As the long-lost son of the Lu family in Jiangzhou, Lu Yi originally thought this was heaven's favor upon him, but the truth was far from it.

Seventeen years of destitution did not earn h...

Chapter 245 Gu Huainan Doesn't Call Me Brother Yi

Upon hearing Ruan Jiaojiao bring this up, Lu Baoyun turned her head and covered her mouth, saying, "That's not true, don't talk nonsense!"

She glanced at Gu Huainan's dazed face out of the corner of her eye, coughed, and hurriedly turned and left.

"You guys go ahead and eat. I have to do inventory tonight, so I won't join in the fun!"

Gu Huainan scratched his head and looked at Lu Yi.

Seeing his knowing, yet smug expression, he shouted, "You...you all don't all think that Baoyun and I..."

Ruan Jiaojiao raised an eyebrow.

"A lone man and a lone woman sleeping together in the same bed? There's something fishy going on!"

Lu Yi stood up, patted the dust off his trousers, punched his chest, and teased, "Yeah, Huainan, do you think you're Liu Xiahui?"

Gu Huainan irritably pulled at his hair.

This misunderstanding will probably never be resolved in this lifetime.

He was indeed drunk at the time, but he got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and then habitually went into the bedroom.

Mistaking Lu Baoyun for Lu Yi, he lifted the covers and crawled inside.

He slept soundly until dawn, until he heard someone chuckling above his head. When he first saw Lu Yi's face, he realized he had hugged the wrong person.

He slowly turned his head and saw Lu Baoyun, who was fast asleep. Suddenly, he remembered something.

Lu Baoyun has a very low alcohol tolerance.

After finishing a glass of wine, she complained of a headache. Ruan Jiaojiao, annoyed by her spoiling the mood, hoisted her onto her shoulder and carried her into the bedroom...

Seeing that Lu Baoyun also seemed to have a serious misunderstanding, he glared at Lu Yi and Ruan Jiaojiao a few times in annoyance before going after Lu Baoyun.

...

Gu Keke hadn't seen Lu Yi for several days, and she threw a little tantrum at the dinner table.

"Lu Yi, I sent you a message, why didn't you reply?"

"I didn't understand."

"You can't believe I didn't see that obvious anger on your face!"

With her hands on her hips, Gu Keke's pointed little hat made her look just like an apprentice witch from an animation.

"I believe that Coco, because I didn't understand it either."

Ruan Jiaojiao sipped her drink and nudged Lu Baoyun, who was engrossed in eating, with her elbow. "You didn't understand either, did you?"

Lu Baoyun shook her head, then nodded.

"That's just a bunch of special characters piled up together. I really can't tell that you're angry."

Gu Keke frowned, shaking Gu Huainan's arm in a coquettish way that gave one goosebumps.

"Second brother, look how they're bullying me! I'm clearly very angry, extremely angry, but they don't even understand..."

"Look, this is the angriest message I sent to Lu Yi. Aren't you very angry?"

Gu Huainan took her phone and instantly felt like someone was stuffing yarn into his head.

"I...can't tell either!"

Gu Keke was speechless with anger. "Fine, Lu Yi, I'll ask you again. Why did you refuse when I used my second brother's phone to ask you out?"

Ruan Jiaojiao's sipping of her drink stopped abruptly.

The sweet and sour pork ribs in Lu Baoyun's hand fell onto the bone plate with a thud.

Gu Huainan looked at his unreliable younger sister with surprise, completely bewildered. "You stole my phone?"

Gu Keke pressed her soft little hand against his arm.

"Don't worry, I didn't see you refuse Lin Xiaoya's dinner invitation, nor did I see any message apologizing to Baoyun for sleeping in the same bed with her!"

The area around the dining table was completely silent.

Gu Keke continued talking to herself, not noticing that Lu Baoyun seemed relieved, as if she had let go of something, because of what she had just said.

After slowly exhaling, he put down his chopsticks.

This subtle movement startled Gu Huainan, who hesitated to speak.

Ruan Jiaojiao just watched the spectacle, "Lu Yi, why did you even reject Gu Huainan?"

Lu Yi noticed the barely perceptible bitterness on Lu Baoyun's lips and uttered a few words, "Gu Huainan doesn't call me Brother Yi!"

Gu Keke's eyes widened. "Oh no, I forgot to change how I address you!"

Gu Huainan withdrew his gaze from Lu Baoyun and grabbed his sister's braid, giving it a tug.

"Coco, if you dare use my phone again, I'll teach you a lesson!"

"Also, did you mention what you saw elsewhere?"

Gu Keke slapped his hand away. "I told you, I asked my older brother and sister-in-law how long it would take before you and Baoyun could have a baby after sleeping in the same bed."

ah!

This time, the four of them were speechless.

Lu Baoyun's ears turned as red as branding irons. She bit her lip, feeling so embarrassed she wanted to disappear into the ground.

After a moment of confusion, she picked up her bag and trench coat and stood up abruptly, saying, "I'm full, you guys enjoy your meal!"

"Baoyun, my sister has a loose tongue, she deserves to be hit, watch me scold her!"

Gu Huainan grabbed her arm and explained anxiously.

"Be fierce, be fierce my ass!"

Gu Keke looked indignant. She was just asking out of curiosity how she had made a mistake again.

Ruan Jiaojiao was already laughing so hard she slipped under the table.

Lu Yi looked at the three of them and couldn't help but chuckle.

It's good to have friends. Few of the surprises in a person's life come from themselves; they are all brought by their friends.

...

The new job kept Lao Ma extremely busy.

He had almost forgotten about the unpleasant things that had happened before.

That day, after the leader finished the morning meeting, he stayed behind with everyone.

He cut to the chase: "Old Ma, you know Lu Yi, right?"

Old Ma didn't react for a moment.

Lu Yi?

That name sounds familiar; I feel like I've heard it somewhere before.

Seeing that he didn't seem to be faking it, the leader took out his phone, clicked on the headline "Lu Yi, the Young Master of the Fan Family," and pushed it in front of him.

"Oh, him!"

"This kid is successful now, but he used to be more pitiful than children from ordinary families... What happened to him?"

Old Ma didn't have time to read the news online. The last time he heard his colleagues mention Lu Yi was because of his coming-of-age ceremony.
