Chapter 12 Mountain of Inquiry

After several days of flying, Gu Changqing and his party are about to arrive at the Wenxin Mountain Range.

Looking at the Wenxin Mountain Range so close at hand, everyone marveled at this largest mountain in the Northern Region. Even standing on the ark, all they could see when they looked up were layers of clouds, and the summit was nowhere to be seen.

A group of people stood on the deck of the ark, with the Grand Elder of the Falling Clouds Sect leading the way.

The First Elder looked at Gu Changqing standing beside him and said calmly:

"Wuxin, you still don't know the origin of Wenxin Mountain?"

"Without intention, one cannot know."

"Well, the others already knew while they were in the sect, but since you don't know yet, I'll explain it again."

"According to ancient records, Wenxin Mountain was where the most powerful cultivator in the Northern Region debated with people from the Holy Land 100,000 years ago."

The person from the Holy Land asked three questions. The first two were about feelings and about the Way. The expert gave his opinion on these two questions without hesitation, and the person from the Holy Land agreed with the expert's opinion.

This final question, the question of the heart, was something this wise man pondered for a whole year before offering only a vague opinion. However, unlike the previous two questions, the people of the holy land did not agree with this opinion.

Finally, after ten years of sitting between the master and the person from the holy land, the person from the holy land left, leaving only the words, "Come back to him when you find your own answer."

The master, however, seemed to have gone mad with power. After the people from the holy land left, he remained seated for a thousand years, unable to rise. When his enemies came seeking him out, he was still in the same posture as a thousand years ago, and he didn't move an inch even after his life was ended by his enemies.

"So, what are the thoughts of you chosen ones?"

After speaking, the elder asked the crowd.

Except for Gu Changqing, everyone else lowered their heads in deep thought, as if trying to comprehend the state of mind of the Great Dao.

Seeing that everyone was deep in thought, the Grand Elder shouted loudly.

"Youngsters, this is not something you should be worrying about. You are not qualified yet. Focus on the Northern Region Competition first."

Upon hearing the elder's words, everyone snapped out of their reverie and bowed their heads to thank him.

"Thank you for your guidance, Elder."

...

Gu Changqing, however, said something to the Grand Elder with a blank expression.

"I have no heart, so how can I question my heart?"

The Grand Elder merely smiled upon hearing this.

"Hehe, you do indeed deserve this title, Wuxin? But this answer is not enough. It's not just about asking your heart. You will understand when you enter the Holy Land in the future."

After speaking, the Grand Elder directed the disciples accompanying the boat to land.

Gu Changqing looked at the Mountain of Inquiry, seemingly lost in thought.

As Gu Changqing was pondering, Gu Nan, seeing the Grand Elder leave, walked over to Gu Changqing's side.

"Holy Son, do you remember me?"

Gu Changqing merely glanced at this woman, the most beautiful he had ever encountered, and simply replied:

"I remember you are Gu Nan, the direct disciple of Luoxia Peak. What business do you have with me?"

Upon hearing this, Gu Nan's expectation diminished considerably, and she asked Gu Changqing in a resentful voice:

"I'm Gu Nan! Chang Qing, don't you remember me? Or have you forgotten that I even existed after these past five years?"

Upon hearing these resentful words, which included the name Changqing, he frowned deeply.

"She called me Changqing. The five-year agreement? What does that mean? The original owner had no memory of her at all. No, besides the customers and Gu Nan, the original owner's memory of the Gu family seemed to only include the three of them."

"Why is this happening? The Gu family is so powerful just because Gu Nan is strong. It's impossible that there are only three of them. Gu Nan also has the surname Gu. Is it a coincidence or something else?"

Since she was a customer who sat down for a personal consultation, and she also had the surname Gu, she was very likely a family member of mine, but I had no memory of any family members at all.

Now it seems that either the original owner died and took away a part of his memories, or the original owner's memories were deliberately deleted or sealed. However, given that I have most of the original owner's memories, the first possibility is very small, so we can now confirm that it is the second one.

Furthermore, based on the comparison of memories before and after, the difference is exactly about one year from five years ago, and I hadn't noticed it before. It must be that someone or some force deliberately interfered with my recalling this lost memory. Now, it can be confirmed that it's the second possibility: someone or something deliberately deleted or sealed this part of the original owner's memory.

These thoughts were fleeting, but in Gu Nan's eyes, Gu Changqing answered her question quickly.

"Remember, I am the Holy Son, and you are his direct disciple. I will spare you this time because you are the ancestor's disciple. Now step back."

Upon hearing Gu Changqing's cold words, Gu Nan's eyes reddened, and she quickly ran into the boat.

"Gu Nan must know about my memories from five years ago, but since the Grand Elder is above her, I can't take action for now. I'll lure her out when we go to Wenxin Mountain and force her to reveal her memories."

Moreover, judging from her behavior and tone, she's about five years older than me. And given her actions and her eagerness to ask me about events from five years ago, she must be, in my memory, my original cousin or someone who loved me.

Having deduced Gu Nan's approximate identity, Gu Changqing then devised a plan to lure Gu Nan out and capture her alive.

A moment later, the ark arrived at the foot of Wenxin Mountain. Before the ark could land, the Grand Elder activated his spiritual power to envelop Gu Changqing and his group, and in the blink of an eye, they landed at the foot of the mountain.
