The Legend of the Ferris Wheel
Chuuya and Dazai are currently queuing under Yokohama's largest Ferris wheel, the one that keeps appearing in the background, because Dazai has decided to make this his final destination.
Why does it have to be here?
Chu was somewhat puzzled, but Dazai was determined to choose this place as the final destination. To be honest, he had been here quite a few times, and it was one of the few places he liked. Many times, on the night after a mission ended, he would stand alone at the highest point of the Ferris wheel and look down at the city.
"Chuuya has never ridden one before, this is the first time for both of us to ride one~ Chuuya, have you ever heard the legend of the Ferris wheel?"
"What?"
Chuuya also became a little curious. Just then, it was their turn, so the two of them temporarily stopped talking and followed the staff's instructions to board one of the observation cabins.
Dazai only spoke after the Ferris wheel began to rise.
"I've heard that if two people in love kiss when a Ferris wheel reaches its highest point, they'll be together forever."
Dazai's tone was unusually serious, unlike his usual flippant manner. However, Chu didn't notice this; he was more interested in the content of Dazai's words and looked at Dazai with some surprise, raising his eyebrows.
"When did you start believing in these things?"
Dazai shifted his gaze from the window to Chuuya, meeting his eyes.
"Because I want to be with Chuuya for the rest of my life."
Chuuya's heart skipped a beat. Was it because he wanted to be with him forever that he believed these false legends...?
"But how long is your life? I don't want one that's too short."
Chuuya crossed his arms and tilted his head back as usual, but his suddenly accelerated speech revealed the insincerity of the body's owner.
"That's really too much. She's already trying so hard to live for Chuuya's sake, and now she's even trying hard to give up her suicide habit."
Faced with Chuuya's sudden stubbornness, Dazai simply sighed and took Chuuya's hand, knowing that his previous behavior had left a deep impression on people.
Chuuya thought about it for a moment, and it seemed that he had never seen Dazai commit suicide again after that day when he tacitly accepted this relationship.
Chuuya turned his face away, feigning composure, and said, "Then it depends on your performance."
"Although I still feel that this world is fake, the uncontrollable emotions and the accelerated heartbeat constantly remind me that I am still alive in this world and do not need to rely on death to find that sense of reality."
Chuuya felt something being put on his middle finger. Looking down, he saw it was a plain ring, with visible signs of handcrafting. When did Dazai prepare this? They were together every day.
Chuuya thought the same thing and asked the same question, instantly breaking the somewhat sentimental atmosphere. Dazai laughed helplessly, thinking that Chuuya really couldn't read the room.
"Probably when I suddenly realized that I had never told Chuuya my thoughts in person?"
"So this is what you prepared?"
"Yes, I made it myself, to give Chuuya a surprise!"
Chu also raised his hand and examined it closely; there were very fine patterns engraved on it.
Dazai casually raised his hand, revealing a matching ring on it.
Seeing that Chuuya's attention had been drawn to him, Dazai smiled and let Chuuya take his hand.
"Do you like it, Chuuya?"
"like."
"I like Chuuya too."
While Chuuya was still observing the differences between the two rings, he suddenly looked up. Unbeknownst to him, in a corner, Dazai's heart began to race uncontrollably. Dazai took a deep breath and continued speaking.
"I like Chuuya, I love Chuuya, it started a long time ago, without even realizing it myself."
The legend of the Ferris wheel may not be true, but I will try my best to make it so. Therefore, for Chuuya's sake, I will work hard and live to a ripe old age. Life is long, Chuuya, right?
Chuuya's eyes slowly widened, and after a few seconds of pause, his entire body visibly began to turn red, spreading from his cheeks to his ears.
"Isn't this obvious? I've said it before, I love you, Dazai. If you break your promise and lie to me, even if I go to hell, I'll drag you out and beat you up."
Seeing Chuuya's unusually serious expression, Dazai chuckled. He had no doubt about the truth of those words.
But why is it that at the very moments when the emotional moment should be right, Chuuya always manages to ruin the atmosphere perfectly? No wonder those comments say that Chuuya is a blockhead, which is very apt.
"Don't say such scary things at a time like this, Chuuya."
Zhong also made a breathy sound, neither confirming nor denying it.
"Chuuye, we're almost at the top."
Chuuya turned to look at Dazai, and the next second he was embraced, and Dazai's unique, slightly cool lips kissed him.
Dazai's body temperature is also lower than normal, which is a sequela of frequent water exposure.
Chuuya was still lost in thought when he felt a sharp pain on his lip. Dazai had bitten him as punishment for his distraction.
In this small space, only the sound of their intertwined breaths and the wet sound of their lips mingling could be heard.
Hmm~ The 'team' has started to take action.
Dazai stood alone in the middle of the road, lost in thought. All around him was an empty space, and the pedestrians had all vanished.
He knew about this ability, and about Annie's room, since Lucy was practically becoming an unofficial member of their detective agency later on.
But why did they take Chuuya away too, leaving him here alone to wait in vain? I should have held Chuuya's hand. It's all Mori-san's fault for suddenly appearing.
In the blink of an eye, Dazai disappeared from Chuuya's side, and he found himself in a dreamlike space. Chuuya saw Mr. Mori in his casual clothes and the detective agency's Hitotsubou.
Then Chuuya was completely ignored, with no attacks landing on him. Mr. Mori deliberately steered the conversation toward the tiger, and finally left after watching the whole show.
Chuuya nodded to Mori-san, who was not far away, while Dazai watched quietly from the side.
It wasn't until Mr. Mori and Alice had walked away that Dazai suddenly spoke up, making a sudden remark.
"I've had enough of Chuuya."
"Didn't you say before that you were quite curious about other worlds?"
"I'm curious about the world that Chuuya encountered, a world that is completely different from ours. This world is almost identical to ours. Although it can annoy my fellow stand-ins, it's still so boring. I also have to keep my distance from Chuuya, like having an affair."
Although they had been together the whole time, the thin veil between them was finally broken after they got off the Ferris wheel.
Simply put, both of them want to get close, but they have to pretend because of the previous script. Dazai didn't expect to be tricked by himself here.
Listening to Dazai's complaints, Chuuya somewhat agreed, but wasn't this the script you wrote yourself?
"Then let's quickly resolve the 'combination' and head straight to the next world."
Dazai's eyes lit up, and he agreed with Chuuya's idea.
"Anyway, Mr. Mori won't release Q. Their target is the detective agency. Let's go kidnap the white whale now, change the settings, and trick him into coming here to clean up the mess."
