He was once a top-tier assassin, an existence that even international police feared. Now, he's the small owner of a dry-cleaning shop.
To take care of his younger brother and sister, whom...
The next morning, Li Jia and Zhou Xiaoyu settled things at the shop, arranged for Black Jack to go to Florence to find Angel and Scorpion because he had something to do, then called Hai Mingyue to say goodbye, and then disappeared from City B.
Two days later, Li Jia appeared on the streets of Florence. It was naturally at night, as it would be inconvenient to do anything during the day, especially now, in this place.
"I'll be waiting for you behind the David statue in Piazzale Michelangelo." After hanging up the phone, Li Jia stood in Piazzale Michelangelo, gazing at Florence at night. The city was ablaze with dazzling neon lights, its vibrant nightlife filling the air.
“You’re very fast.” Li Jia turned around, and a figure stood on one side of the square. After listening to Li Jia’s words, the figure slowly walked over. “You know it’s hard to hide from the Dragon Dance Association’s eyes and ears here,” the person replied.
"Well, otherwise I wouldn't have come here so late at night to enjoy the night breeze. Tell me, what has that meatball been up to lately?" After Li Jia finished speaking, she lit a Zhongnanhai cigarette, handed it to the person, and then put another one in her own mouth.
"About two weeks ago, he had frequent contact with the Hammeri family, a clan on the outskirts of Sicily. A week ago, he secretly met with the current patriarch of the Hammeri family, Dar Hammeri. Three days ago, the two reached some kind of agreement. This is my guess; I haven't found out the specifics yet. But I'm sure that whatever agreement they reached, it's extremely dangerous for you, Miss. Some people are too well hidden. Luckily, you had the foresight." The visitor's words were brief and concise, succinctly conveying what he had found out to Li Jia.
After hearing the man's words, Li Jia frowned slightly. "I understand. Go back. Be careful and don't reveal your identity unless absolutely necessary." The man left Piazzale Michelangelo without a word as Li Jia finished speaking, while the Zhongnanhai compound that Li Jia had mentioned flickered in the night sky, like the bloodshot eyes of a ghost in the darkness.
Back at the hotel, Li Jia logged onto the internet on her phone, edited an email, and sent it out. The next morning, a black man dressed as a Western cowboy appeared at Li Jia's breakfast table. "Master! Good morning! Don't you think my outfit is very manly?"
Blackjack sat down without ceremony, picked up an extra sandwich from the table, and began to eat heartily. "Go to Sicily. Check if those bastards in Hanmeri have been up to anything lately, especially their leader, Dar Hanmeri, understand?"
"Understood, Master! No way... Okay... I'll leave right away." Black Czech hadn't even finished his sandwich when Li Jia's eyes conveyed the message, "You know what I mean, so hurry up and get lost!" He fled in a panic, not forgetting to pick up the remaining half-cup of milk and finish it in one gulp before leaving.
Watching the retreating figure of the black-clad Czech, Li Jia couldn't help but shake his head. "Dal Hammeri, I hope you're not planning anything against Xiaoyue, otherwise, I think you'll be the next Kaman!" After spending a week in Florence, Li Jia received a message at 11 PM. The Dragon Dance Association's Grand Elder, Ma Bin, was going out to meet someone that evening, supposedly in half an hour. The exact location was still unclear.
Upon seeing this message, Li Jia perked up. After waiting for so many days, he finally had something to do. At the same time, news also came from Black Czech: Dahl Hammeri's capable henchman, Siston Hammeri, had arrived in Florence and was expected to make a move that night. Li Jia was told to be prepared.
"Dalier Hotel. Specific floor unknown." Just after Li Jia finished dressing and getting ready, another message came through on her phone. After reading it, Li Jia was stunned. "Dalier Hotel? Isn't that the hotel I'm staying at?"
Li Jia checked the address on her phone again, and after confirming that it was the hotel where she was staying, she put her phone away, put on the hat that the black Czech had left behind, and dressed in a brand-new cowboy outfit with a cowboy hat, looking every bit the authentic Western cowboy.
After leaving her room, Li Jia entered the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor. Once outside, she looked around, adjusted her hat, and pulled the brim down slightly to best conceal her face and ensure she could see properly. She then turned and walked down the side staircase, floor by floor.
The Daryl Hotel has thirty-seven floors, and Li Feng had already descended to the twenty-sixth floor, in the corridor. Li Jia didn't find anything suspicious. Normally, in such situations, there would be several guards stationed outside the rooms to prevent unauthorized entry.
However, this also made Li Jia's search somewhat easier. Just when Li Jia was feeling a little frustrated, she finally saw her long-sought target at the door of an ordinary business suite on the sixteenth floor. Pretending to be an ordinary customer, Li Jia walked past the business suite with four guards standing at the door. Her eyes inadvertently glanced at the room number, 1688, a very auspicious number, at least that's what Chinese people think.
She walked through the corridor to the elevator door on the other side, reached out and pressed the elevator button. Just as she stepped into the elevator, she glanced back at the four guards at the door as if by accident. Then she followed the elevator numbers all the way to the first floor. A dozen minutes later, Li Jia reappeared in the corridor on the sixteenth floor, this time with an electronic room card in her hand.
Li Jia took the room card and arrived at room 1687. After swiping the card to open the door, she went inside, closed the door behind her, and then walked to the balcony. Rooms 1687 and 1688 were not facing each other, but were right next to each other. There were only two ways to enter room 1688 without alerting anyone: either by entering through the ceiling or by jumping over from the balcony.
