Chapter 376 Joy, Shock, and Angry
"Good girl." Gou Dan took a book and put it in Wei Cheng'er's little paw. "Since God gave us the talent of photographic memory, let's not waste it, or we'll lose out."
"Alright." It wasn't that Wei Cheng'er didn't want to learn, but she was intimidated by the height of the stack of books. "Besides these, can I also learn martial arts?"
"Of course. The girls in my maternal grandfather's family and my Uncle Hei and Uncle Bai's families all know martial arts and are both literate and skilled in martial arts."
Wei Cheng'er was overjoyed. "Brother, you're so kind. Brother, I will definitely finish reading all these books within ten days."
"Okay. Come on, let's read together."
Here, Wei Cheng'er is living a fulfilling and happy life.
On the other hand, the Duchess of Wei and her two daughters-in-law were not in a very good mood.
Ning, Wei Cheng'er's mother, was thinking about something when a maid came in and said that Zhang, the old woman who served the Duchess of Wei, had arrived.
Ning quickly cheered herself up and had someone invite Zhang Mama in.
Zhang Mama bowed to Ning Shi. "Greetings, Madam. Madam, the Old Madam requests your presence."
"Alright. What does the old lady need me for?"
"This old servant doesn't know. Madam, would you like to go now or..."
"I'll be right there."
Granny Zhang stepped aside to make way for her. "Madam, please."
Soon, Ning arrived at the courtyard of the Duke of Wei's wife.
When Lady Wei saw Ning arrive, she immediately asked, "I heard that Steward Zhao suddenly returned. Did you ask him why he came back? Is something wrong with Cheng'er?"
Ning thought to herself, "You want to know if that troublemaker is dead or not, right?" Then she looked at the Duchess of Wei and said, "Reporting to Mother, I asked. Steward Zhao said Cheng'er is fine."
The Duchess was very disappointed. "Then why did he come back?" she said, adding that he had made her happy for nothing.
“I don’t know about that. I asked him but he wouldn’t tell me. He’s my father’s man, so I can’t force him to tell me.”
Just as Ning finished speaking, Wei Cheng'er's aunt, Jia, rushed in. "Mother, I heard that after Steward Zhao met Father, Father took him to the Dali Temple. Mother, did Cheng'er get into trouble? Cheng'er is strong, and his brain... his brain... what if... what if..."
After hearing Jia's words, both the Duchess and Lady Ning wished that Wei Cheng'er had really caused trouble.
Unfortunately, just as they finished thinking about it, the Duke of Wei walked in from outside with a smile. "What are you saying? How could Cheng'er cause trouble? Cheng'er is so smart."
Lady Wei, Ning, and Jia: "..." That troublemaker is still smart even though he's been burned silly?
Duke Wei sat down in a chair. "Alright, go about your business. Cheng'er is fine, you don't need to worry about him."
The Duchess, Lady Ning, and Lady Jia: I don't want her to be well; if she is well, I will not be well.
Madam Jia patted her chest. "Then I'm relieved. I thought Cheng'er had beaten up some important person."
The Duchess thought to herself, "The scourge lives on for a thousand years," and then looked at the Duke of Wei and asked, "Why did Steward Zhao suddenly return?"
Duke Wei waved his hand. "Don't ask about that." The matter of the Crown Prince shouldn't be discussed carelessly. "Anyway, Cheng'er is doing well."
Having said that, the Duke of Wei stood up again. "No, I have to go find some good things for Cheng'er. Cheng'er is too capable." He could just grab anyone and they'd become the Crown Prince. Hahahaha…
Duke Wei left with a smile.
The Duchess, along with Ning and Jia, made a decision in their hearts at the same time: that troublemaker could not be allowed to live; even though he was stupid, he could still make the Duke so happy.
Time flies, and half a month has passed in the blink of an eye.
Sisi was reading a letter when Ning Yirong walked in carrying a basket of fruit. "Wife, the grapes are ripe. Do you want some? I'll peel them for you if you do."
Sisi replied while reading the letter, "Okay."
Ning Yirong washed his hands, peeled a grape, and held it to Sisi's lips. "Did Gou Dan send a letter?"
"Hmm. Dog Egg wants us to be the bad guys."
"You brat. Open your mouth."
After Sisi opened her mouth, Ning Yirong put the grape in it. "Is it sweet?"
Sisi tasted it. "Sweet."
"Then I'll peel it for you."
Ning Yirong waited until Sisi had finished eating before asking, "Why did Gou Dan make us be the bad guys? Can't he be the bad guy himself?"
Sisi picked a grape and held it to Ning Yirong's lips. "Because the little girl is afraid that her grandfather will be sad, and he feels that the little girl is being wronged, so he wants us to help the little girl get revenge for him."
Ning Yirong popped a grape into his mouth. "What kind of girl is so charming?"
Sisi glanced at Ning Yirong. "He's only eight years old."
Ning Yirong: "..." What a disappointment. "What wronged the little girl?"
Sisi gave a brief explanation.
After hearing this, Ning Yirong thought the Duke of Wei was incredibly foolish, unable to even protect his beloved granddaughter. Unlike him, whose minister was alive and well despite so many people wanting to kill him. "The Duke of Wei is Father Emperor's subordinate; I'll greet Father Emperor."
"Hmm." Sisi plucked another grape and held it to Ning Yirong's lips. "Is Father urging you to ascend the throne again?"
"Yes. Father said either you ascend the throne or you give him a granddaughter. I told Father that we shouldn't think about a granddaughter, but we could think about a great-granddaughter."
"And then what did Father say?"
"Then Father said he was going to complain to your grandfather. He said that we neither gave him a granddaughter nor allowed him to enjoy his old age."
"It seems our good days are coming to an end."
"Yes. Why don't you think Father Emperor coveted power?"
