Chapter 4 Lessons

"Have you forgotten? We have already separated, and the village head remembers it clearly." Lin Wu was really angry this time and laughed.

The original Lin Wu was simple-minded, foolishly filial and cowardly. He was not the same Lin Wu as before. He couldn't go back to his original home and watch his wife and children being bullied.

"Where are we going?" Lin Shuo asked.

Lin Qian said, "You don't know, that old woman just scolded our mother so harshly, and she even wanted to take our money. We have to teach her a lesson."

"Hehe, I have an idea, follow me." Lin Shuo rolled his eyes twice and laughed sinisterly.

Lin Tiezhu's family was so frightened that they ran all the way until they could no longer see Lin Qian's house, and then they stopped.

"What happened? When did the boss become so fierce? How dare he treat me like this? The whole family is crazy!" He kept muttering and cursing Lin Wu's family all the way.

The young wife shook her head and said, "I didn't see it."

At this time, an old man passed by, bent over and smoking a pipe. Seeing the basket thrown aside, he shouted, "Lin Tiezhu, why are you taking my dung basket? I use it to pick up cow dung."

Lin Qian and Lin Shuo, who were hiding at the foot of the wall, looked at each other, smiled and left.

"How about you and Dad going to the town to sell bayberries today?" Lin Qian asked Lin Shuo on the way home.

Lin Shuo smiled and said, "I carried 40 jin (approximately 100 kg) of goods and sold them to two medical clinics at 9 wen per jin (approximately 100 kg). My father bought rice, flour, and seasonings, and also bought 10 jin (approximately 100 kg) of meat. He still has over 180 wen left."

"That's great. Let's pick some bayberries to sell tomorrow. Have you and Dad asked how many clinics there are in town?" Lin Qian asked with a smile.

Lin Shuo snorted and said with some complacency, "With me here, why would you worry about that? I've already found out that there are seven major medical clinics in town. Dad said to pick more today and send them all over tomorrow."

Lin Qian also thought it was a good idea. After all, bayberry was not a rare commodity. The clinic could get it anytime it wanted. It was better to get it sooner rather than later.

When I got home, the aroma was already wafting from the kitchen.

Lin Qian and Lin Shuo looked over and found that Zhao Xiu was refining oil.

"Mom, do you have any oil residue? I want to eat some." Lin Qian smelled the fragrance, her stomach growled, and she swallowed her saliva.

Zhao Xiu smiled and said, "Wait a minute, it's not ready yet. We're having unleavened bread today, and I've also mixed up some purslane. When the oil residue is ready, we can eat it together."

The lard was quickly cooked, and the unleavened flatbreads were out of the pan. The family of four sat at the broken table in the yard and ate happily.

"We sold a lot of bayberries today. Let's pick some more after dinner and sell them tomorrow." Lin Wu said at the dinner table.

The whole family nodded in agreement.

After dinner, Lin Wu and Zhao Xiu carried baskets to pick bayberries, while Lin Qian and Lin Shuo went to the mountain to take a look.

"You two have to be careful. This is ancient times and there are wild beasts." Zhao Xiu warned worriedly.

Lin Qian said, "Don't worry, Mom. I have a space where we can hide if we encounter danger. Don't worry about us." After that, she pulled Lin Shuo away.
