The Walking Dead: Transmigrated

The world is a piece of dog shit, but luckily you are by my side.

I woke up and went from being Chinese in China to being Chinese in America.

Oh well, being Chinese is fine.

Just ...

Chapter 57

I don't know how well the others rested, but because of the preferential treatment for injuries, Lina wasn't assigned to keep watch. She snuggled up to Daryl and slept soundly for a while. After dawn, everyone started their journey again.

Daryl and Moore walked at the front, while Lena and Amy walked in the middle, their expressions like two squirrels cracking pine nuts, baring their teeth as they listened to Bob and Sasha chat.

It's definitely more interesting to watch other people date!

Oh right, Bob apparently lost a leg to an ogre, didn't he?

Lena stared at Bob's retreating figure with a troubled expression. She seemed to have a hard time remembering what Bob had been through. When watching TV shows, Lena remembered the key plot points or the storylines involving her favorite characters more clearly, but not Bob…

All she remembered was being captured, having her legs chopped off, and being thrown back. She also thought there was a scene of everyone saying goodbye to Bob.

Was he bitten? Or did he die from his injuries?

"Help!" Lina's thoughts were interrupted by the shout. She still couldn't remember why Bob had been bitten or what had happened, but she knew that Gabriel had appeared.

After hesitating for a moment, everyone finally followed Carl and Rick and ran over. Gabriel was on a large rock, crying out for help in terror.

Before Lina could even make a move, the walkers were already lying all over the ground.

Tsk, that's the downside of having a lot of people – you can't compete, you simply can't compete.

Lina kicked the corpse at her feet. Gabriel had already climbed down and finished vomiting.

"What an extravagant thing to do," Lina couldn't help but exclaim.

“…I have no weapons, but the Way of God is enough to protect me,” Gabriel said nervously.

Lina couldn't hold back any longer and turned around to laugh. In this world, hearing such words was funnier than any joke; this was already the joke of her life.

Obviously, everyone was speechless at such words, but having just passed the final stop, they were even more afraid that this was just a disguise.

After Rick checked Gabriel and made sure he had no weapons, everyone followed Gabriel to his church. Gabriel was clearly overjoyed to see people after so long, and despite his fear, he couldn't help but chatter on and on.

Especially his facepalm-worthy sense of humor; honestly, if Rick were in a bad mood, Lena wouldn't be surprised if Rick immediately blew her head off.

However, it seems that Gabriel is very bold, which he showed from the beginning. He dared to joke in front of a group of people that he was leading them to a trap or something.

As Lina watched Daryl walk up to her, she couldn't resist reaching out and grabbing a string of squirrel tails hanging from his back.

This is the allure of furryness, well, dead furryness doesn't feel quite right.

Daryl glanced at Lina and asked, "Want one to play with?"

Lina released her grip and shook her head. "It seems a bit perverted."

Daryl didn't insist. He could pluck a lot of fur from these squirrels and tidy it up to make a fluffy little blanket for Lina. It probably wouldn't be very big, maybe like a baby's Abebe.

Lena waited outside with the children, Rick led his men inside to inspect the church, while Abraham and his men circled around outside to check.

“I found a bus in the backyard. It should be usable if we fix it. You know how urgent things are right now,” Abraham said, still thinking about his trip to Washington. Lena looked at Eugene, whose eyes darted away. Lena didn’t say anything.

Oh well, as long as there's no danger, let's just let things take their course.

Following everyone into the church, Lina looked around. She wasn't religious and hadn't even read the Bible. Well, you can't say that; she had at least read the story of Adam and Eve.

Lina walked up to the cross and looked at the words on the wall. How ironic.

Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood will have eternal life.

Lina wandered around for a bit, then looked at the crowd.

“…ten, maybe more,” Gabriel said. Lina walked over and heard Rick say, “We can take down more than ten.”

“Bob and I will go with you. Tyrsey will stay behind to ensure Judith’s safety,” Sasha said.

"Is it okay?" Rick asked Tyrsey to confirm.

“Of course, if you need me to take care of her, or do anything for her, I’m willing to.” Tyrsey looked tenderly at Judith, then said to Rick.

“Thank you so much, thank you for everything,” Rick said. Without Talsey, he would never have seen Judith and Herschel again.

“I’ll draw you a map,” Gabriel said, but Rick’s words immediately froze him in place: “No need. You’re coming with us.”

Gabriel's face twitched involuntarily. He tried to remain calm and forced a smile. "I can't help you at all, you can see that."

But Rick was more persistent than he had imagined, and Gabriel's refusal was of no use.

Lina was pondering. She hadn't felt like she was being watched around the camp last night, but Gray and the others said they might still be there. She was torn between staying behind just in case or going with Rick and the others to gather supplies.

However, quite a few people stayed behind, and with Mor and Andrea among them, Lina decided to join the team collecting supplies.

After watching Rick and Carl finish their class, Lina quietly followed them, saying, "I'll go too."

Rick glanced at Lina but didn't object. "Are you sure you don't want to rest?"

“Of course not,” Lina patted her chest. “I’m in great shape, okay?”

Lina pounded her chest.

"Okay, okay," Rick quickly stopped Lina, afraid she might break her own sternum.

Lena innocently stopped what she was doing. Seeing this, Rick went to assign tasks to the others. Lena ran to Carl's side. "Your dad's right, it's always good to be careful, but Gabriel doesn't seem to be thinking straight. I don't think he's a conman."

Karl was amused by Lina. "Seriously? Are you not quite right in the head?"

Lena mimicked Gabriel's tone, "The way of God is enough to protect me~" She winked at Karl, who hugged Judith, glanced around to make sure no one was watching, and covered Judith's ears. "Actually, sometimes I think God and stuff are stupid, just sometimes,"

"Don't be afraid, I've always thought it was incredibly stupid," Lina said, unrestrained despite being in a church. After all, she was a foreigner, and foreign gods shouldn't interfere.

"I'm leaving now. Be careful, okay? Sophia and Dewayne are inside. You'd better stay together," Lina said, standing up. Beth was also inside because of her broken hand, but lately she really couldn't handle the responsibility of taking care of the children.

Fortunately, Talsey and Herschel were there.

Following Gabriel all the way to the charity food bank he mentioned? That's a really strange idea, Lina thought to herself. Foreigners have so many weird things to do.

Stepping inside, the room was fairly clean, and there were even quite a few clothes. Lina excitedly ran over, exclaiming, "New clothes! New clothes!"

Rick glanced at Lena, who was hoarding clothes, but said nothing. She had always been quite clean, and Rick didn't want to spoil the mood since he had the means. He remembered that Lori used to love wearing new clothes, and it always made her feel much better.

Rick felt a pang of sadness, but he couldn't show it. He took two steps forward and saw a large hole in the ground filled with water, and the shelves had fallen down.

“If the sewers could vomit, this is what they would smell like,” Bob said with disgust, almost throwing up.

“The roof has been leaking for a while now, making this place full of sewage,” Michonne said, looking at the roof.

Lina packed up some clothes, taking two for herself and a lot for the others. Then she ran over to Michonne and peered down.

“Yue—I’d rather sleep with a zombie in my arms,” Lina said with a look of disgust.

“That’s a bit extreme,” Sasha said.

"It's better than down there," Lina pinched her nose. She hadn't found the smell disgusting a moment ago, but now it really was...

“We can use the shelves to block the walkers,” Sasha said.

“Yes, that’s it, Sasha, it’s the only way,” Rick sighed. This place was truly torture.

Although everyone brought guns, Rick said it was best not to fire them, firstly to save ammunition, and secondly because it would be too noisy and dangerous.

Lina's longsword couldn't pierce the zombie's head below because it wasn't long enough.

But going down...

Rick glanced at Lina. "You stay up there and provide backup."

"Huh?" Although it's good that she doesn't have to go down, Lina doesn't want to be treated differently because of her fussiness and enjoy the fruits of their labor.

“But,” Rick glanced at the top of Lina’s head, “can you swim?”

Lina's face immediately darkened, and she glared at Rick through gritted teeth, "The water level isn't that high!"

Rick curled his lips into a smile. "Hard to say,"

Michonne couldn't help but chuckle, then quickly looked at Lina seriously, "Let's go down and take a look."

Rick looked at Gabriel beside him, "You come down with us too."

Gabriel looked somewhat apprehensive. Lina frowned. "I'll stay up there and watch over him. You don't need someone who's a burden; he'll only cause you trouble."

Rick hesitated for a moment, but he had no doubt that Lena could keep an eye on Gabriel.

“Compared to him, you need to be careful underwater. There might be zombies lying down there. I’m afraid he might grab you or bite your legs or something.” Lina looked around. “There’s nothing to protect you here, tsk.”

“They’ll float up even if they’re lying down,” Bob and Sasha exchanged a glance, looking helplessly at the nervous Lina.

“What if something is pressing down on him, preventing him from floating, and he suddenly jumps up when he hears you? Anything is possible, better safe than sorry.” Lina said angrily, hands on her hips, glaring at Bob.

Bob nodded quickly, looking like he had learned something. "I'm sorry, teacher, I was wrong."

Lena snorted. Rick looked at her amusedly, then said seriously, "Lena's right, be careful."

As Rick and the others went into the water one by one, Lina watched them from above with some concern, especially Bob, who might have been bitten here.

Lena ignored Gabriel. After seeing a zombie, he had fled in terror. He was afraid even from this distance, and going down would only cause trouble. But she couldn't just leave him idle. Lena glanced at Gabriel and said, "Hey, go find the bag and pack all the clothes." They all needed to change and wash their clothes, and their tattered clothes needed to be thrown away.

Gabriel nodded hurriedly, saying that anything was fine as long as they got away from there.

The four below worked together seamlessly. They surrounded the area with shelves and quickly cleared away the walkers. Rick tentatively knocked on the shelves again and shouted twice. Sure enough, a walker emerged from the water.

“She guessed right,” Bob said to Sasha with a smile.

Hearing this from above, Lina shouted smugly, "See that? The power of Lina's quick calculations!"

"What do you mean by 'calculating with your fingers'?" Bob asked, puzzled.

"...Forget it, you wouldn't understand even if I told you." Lina was too lazy to argue. "You should just focus on what's going on down there; it's dangerous."

Bob shrugged. "Yeah, I'll ask you later."

“I guess it’s like tarot readings or something,” Sasha said casually. After clearing out the walkers, they started packing their things. Luckily, there were some boxes downstairs that they could use for storage.

Lina also found some boxes from above and passed them down. This is where the advantage of Lina's strength came in. The people below stood on the shelves and handed the boxes to Lina, who could easily carry them away and put them in a safe place. She could even handle boxes that four people had packed all by herself.

Gabriel, who was watching from the side, was dumbfounded.

Samson was transformed into a woman?
