Chapter 159 The Dragon King's Daughter

Emily was startled by Li Jia's performance. The seemingly refined man had killed the assassin who attacked her in the blink of an eye. The spinning cushion and the way Li Jia threw the dart left this young but knowledgeable girl speechless. She let Li Jia pull her out of the room, and it wasn't until the two of them reached the stairs on the right side of the courtyard that Emily came to her senses.

"Wait a minute!" Emily stopped Li Jia's hurried steps, then stared at him for a long time, but still couldn't see anything special about him. He was still the same polite and well-mannered person.

"Is there anything else you want to ask?" As Li Jia spoke, her eyes kept scanning the surrounding environment. Apart from the ball on the top floor, there was no one else in the entire hotel. It was extremely quiet everywhere, and even the crystal chandelier hanging from the atrium seemed so quiet.

"Stop asking, let's leave right now, or it'll be too late." Li Jia looked at Emily, who seemed to want to say something, and stopped her, then pulled her along quickly downstairs.

They quickly descended the dozen or so flights of stairs. When Li Jia led Emily to the first floor, they found that all the doors to the lobby were locked. Even more strangely, the hotel was eerily dark all around, and even the decorative lights in front of the hotel had been turned off. One could imagine that the Kawa Hotel would appear completely silent from the outside. In this silence, only the huge ballroom on the top floor was still faintly flashing with colorful lights, and the music, sometimes loud and sometimes soft, drifted far away.

“Emily, I think you should tell me what exactly happened? Why would someone want to kill you? What is your identity?” Li Jia pulled Emily to one side of the hall, leaned back on the sofa, and asked Emily with a serious expression.

"What could my identity be? I'm just a student." Emily was clearly still unsure whether Li Jia was a good person or a bad person, and was still giving incoherent explanations.

"Alright, enough of this. A student council member would have something like this? A student council member would attract so many assassins to kill you? I know you're Chinese, adopted as a child, and went abroad to Italy when you were seven. After that, I haven't heard from you at all. Don't you want to explain this clearly?" Li Jia looked at Emily and then spoke these words calmly.

As soon as Li Jia finished speaking, Emily, who was leaning against the side, froze, staring at Li Jia with a big question mark in her eyes. "How do you know all this? I only just found out myself. Are you one of Uncle Cai's men?"

“It doesn’t matter whose side I’m on. What matters is that we’re in a bad situation right now. I need to know why so many people came to kill you. Once I know, I can think of some countermeasures.” Li Jia looked up at the outside of the hotel. Several beams of light came in, along with the sound of a car engine.

“It looks like a car is coming outside. I don’t think it’s here to pick us up. We have at most a minute and a half left. You’d better think about my suggestion carefully. I don’t mean you any harm. Besides, we’re in the same boat now. It’s really necessary for us to know what’s going on. Neither of us wants to die, right?” Li Jia said, handing the revolver back to Emily.

Time ticked by, and finally, Emily made up her mind, looked into Li Jia's eyes, and slowly revealed her identity.

"I am the Dragon King's daughter!"
