Ring ring—

The doorbell rang urgently.

As soon as Yingxi opened the door, she saw Wang Dadong dressed very casually, with a lady's bicycle at the bottom of the steps.

"The weather's so nice, let's go out and have some fun," Wang Dadong said with a smile.

Then, Yingxi, who only wanted to stay at home, was dragged out.

Wang Dadong rode his bicycle with Yingxi on the back, cycling around the riverside park...

"They're acting strange, why are they looking at me?" Yingxi asked, sitting in the back seat and noticing the way the people doing their morning exercises were looking at her.

Wang Dadong glanced at her out of the corner of his eye and couldn't help but laugh.

"What are you laughing at?" Yingxi frowned, somewhat displeased.

"They probably've never seen anyone sit so upright on the back of a bicycle without moving an inch," Wang Dadong said with a smile.

"Then how should I sit?" Yingxi asked.

Without turning his head, Wang Dadong controlled the direction of the bicycle with his right hand, and stretched his left hand out in front of her.

"What?" Yingxi asked.

"Hand," Wang Dadong's voice came from the front.

Yingxi hesitated for a moment, but still reached out her hand.

Wang Dadong's palms were warm and dry. He gently took her hand, letting her wrap her arms around his waist, placing her hands on his waist, and leaning her whole body against his back.

Yingxi was startled and quickly tried to let go of him and put some distance between them.

"Don't move, the terrain ahead is uneven," Wang Dadong said, turning his head.

"Oh," Yingxi's hand stiffened, but she didn't let go of him after all.

After riding the bicycles for a little while longer, they left the riverbank...

"Where are we going?" Yingxi asked.

This place was still quite new to her. She had been in the Divine Realm before, and then in the gaps between different time and space, so it was rare to have such a peaceful and tranquil time.

Wang Dadong from Xiaoxi Village replied, "We're almost there, just hang in there a little longer."

Before long, the two arrived at a fairytale-like village and stopped in front of a small Western-style house.

Wang Dadong skillfully parked the bicycle and pulled Yingxi inside.

As the copper bell on the door jingled, an old voice came from inside the house.

Who is it?

"Grandma Hua, it's me, Da Dong." Wang Da Dong led the woman all the way to the back garden.

An elderly woman with a full head of white hair and a kind face, wearing reading glasses, was lying in a rocking chair, knitting a sweater.

"You little rascal Da Dong, it's been so long since you've come to see me." Grandma Hua glanced at him, but when she saw Yingxi, her eyes widened instantly, and she jumped up from her rocking chair.

His movements were nothing like those of an elderly person with completely white hair.

"When did you get a girlfriend? She's so cute."

The old lady, called Grandma Hua, put down her sweater, stepped past Wang Dadong, took Yingxi's hand, and pulled her all the way into the house.

Yingxi kept looking to Wang Dadong for help, but Wang Dadong just smiled and watched them leave, then started helping out with some physically demanding tasks in the back garden.

By lunchtime, Yingxi had become quite familiar with Grandma Hua, but she was still a little reserved.

“Xi girl, let me tell you, Da Dong was really naughty when he was little. He fought with Xiao Hua and when he lost, he wouldn’t let go of her tail and insisted that she apologize.”

Grandma Hua said with a laugh, "Little Hua is my poor little cat. After that, I avoided him and secretly glared at him from behind several times."

"That happened when I was two years old, I don't even remember it myself," Wang Dadong said somewhat embarrassedly.

The two lingered there for a while, and then followed Grandma Hua to the village kindergarten to visit the lovely children.

“She’s my neighbor, and also my kindergarten teacher,” Wang Dadong introduced to Yingxi. “We moved away after that, and we haven’t seen each other for many years. I only found out she was here in the last two years. I thought the environment here was nice, so I brought you here for a visit.”

"Brother Da Dong, is this pretty lady your girlfriend?" A little girl with her hair in a bun hugged Wang Da Dong's leg, looking at Ying Xi with starry eyes.

Yingxi didn't speak, and Wang Dadong also couldn't speak. He looked at her expectantly, but Yingxi looked around and didn't say anything.

"Are you shy?" the little girl tilted her head and smiled. "Yes, that's right."

"Can you be my mom and dad?" The little girl ran a few steps and stood between the two, holding one person's hand in each.

“Xiao Ning, you have your own parents. You can’t find another set of parents. They’ll be jealous.” Wang Dadong squatted down, placed his large hand on her head, and said gently.

“But they all say my mom and dad don’t want me anymore.” Xiao Ning lowered her head sadly, and big tears slid down her cheeks. “So I don’t want them anymore either. I want to find myself a mom and dad.”

“Xiao Ning, they must have had their reasons. They didn’t leave you alone on purpose.” Wang Dadong knew her situation.

In fact, many of the children here are left-behind children. In better families, one parent will stay at home. Xiao Ning's parents have both gone out, leaving her and her grandmother to depend on each other for survival.

"Really? You're not kidding me?" Xiao Ning asked.

"Really, Brother Da Dong never lies to children," Wang Da Dong assured him.

"Okay!" Xiao Ning burst into laughter through her tears.

"Go play," Wang Dadong said, pushing her towards the group of children.

Children's emotions come and go quickly, and they're soon playing with their friends again.

"Brother Da Dong might break his promise," Yingxi said, looking over there.

"What do you mean?" Wang Dadong asked shyly, his ears turning red.
