Chapter 34 The Whiskey Trio's Daily Life [VIP]

Zhu Fujingguang's expression remained unchanged: "Why are you paying so much attention to me?"

"Ah~ It's good to be serious during missions, right, friend?" Shuichi Akai said casually.

"Oh, since we're friends, then don't ask any more questions." Morofushi Kagemitsu smiled gently at the other person, "This is my ability."

“That’s really good.” Shuichi Akai smiled and asked no more questions.

Before getting into the car, Shuichi Akai smoked a cigarette outside to let the smell dissipate before boarding. "Sorry, but I need to have a smoke to clear my head."

"It's alright." Morobushi Kagemitsu sat in the back seat looking at his phone, and only felt relieved after learning that Cheng You had already had his blood drawn.

"I'll write the mission report this time." He rubbed his temples, feeling somewhat tired from being on guard for so long.

"Okay. But... are you alright? Maybe you need a cigarette to relax."

"No, thank you." Moribushi Kagemitsu closed his eyes to rest in the car.

Back at the organization, Morofushi Hiromitsu encountered Bourbon, who had just returned from training, and greeted him with a smile, "Bourbon."

"Hey Scotland, finished your mission? You seem a bit tired," Furuya Rei said with some concern.

"I'm fine. Want to grab a bite to eat? I'll cook." Morofushi Kagemitsu raised an eyebrow, then turned to Akai Shuichi and asked, "Are you coming?"

Rei Furuya glanced coldly at Shuichi Akai, who stood to the side with an expressionless face, feeling utterly disdainful.

Shuichi Akai smiled faintly: "Well, I didn't know there were so many people in Scotland." He greeted Rei Furuya with a smile, "Oh, you're Bourbon. I'm Ray, nice to meet you."

"Oh." Furuya Rei nodded, continuing his conversation with Morofushi Kagemitsu, "Scotland, why don't you go and rest? You look terrible, Rye must have been enslaving you, right?"

"Hahaha..." Zhu Fujingguang chuckled dryly twice.

Rei Furuya glared at Shuichi Akai, then put his arm around Kagemitsu Morofushi's shoulder and left.

Shuichi Akai: ? ? No, what do you mean? Are you that hostile towards me?

In the kitchen of the branch headquarters, the group busied themselves tidying up. Shuichi Akai rolled up his sleeves, looking eager to try. Rei Furuya glanced at him and said casually, "You can cook too?"

"Can cook simple food."

"Oh." Furuya Rei ignored him and continued chatting with Morofushi Kagemitsu. "Shall we have ham sandwiches today? I'm best at making them, I'll help you make them."

“Sure, but Bourbon, can you…?” Morofushi Kagemitsu blinked uncertainly. He had taught Zero to cook for a long time before, but they always ate in the cafeteria at the police academy. Later, when they joined the Public Security Bureau, Morofushi Kagemitsu would cook for the two of them, or they would eat at a restaurant.

I wonder what happened to Zero all these years ago.

"Well, I'm alright, but I'll need some guidance from you, Scotland," Furuya Rei said somewhat embarrassedly.

Shuichi Akai fiddled with something for a while, preparing to give it a try. He even looked up a cooking tutorial online and finally chose to make beef stew with potatoes.

He pondered the matter slowly on his own, but he wasn't sure about the dosage of some of the seasonings and wanted to ask Scotland for advice. Meanwhile, Morofushi Kagemitsu had already started preparing the ingredients, with Furuya Rei helping him.

"Hey Scotland, how do you adjust this?" he asked, holding up his phone to inquire about the required information for this step.

Morifushi Kagemitsu glanced at him sideways, a hint of gentleness still in his eyes, "Ah, it's just..."

"Oh! Thank you!" Shuichi Akai nodded in satisfaction and turned back to prepare his own food.

"What? You don't even know this?" Furuya Rei said with his crescent-shaped eyes as the other person moved far enough away.

"Do you know why you still can't cook well even with this ingredient?" Akai Hideaki said calmly.

"Huh? I can't cook well?" Furuya Rei perked up immediately and grabbed a pot from the counter. "Let me show you, I'm a really good cook!"

“Okay, let’s give it a try.” Shuichi Akai readily accepted the little contest.

Caught between the two, Morofushi Kagemitsu simply smiled and gave them helpless instructions, genuinely afraid that they would blow up the kitchen.

After cutting the potatoes and beef into a crooked shape, Shuichi Akai received a call from Gin.

What are you doing?

"Ray, we have a mission." Gin's low, husky voice rang out, and the entire kitchen fell silent.

"I'm very busy."

"Didn't you just finish a mission? Is there anything else you need?"

"..." Shuichi Akai glanced provocatively at Rei Furuya, then looked at the colorful food. "A major life event." With that, he hung up the phone.

Rei Furuya ignored the other party's provocation and focused on making the ham sandwich.

The next second, Rei Furuya's phone rang on the table next to him.

“Scotland, could you answer the phone for me?” He raised an eyebrow at Morofushi Kagemitsu.

Morofushi Kagemitsu picked up his phone and glanced at it. "Hmm... I don't think I can answer it for you." Just as Furuya Rei was about to ask why, he added the second half of the sentence, "It's Gin's call."

“?!” Furuya Rei frowned and took the phone from the other person’s hand.

Shuichi Akai raised an eyebrow. "You're not here to do a mission for me too, are you? Hahaha, even Gin has lost his prestige."

Rei Furuya answered the phone, "Gin, what's up?"

"Bourbon, mission." For some reason, Gin's voice was rather cold.

"No time," Furuya Rei said calmly, looking at the prepared ingredients.

"..." There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone. "What is it?"

"It's something important, you wouldn't understand anyway, I'm hanging up." He hung up the phone and tossed it aside.

He exchanged a glance with Akai Hideaki, then looked at Morofushi Kagemitsu.

Morofushi Kagemitsu: "...Why are you all looking at me like that?"

“Don’t agree to do a mission when Gin asks you to,” Shuichi Akai said. “We really can’t do this without you.”

"It can't be that bad," Morofushi Kagemitsu scratched his head somewhat awkwardly. "I just finished two missions, so I should be able to take a break."

As expected, a few minutes later, most likely after Gin had asked many people to reject him, he remembered that there was a Scottish man who was on vacation.

Reluctantly, Morofushi Kagemitsu took the phone, and the first words on the other end were indeed, "Scotland, mission."

"Hmm... I'm afraid I don't have time."

"What major life events are you planning to have?" Gin asked with a hint of skepticism.

"……No."

"Do you have something very important to say?"

"……No."

"Then let's go do the mission."

"..." Morofushi Kagemitsu was silent for a moment before speaking, "I have a philosophical question about life to ponder."

"..."

"So, I feel like I can't concentrate on the task at hand."

"..."

"I'll hang up now, Gin." Morofushi Kagemitsu chuckled as he hung up the phone, then turned to the two people who had been eavesdropping. "Alright, you two should focus on learning how to cook."

Shortly after, Morofushi Hiromitsu received a text message from Rum urging him to submit the report on this mission as soon as possible.

He briefly explained the subsequent cooking process to Rei Furuya and Shuichi Akai, then went back to his room to write a report.

"Don't worry, I've already learned it," Shuichi Akai said with a smile. "I feel like I'm ready to take the chef's certification exam."

Morofushi Hiromitsu spent more than an hour writing the report and forwarded it to Rum via email, thinking that after so long, Ray and Bourbon should have finished it by now.

As he leisurely thought this, the moment he stood up, Morofushi Kagemitsu heard a huge roar and felt the ground shake twice.

Upon opening the door, I saw that everyone in the organization was in a hurry and talking noisily.

Morofushi Kagemitsu was taken aback and asked one of the members, "What's going on?"

"Oh dear, I heard the kitchen exploded!" the man exclaimed in shock, then muttered a few more words in a low voice, which Morofushi Kagemitsu overheard.

"It's really strange. The kitchen, which hasn't been used for so many years, suddenly exploded. I wonder if it was an enemy ambush. It really scared us to death."

The kitchen? Morobuchi Kagemitsu was startled, realizing something was wrong; Zero was still in the kitchen. By the time he rushed over, the fire had been extinguished, but he couldn't see Zero or Rae anywhere. Just as he was about to go in to look for them, he saw two pitch-black figures emerge from inside.

"?" Morifushi Kagemitsu looked over and found it somewhat familiar.

"!!!!" Damn! Morofushi Kagemitsu was very surprised. He recognized them! It was Zero and Rai.

"Pfft—" Morofushi Kagemitsu couldn't help but laugh, but slowly stopped under the speechless gazes of the two little charcoal figures. "No, you guys... haha cough cough, what's wrong with you guys?"

"It's him!" Rei Furuya glared at Rai and said, "If you can't cook, don't try to be a hero! Look at the mess you've made of the kitchen!!"

"Your bread caught fire first! It caught fire! It caught fire right away!" Shuichi Akai said.

“But I put out the fire on the bread! And the bread only had a few sparks. You put the cake in the oven, and it was smoking! Smoking! Do you know what that means? It was smoking!” Rei Furuya said, his eyes wide, making a smoking gesture with his hand.

Morofushi Kagemitsu's mind was filled with "It's on fire~" and "It's smoking~", and he was trying so hard to suppress his laughter that his stomach hurt.

“But it didn’t catch fire!” Shuichi Akai retorted.

"No fire?! I suspect the kitchen fire started because you blew up the oven!" Furuya Rei said irritably.

"It was caused by a spark from your bread hitting the appliance!"

The two continued arguing, and Morifushi Kagemitsu suppressed the urge to laugh and said, "Is it possible that the appliances in this place are too old?"

"So what? Why did it have to explode when Ray went to the kitchen, and not at some other time?!"

"What? This is your first time organizing the kitchen at this outpost, right?"

"What happened?" A familiar voice, tinged with coldness, rang out, startling everyone who turned to look.

"Oh dear, why is there smoke coming from the kitchen?" Vermouth, who was standing next to Gin, exclaimed in surprise, but only for a moment. Her attention was more focused on the two little charcoal figures. "Oh! What happened to you two?"

"What's going on? Is this what you were talking about—" Gin looked at Shuichi Akai, "A major life event? Hmm... blowing up the kitchen is indeed a major life event."

"Important things? I don't understand?" Gin looked at Rei Furuya. "Indeed, I really don't understand why you consider blowing up a kitchen to be important."

"Contemplating the philosophy of life?" He looked at Morofushi Kagemitsu. "Hmm... It's good that you weren't involved in the kitchen explosion. But how do you contemplate the philosophy of life? What lessons can you learn from a kitchen explosion?"

Whiskey and the other two: "………………………………" I'm speechless. I should have just blown up this base too.

A note from the author:

The next two or three chapters will most likely depict the daily lives of the whiskey trio, which can also be considered part of the distillery's daily life, haha (maybe a bit out of character, ort).
