Chapter 461 No Choice, the Rules of Beili
Upon seeing this, Chi Rui rushed forward without hesitation.
Before Ji Qingwu could even display what was in his right hand, it was stopped.
Chi Rui shouted loudly, "Protect Miss Ji!"
Several tall soldiers immediately surrounded Ji Qingwu, protecting her behind them.
At the same time, Gao Zhaoyue's fingers moved nimbly, and dozens of black eagles suddenly swooped down from the night sky.
The eyes of these birds of prey had a yellowish-green tint, and their talons were still covered with bits of flesh torn from somewhere.
A flock of eagles circled overhead. Chi Rui swung his sword and cleaved them in two, only to find that they were just two dark shadows.
Faced with the attack from the sky, the soldiers couldn't tell which direction the black hawks were coming from. Moreover, they flew fast and had sharp talons, so even though the soldiers had a lot of strength, they had nowhere to use it.
A black eagle's talons narrowly grazed past Chi Rui's ear, leaving a bloody mark. His eyes widened in fury as he stared intently at the black eagle circling overhead, focusing all his energy on defense, using his sword to deflect the eagle's repeated attacks.
Gao Zhaoyue then clasped her two wrists together again, seemingly summoning an even more ferocious beast.
Her lips were a deep, almost black color in the darkness, and she said coldly, "I had no intention of hurting you, but since you're refusing to listen to reason, don't blame me for being ruthless!"
Despite the soldiers around Ji Qingwu doing their best to deal with Black Hawk, there was no fear in her eyes.
Instead, a smile appeared on his lips as he said, "What do you mean you don't want to hurt me? You called all these ferocious beasts over, did you mean you wanted to put on a show for me?"
Gao Zhaoyue quickened her pace and responded dismissively.
"That sharp-tongued little girl!"
Soon, three fierce tigers with piercing eyes and white foreheads appeared. They broke through the horizontal barricade at the entrance of the military camp and came behind Gao Zhaoyue, baring their fangs fiercely at Ji Qingwu.
Ji Qingwu frowned; the tiger's roar was so loud that it made her ears ring.
Gao Zhaoyue said mockingly, "Is it too late to be afraid now?"
Hearing the noise, Ji Qingwu turned to look at the fence at the edge of the camp and saw a wolf leap out and return to her side.
But instead of rubbing against her skirt as usual, the wolf cub lay half-prone on its forelegs at her feet.
Ji Qingwu frowned even more deeply because she noticed that the wolf cub's silver-gray fur was stained with a glaring red, and there was a gaping wound in the wolf cub's left ear that was still bleeding.
The battle on the wolf pack's side must be even more brutal. Ji Qingwu carefully squatted down to check the wounds on the wolf cub's body.
Seeing that she had no regard for her and the three tigers, and even had time to care about the wolf's injuries, Gao Zhaoyue said with dissatisfaction, "You still have time to care about its life or death?"
Ji Qingwu straightened up, her gaze fixed, and said, "Since you know who I am and that you're here to capture me, why make things difficult for these innocent animals?"
She changed the subject: "Actually, I also have something I'd like to talk to you about."
Gao Zhaoyue looked slightly surprised: "Oh?"
She gently shook her wrist, and the roars of the wild beasts in the distance gradually subsided, but the black hawk's attack did not stop.
Chi Rui and his group were too busy to attend to Ji Qingwu's side for the time being.
Ji Qingwu's eyes flickered slightly. She lowered her head, took a few steps forward, and kept an eye on the changes in the tiger behind Gao Zhaoyue.
Seeing that she was willing to cooperate, Gao Zhaoyue's tone became much gentler.
"You little girl, it would have been better if you had been this well-behaved earlier. I just wanted to invite you to Xijin as a guest, and also to discuss cooperation with the Emperor of Beili."
Ji Qingwu twirled his right wrist in his sleeve, and the vertical pupils of the tiger beside Gao Zhaoyue changed color from dark red to clear amber.
But Gao Zhaoyue didn't notice any of this.
Ji Qingwu moved closer to her, gazing at the beautiful face before him, and said, "So this is how the cooperation was negotiated. You wanted to capture me to threaten the Emperor. What do you want?"
Gao Zhaoyue chuckled before saying, "What threat? I just wanted to have more leverage in negotiations. I respect Tianqing for being able to return to Xijin alive, and I admire the Northern Li Emperor for not exterminating him."
"But when it comes to strategy, I'm not confident I can beat him; I just want to have more trump cards up my sleeve."
Ji Qingwu also curved the corners of his lips and said slowly, "But we in Beili do not accept this kind of coercive negotiation."
Gao Zhaoyue's bright red fingertips twitched slightly as she said disdainfully, "You have no other choice now."
Ji Qingwu raised an eyebrow, her tone full of surprise: "Who said I didn't? You're the one who had no choice."
Gao Zhaoyue sneered, "It seems you, a junior, still haven't grasped the situation."
She narrowed her eyes, clasped her hands together and waved them, intending to command the tigers to approach Ji Qingwu, but they did not obey.
Gao Zhaoyue turned her head to look at the tigers, then turned back in surprise. Her expression was grave, and she spread her arms, as if to summon the beasts to gather again.
Ji Qingwu had already walked up to her, looked directly into her eyes, and said, word by word.
"If you want to negotiate, you have to follow the rules of Beili!"
Then, Ji Qingwu raised her right hand, and with a flash of silver light, she twirled the silver hairpin in her hand. The tiger immediately trembled and prostrated itself on the ground.
The tigers' gold and black stripes gleamed in the moonlight, and several small red spiders could be seen crawling off their bodies and fearfully burrowing into the sand.
Gao Zhaoyue stared at the thing in her hand, her beautiful face showing a hint of disarray.
"Where did you get this?!"
Seeing that Gao Zhaoyue's expression was mostly fearful, Ji Qingwu felt even more confident and asked a question instead of answering.
"Do you genuinely want peace talks?"
Gao Zhaoyue demanded sharply, "Who gave you this thing?!"
The more agitated she became, the calmer Ji Qingwu remained.
She said slowly and deliberately, "Why don't we sit down and have a good talk?"
Suddenly, Gao Zhaoyue bit her fingertip, intending to drip blood behind the ears of several tigers, but someone grabbed her wrist, and she couldn't break free no matter what she did.
Ji Qingwu was prepared; she had already witnessed the blood of their alien race in the bodies of Yuwen Tianqing and Su Daiyue's birth mother.
They're either poisonous or possess supernatural abilities; neither should be underestimated. Ji Qingwu wouldn't give Gao Zhaoyue another chance to attack; she gripped the other's wrist tightly.
"I advise you to save your energy."
No matter how hard Gao Zhaoyue tried, she couldn't break free. Instead, Ji Qingwu twisted her hands behind her back and said angrily, "How can you, a little girl, have such strong hands!"
Just as Ji Qingwu was about to call out to Chi Rui to bring a rope, he saw Li Yuzong rush over from the corner, grab an iron chain, and tie up Gao Zhaoyue's hands and feet.
"Miss Ji, you have frightened this old servant."
Li Yuzong cried out that he was panicking while tightening the shackles.
Ji Qingwu said, "You should first remove the Gu poison from the wild beasts."
Gao Zhaoyue sneered, "Why should I listen to you?"
