteen's face turned red again. "Blackie isn't fierce."
"Why aren't you being fierce? My disciple, wouldn't you like to reconsider?"
"No need. Master, I have a favor to ask of you."
Master Xuanzhen thought to himself, "My disciples are all a burden." "What is it? Speak."
"Could you tell Hei Bao that his disciple likes her and wants to marry her?"
Master Xuanzhen refused immediately. "No. If you like Hei Bao, you can tell her yourself."
"I...I'm embarrassed."
"What's there to be embarrassed about? You two have known each other since you were kids."
"It's precisely because we're so familiar with each other that I feel embarrassed."
"If you're really too embarrassed, then..."
Fourteen thought that Master Xuanzhen would say, "Then I'll say it for you." But Master Xuanzhen said instead, "Then you just wait for Hei Bao to be kidnapped by that brat surnamed Du."
Fourteen: "..." He knew that he was just a figurehead to his master, with no real status whatsoever. "Master, I am your disciple. Can you bear to see me heartbroken?"
"Heartless."
"..." I can't keep this master. "Master, you can't do this to me."
"able."
"Master, didn't you want some special medicinal herbs? Your disciple will find them for you."
"No need. I've already spoken to your sixth sister. She's more capable than you."
"..." This master is truly unacceptable. He neither opposes nor helps him, and even discourages him. "Master, your disciple is heartbroken."
Master Xuanzhen tapped Fourteen once with his whisk. "You brat, if you want a wife, go and coax her yourself. Look how attentive that brat surnamed Du is!"
Fourteen also wanted to be like Young Master Du, but he had never coaxed a girl before, and he was afraid of making things worse.
Seeing his master's firm refusal to help him, Fourteen thought of how he had discovered his feelings for Hei Bao. Perhaps Hei Bao felt the same way—liked him but unaware of it. "Master," he said, "do you know how I discovered my own feelings?"
Of course I know, but I can't let that brat know. Otherwise, he'll take advantage of the situation. "You must have gotten annoyed seeing that brat surnamed Du always hanging around Hei Bao, and that's when you realized you liked Hei Bao."
"No. I had a dream last night..." Fourteen recounted his dream. "Master, could you let Hei Bao dream that I'm marrying another woman?"
"No," Master Xuanzhen answered decisively, because he truly couldn't do it alone.
"Master, please think of something. Master, I am your own disciple."
“Hei Bao is my true disciple. You’re just a bystander.”
“Master, how can you say that? Master, please help me. I know you are very capable.”
If he helps this brat, he'll immediately realize that it was him who caused trouble last night. "Don't flatter your teacher; I'm a human, not a god."
"Master, please think of a way."
"I didn't expect that. Alright, stop bothering your teacher. I need to start washing up."
"Your disciple will serve you."
"Need not."
"Master, please don't do this. Master, how about you just let me and Hei Bao get married? You are Hei Bao's and my master, it would be perfectly reasonable for you to let us get married."
