Chapter 99 The Money-Giving Guy is Here Again

Two days have passed since we had barbecue in Yinhuan. Today is the Ghost Festival, the 15th day of the seventh lunar month, traditionally known as the Hungry Ghost Festival. According to older generations, it's customary not to go out on the night of the Ghost Festival. However, times have changed, and modern ghost stories have become nothing more than feudal superstition.

At eight o'clock in the evening, the city lights up and the streets are crowded with pedestrians. People go about their business as usual, without any sense of avoidance.

Silver Ring, with a slight smile on her face, swished her tail as she weaved through the crowd. Her destination was Times Square, located in the shopping district.

In the bustling square, a group of elderly people were dancing joyfully, swaying their hips and bobbing to the deafening music blaring from the speakers, creating a lively scene.

Upon arriving at the square, Yinhuan craned her neck to look around. Seeing an empty spot, her eyes lit up. She pulled Ahui along and squeezed into the group of middle-aged women. Then, with a flick of her tail and a sway of her waist, she joined them in dancing. This was a hobby Yinhuan had discovered the night before last.

The night before last, after having barbecue with Ahui, they decided against going to Ahui's cousin's house because it was getting late. She went out to catch a big fish. The fish she wanted to catch could be caught anywhere; she didn't necessarily need a specific destination.

Anyway, she's already left home, and the person hiding in the shadows will surely reappear by her side, so she's not in a hurry.

The night before last, we ate a big meal and were quite full, so Ahui suggested we go to the square to digest. During our digestion, Yinhuan discovered her hobby—dancing.

Looking at the elderly people in the square, their faces beaming with joy as they danced wildly, Yin Huan thought to herself, "Modern people are really interesting."

They were all full of life, their expressions, whether smiling or sorrowful, were incredibly vivid. They were completely different from the humans she had encountered in the mountains hundreds of years ago.

People in the past seemed to have been crushed by life, their expressions were numb, and they always seemed to be surrounded by something bitter, which made her extremely uncomfortable.

In the past, Silver Ring disliked going down the mountain, not only because the people below always wanted to capture and devour her, but also because they couldn't attract her attention. In her eyes, humans back then were like stagnant water, gloomy and lifeless.

"Little girl, you're here again. How's it going? Have you learned the Ghost Step yet?" A kind-hearted older woman chuckled and asked Yin Huan with a loving look in her eyes.

"I haven't learned it yet," Silver Ring said honestly. She flicked her tail and twisted her waist to the left twice, just like an old lady.

The older woman said, "It's okay, take your time learning. After we all leave, I'll send you a video. When you get home, just follow along with the video, and you'll definitely be able to learn it."

Silver Ring said gratefully, "Thank you, Auntie."

Ahui, who was dragged to dance with him, rolled his eyes and thought to himself: He doesn't even have legs, how can he learn to dance?

Two days later, Ahui finally managed to pry the truth out of Yinhuan's mouth.

It turns out that her tail had always been there, but it was concealed by an illusion, so these mortals couldn't see it.

Ah Hui said he was going to his cousin's house, and he'd been saying it for two days. For the past two days, Yin Huan had promised to go with him to visit his cousin, but after two days, they still hadn't reached his cousin's house.

The temptations from the outside world were too great, and Yin Huan's curiosity was too strong to resist. As soon as she stepped out the door, she forgot all about what she had promised.

Ah Hui, with a blank expression, stole a glance at the little girl who was jumping around happily: "You keep jumping, I'll go to the shop to buy a bottle of water."

Silver Ring waved her hand: "Go, go."

Ahui walked to a small shop by the square, bought a bottle of mineral water, unscrewed the cap, and took a sip. He looked up at Yinhuan in the crowd, then walked to the green trees in the square, took out his phone, and hesitated before making a call to his father, the town mayor back home.

As soon as the call connected and his father, the town mayor, spoke, Ahui's eyes welled up with tears. Having been away from home for two months, his father was the person he missed most.

He made the call only after Yin Huan made it clear that she didn't mind him contacting his family.

"Xiao Hui, where are you? Why haven't you contacted us for so long? If your cousin hadn't said you had contacted him, I would have thought you... By the way, those guys didn't come looking for you, did they?" Ahui's father was very worried about his son encountering this kind of thing.

But he was just an ordinary mortal, and he had no way to deal with demons and monsters. The only thing he could think of was to hide his son so that the other party could not find him.

Concern can cloud judgment, and Ahui's father became overly anxious, losing his usual composure. He didn't even consider that his son hadn't provoked the monster, so why would the monster want to capture him?

But he can't be blamed for that. Fairies, in the eyes of humans, are shrouded in mystery, and are seen as bloodthirsty, cruel, and inhuman.

Humans are born with fear.

"I'm in Qingcheng, Dad. I'm fine, you don't need to worry about me. Just call me if you need anything." Ahui didn't want his dad to worry too much, so he didn't tell him about meeting Yinhuan and the others.

The father and son greeted each other on the phone and chatted about everyday things. Before hanging up, Ahui's father said, "School's about to start, take care of yourself. By the way, Master Song brought people to our town again a few days ago. They seem to be looking for those monsters. Be careful, and if you run into Master Song, avoid him if you can. Don't get involved in those things again."

A father knows his son's personality best. Ah Hui was too enthusiastic, which is why he provoked those demons. Those things are born as beasts, utterly inhuman; if you push them too far, who knows if they might kill someone.

Although Master Song said that those demons were not bad demons, they were still demons regardless of whether they were good or bad.

"What? Master Song is here again?" Ahui paused, a look of doubt flashing in his eyes.
