In her previous life, Ye Zhen was the most noble lady in the capital, but her life was tragically miserable! Her identity was stolen, her adoptive parents forced her to marry to their death, her hu...
Ye Wantang's eyes lit up.
Even though they were no longer related, in the eyes of the world, Ye Zhen was still born to Wang.
As long as Wang Shi says some pleading words, everyone will think that Ye Zhen forced his mother to kneel down. No matter what reason Ye Zhen has, he will be criticized by the world.
That kneeling was so good.
Ye Zhen reacted quickly, shifting his position and glancing at Yin Jiu Niang at the same time.
The deep bond between the teacher and student, which had lasted for many years and was as close as that between a mother and daughter, gave them an exceptional understanding of each other.
Yin Jiuniang flicked a pebble without leaving a trace, hitting Wang Shi's foot. Wang Shi was thrown off course and knelt down in front of Ye Wantang with a thud.
Unbeknownst to her, she thought it was because her injuries hadn't healed and she was running too fast, causing her to lose her balance.
He immediately began wailing, "You heartless bastard! You let outsiders drive us out of the manor! You're trying to wipe us out, forcing us to die!"
"aunt!"
Ye Wantang was furious. She hadn't even knelt properly before she started yelling. Did she have eyes on the soles of her feet?
Even if she was wailing, she should at least mention her name. Otherwise, people would misunderstand. That's why I interrupted Wang and reminded her.
Only then did Wang realize that she had knelt in the wrong place, and she hurriedly turned around to kneel before Ye Zhen.
She wanted the whole world to know that Ye Zhen was trying to force her own parents to their deaths.
She's ruined her family of three so badly, and she still wants to be granted the title of Princess? Once she's branded as unfilial, she'll see how Ye Zhen can still act like a Princess.
But then Ye Zhen rebuked Ye Wantang, "You even laid a hand on your uncle and aunt?"
They didn't even want their own daughter, yet they protect you in everything. How could you possibly harm them?
Wang tried to explain, but Yin Jiuniang stopped her, and then she found herself unable to speak.
To outsiders, it appeared that Yin Jiuniang was helping her up, saying, "Madam Ye, you are an elder. Even if you have lived at the mercy of Wan Tang all these years, you shouldn't kneel before a junior like Wan Tang."
Wang found herself unable to speak, her face filled with terror.
Yin Jiuniang comforted her, "Don't be afraid, I'm here. I won't let Wantang harm people again. I'll have someone send you back to the Ye family right now."
However, the reason this child turned out this way is because you two spoiled her and didn't let her experience any of the kindness that is so precious.
Therefore, until I correct her behavior, none of you are allowed to move into the General's Mansion again, lest she take advantage of your pampering and act recklessly once more.
"I don't……"
"What nonsense is Yin Jiuniang spouting?" Ye Wantang wanted to refute.
But Ye Zhen interrupted him, "Ye Wantang, although they have tried to harm me repeatedly for your sake, they have not acted like parents."
But they did give birth to me. Even if they don't want me as their daughter, and I have no relation to them now, I can't just stand by and watch you harm them.
The passersby nodded, thinking that Ye Zhen was a man of integrity and loyalty.
Wang's eyes widened.
These are the lines she's supposed to say.
She originally wanted to tell Ye Zhen that even if you've climbed the social ladder and don't recognize us, we are still your biological parents.
First, you had your in-laws beat me and your father so badly that we were covered in bruises. Today, you're even using the power of outsiders to try and kick us out.
"Your father and I have suffered the loss of our son, and then been abandoned by our daughter. Now we are barely surviving, and only Wan Tang is willing to take care of us. You can't even tolerate this? Are you trying to force us to our deaths?"
She even wanted to kowtow to Ye Zhen, begging her to give her a way out.
People sympathize with the weak and place great emphasis on filial piety. When a mother kowtows and begs, people will subconsciously forget what happened before and stand on her side to condemn the unfilial daughter.
But she couldn't say anything now, and Ye Zhen interrupted her, making her face contort with anger.
Ye Wantang shouted, "You're talking nonsense! Why would I want to harm them? You're the ones who are driving her out of the manor!"
"You know why you hurt people. Maybe you were annoyed by them, or maybe they knew some secret about you."
Ye Zhen said calmly, "Or perhaps there is no reason at all, just like my being alive doesn't bother you, but you can't tolerate me."
And those civilians you killed, and the beggars you captured to be used for experiments.
Ye Wantang, you really don't resemble your aunt at all. I doubt whether you're even her daughter.
These words were Ye Wantang's Achilles' heel. She slapped Ye Zhen, who turned his face away and fell to the ground.
Ye Wantang knew perfectly well that she hadn't actually touched Ye Zhen, but she heard a crisp slap.
Then Ye Zhen covered her face with her sleeve and began to sob softly.
Those outside the door looked on and felt that Ye Wantang had really gone too far.
Wang felt the slap was well done, but suddenly her brow furrowed, followed by a sharp, yet somewhat familiar, pain that spread throughout her body.
It was the pain from when she fell in the bathroom that night.
Ye Zhen covered his face with his sleeve and blew the jade whistle in his hand, causing Wang to cry out in pain.
When she realized she could speak, the excruciating pain of her bones being torn apart made it impossible for her to utter a word.
Yin Jiuniang glared angrily at Ye Wantang, "What did you do to her? You also poisoned her."
How could you be so vicious? I really should teach you a lesson for Jinghong's sake.
She then shouted at the gatekeeper with exasperation, "Don't wash your dirty linen in public! She poisoned her aunt, and you're not closing the door? Are you just going to let outsiders laugh at you?"
The gates of the general's mansion were closed, but the crowd of onlookers did not leave.
Inside the mansion, Ye Wantang denied that she had done it, but Yin Jiuniang, as an elder of the General's Mansion, had Yin Yue and the others send her back to her room to reflect on her actions.
When Yin Jiuniang asked Wang Shi and the others to move out, Ye Wantang did not stop her. She even had Tan Ge explain her predicament of having no choice in the matter. The servants of the General's Mansion then believed that Yin Jiuniang was her mistress and no one stepped forward to stop her.
Ye Wantang reaped what she sowed.
The jade whistle continued, and Wang was writhing on the ground in pain. Yin Jiuniang pretended to take out a pill.
He said with pity, "You all brought this on yourselves, spoiling her to the point of being inhuman."
