The Years I Worked Hard to Get Into Jail

Silver Ring is a famously lazy snake who wants to get into a zoo to live an easy life and retire.

In order to enjoy a life of leisure in the future, she employs all sorts of skills to battle ...

Chapter 37 Better than a living god

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the dark sky gradually descended. The demons of the Beast Zone, as if by prior arrangement, all emerged from their small huts and entered their iron cages. Huo Fei had returned to Luohan Temple this morning and hadn't had time to chant sutras for everyone, which gave the powerful demons of the Beast Zone a chance to catch their breath.

Ever since Silver Ring first appeared in the beast zone, the demons have changed their schedules, resting during the day and being active at night.

Yin Huan slept in the small house for a day, and when it got dark, she subconsciously woke up.

She looked around and, seeing that the blue monkey wasn't in the hut, flicked her tail a couple of times to loosen her stiff muscles. Then she glanced at Luo Mang, who was still coiled up and motionless. She flicked her tongue, dragged her tail, and slowly crawled out of the hut.

Now that she's an openly recognized demon, she can come and go from prison at any time and no longer needs to hide from Huo Fei.

The beast sanctuary was especially lively at night. Sure enough, Silver Ring had just stepped out of the hut when she heard the monsters next door complaining.

Because Huo Fei still hasn't brought food for everyone, the demons haven't even been given green vegetables...

They wanted to eat their fill and continue digging tunnels that night, so Huo Fei's actions undoubtedly angered everyone.

But when you're under someone's roof, you have to bow your head. No matter how angry they are, they can't do anything to Huo Fei; at most, they can only gain the upper hand verbally.

"Aww—Little snake, you're here. Where's your older brother? I haven't seen him for days."

Silver Ring had just climbed out of the hut when the sharp-eyed Black Bear spotted her. He left his fellow inmates behind, walked gracefully to the iron cage, and squinted at Silver Ring with his golden eyes, giving her a meaningful look.

"Big Brother is in seclusion." Silver Ring flicked its tail and swam a short distance towards Black Bear's cage.

Her neighbor was the spider demon who had once tried to eat her. Between the spider demon and the black panther demon, Silver Ring felt that Black Xiong posed less of a threat. After all, this guy hadn't shown her any malice yet.

"Seclusion, huh..." Hei Xiong paused for a moment, then sneered, "The Great Serpent is amazing; he can still go into seclusion peacefully in a place like this."

"That's right, eldest brother is the best." Yin Huan was not modest at all. When she heard someone say good things about Luo Mang, she immediately nodded in agreement.

Hei Xiong was speechless for a moment, then smiled faintly and fell into deep thought.

Silver Ring crawled around in the iron cage for a while, then looked up and asked Black Bear, "Have you seen the little monkey that came with me?"

"It looks like we've left the predator zone." Blackie snapped out of his daze and glanced outside.

Silver Ring tilted its head and thought for a while, then crawled to the small hole it had dug the night before, arched its body, and scrambled out of the iron cage in a flash, ready to go find Blue Monkey.

Seeing the swift snake come and go like the wind, the demons fell silent instantly, their eyes burning with a fiery intensity.

They exchanged a glance and quickly relayed the message.

Yin Huan remained completely at ease, utterly unaware of the enormous waves her disregard for the formation had stirred up in the hearts of the demons.

Meanwhile, in the zoo's rest room, Huo Fei had just finished dressing and was about to go to the predator enclosure to check on Silver Ring when a strange disturbance came from deep within his consciousness.

He frowned slightly, lifted his leg, and strode forward.

Halfway there, as if remembering something, he suddenly turned back to the next room and pulled the white-haired boy, who was covered by a blanket and playing chess with the Duke of Zhou in his dreams, out of bed.

"What are you doing?" White Hair was woken up and became angry and embarrassed.

It's one thing to trick him during the day, but to try and enslave him at night? No way!

Today, he was feeding the little demons from the outer area, and he almost ruined his leg in the process.

Huo Fei: "I'm giving you a task: go and chant sutras for the demons in the beast zone."

"Chanting scriptures, is it that simple?" The white-haired man yawned, somewhat reluctant.

Helping to manage the minor demons on the outskirts is one thing, but the area with the ferocious beasts... ugh, he'd have to be crazy to go there.

Huo Fei nodded: "Yes, from now on you only need to recite scriptures for them at night. You don't need to do anything else."

Bai Mao was taken aback upon hearing this, then immediately understood the deeper meaning behind Huo Fei's words: "Tsk tsk tsk, you're really ruthless. You don't need to resort to such underhanded tricks to torment them, do you? They're different from us. Buddhist scriptures are to them like the mantra that Xuanzang chanted..."

"Fine, I'll go, okay?" Seeing Huo Fei's face quickly turn cold, Bai Mao's tone changed, and he immediately compromised.

I knew this guy tricked him into prison, it couldn't be anything good... Fine, let him go. Anyway, the great demon is locked up, so even if they hate him to death, they can't eat him.

Who's afraid of who!

Huo Fei pried the reluctant white-haired creature out of the lounge and they went together to the predator enclosure. As they approached the enclosure, Huo Fei paused and glanced at the path to his left.

He called out to the white-haired man, telling him to go to the predator enclosure alone. He himself, having just finished giving instructions, headed down the path.

Huo Fei narrowed his dark eyes and thought to himself: That little guy really doesn't keep his word. He promised him yesterday that he couldn't go in and out of the prison without his permission, but only a day has passed and he's already forgotten what he promised.

——

As night deepened, Silver Ring crawled out of the predator enclosure. It first swam slowly around the zoo for a while to familiarize itself with the terrain, then climbed up a big tree, raised its little head, and hissed a few times into the silent night.

As soon as she finished speaking, the blue monkey appeared in her line of sight on the treetops in the distance.

"Squeak squeak squeak—" As soon as the blue monkey arrived, it immediately tossed the banana it was holding to the silver ring.

Monkeys are extremely intelligent animals.

The blue monkey had been locked in its cage all day, and by evening, it was too hungry to stay still. So it left the cage and ran off to steal a decent dinner from its fellow monkeys.
