Jiang Tiecheng was reborn.
Just because he drew the lot to take over his father's job, he got an immense benefit.
His entire life, he had to help his mother raise his younger siblin...
Driver Xiao Liu waited and waited outside the door, and it was already afternoon, but Sister-in-law Ouyang still hadn't come out.
For a moment, I didn't know what to do, and went to the yard several times to look around.
Seeing several tables of guests chatting and laughing, Sister-in-law Ouyang was busy talking to each table of guests.
It's not convenient for me to go there myself.
So I had no choice but to get back into the car and wait.
…………
Ouyang Zhenyu's leather shoes sank into the mud pit in front of the outpatient building.
Looking at the yellow mud on his leather shoes, he knew that the conditions here might not be as good as he had imagined.
But I never expected the hospital I was assigned to would be in such poor condition.
Somewhat surprised, did his elder brother and father want him to start from the bottom?
That shouldn't be the case. With Dean Ouyang's current academic reputation, people would be scrambling to get him jobs at the hospital. There shouldn't be a situation where no one can accept him.
Are we suggesting we let this full-time master start all over again?
However, since this was a job arranged for him by his older brother, he had no reason to refuse.
Ouyang Zhenyu knocked on the door of the dean's office.
This hospital is too small; it only has two floors inside and out, and it's a small two-story building with white paint on the exterior walls.
"Hello Dean, my name is Ouyang Zhenyu, and this is my letter of introduction."
As he handed over the documents, he noticed a plaster stuck to the reflection of the old man's bald head behind the table.
The name tag read "Dean Zhou Weimin".
Zhou Weimin glanced at the letter of introduction, folded it, and stuffed it directly into the drawer.
"This is the state of our hospital. Since you've come here, it proves you already know that. Fine! Outsiders are always better at explaining things."
"You're in surgery, and our hospital happens to be short of surgeons."
Starting today, you are Dr. Ouyang in our surgery department.
The surgical clinic is on the second floor, at the east end.
The old man peered at him through the top of his reading glasses.
"I see patients every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday; the rest of the time I go on rounds with Lao Liu in the factory area."
The enamel mug, stained with tea, suddenly shook.
"Oh, and you're also in charge of the morgue keys."
When the disinfectant mixed with the musty smell entered his nostrils, Ouyang Zhenyu tightened his grip on the suitcase.
He took a key from his hand.
Ouyang Zhenyu walked into the surgery department, which was located at the east end of the second floor to be precise.
The iron door to the operating room at the end of the corridor was half-open, and three sparrows were pecking at breadcrumbs under the operating lights.
His leather shoes stomped on the cracked terrazzo floor, startling a chorus of fluttering wings.
An office with a sign that read "Surgery Clinic" was covered in dust, and it was unclear how long it had been uninhabited.
The door creaked and groaned as it was pushed open.
It makes you wonder if the door could fall down at any moment.
There was a rickety desk and two chairs inside.
There was a wooden bookcase against the wall, but half of it had collapsed and looked like it would fall apart at the slightest touch.
The place was covered in dust from top to bottom, and there were even cobwebs hanging in the corners of the office walls.
When Ouyang Zhenyu pushed open the door to the consultation room, dust fell in a flurry.
A dead leaf butterfly was trapped in a spider web in the corner, and the "Barefoot Doctor's Manual" was still stuck on the medical record shelf.
He opened the window, and in the distance, the chimneys of a chemical plant were spewing out clouds of ash.
Ouyang Zhenyu put down his things, rolled up his sleeves, and ran next door.
The department next door happens to be internal medicine, and the next one is pediatrics. Their hospital only has four departments.
The internal medicine and surgery departments are on the second floor, while the pediatrics and gynecology departments are on the first floor.
So they do have an inpatient department here, but it's a single-story building, located behind their two-story building.
They all appear to be locked, so they are clearly not used normally.
There was clearly someone in the internal medicine office: a middle-aged man in a white coat, about the same age as Dean Zhou, and also bald.
The internal medicine department was spotless. When they saw Ouyang Zhenyu, they were momentarily stunned, clearly not expecting anyone to be there.
"Comrade, are you here to see a doctor? What's wrong?"
He thought to himself, "It's almost lunchtime. Why is this person here to see a doctor at this hour?"
Besides, who in the surrounding factory areas would want to come here for medical treatment? Everyone goes to the employee hospital for medical care, right?
Their Yanjiao Hospital sounds impressive, but it's actually on the verge of closing down.
If it weren't for the government paying salaries every month, this hospital would have closed down long ago.
Since the accident at the hospital, people have gradually stopped coming to Yanjiao Hospital, mainly because of its bad reputation.
I never expected that this person would dare to come to their hospital for treatment.
"Hello, comrade. My name is Ouyang Zhenyu. I am a new surgeon at our hospital."
The bald man looked surprised upon hearing this, but at the same time laughed heartily.
He stretched out his hand and said.
"Oh, it's Dr. Ouyang! It's a pleasure to meet you. My surname is Huang, and I'm your internal medicine doctor. Let's look after each other from now on."
"Dr. Huang, would you like to borrow your washbasin, broom, rag, or something similar?"
"Let me use this place for a bit while I tidy up the office next door."
Upon hearing this, Dr. Huang immediately understood; the surgical department next door had long since run out of doctors.
It's very desolate there; you can imagine what it will become if no one thinks about it for at least three or four months.
"I don't have these things here either, but there's a storage room at the end of the corridor, which is also a water room."
They have towels, mops and other things; you can go there and get them.
"Oh, by the way, if you need disinfectant or anything like that, you'll have to go to the logistics department to get it first."
