"You're saying dark matter has disappeared?"

"They searched the entire base and asked everyone. Nobody knows where it is."

Someone was talking loudly in my ear, like muffled thunder in the sky.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were in there.” Ji Fenglan glanced at the blood-stained metal piece, smiled apologetically, but her eyes lacked sincerity. She held up the black box in her hand. “It’s a part of dark matter; the closer the two are, the stronger the reaction.”

The black box trembled incessantly, causing Ji Fenglan's hands to shake as if he had Parkinson's disease.

"Really not here?" Ji Fenglan muttered to himself, his amber eyes glancing intentionally or unintentionally at "Li Nai," who was focused on removing other pieces of metal from his back.

"It's right here, inside my body."

"Oh?" Ji Fenglan asked, surprised. "How could that be?"

"Li Nai" stopped, giving her a cold glance, his dark eyes already seeing right through her. "You guessed it long ago." He didn't continue to question her about concealing the truth.

It doesn't care.

His amber eyes narrowed and darkened. Ji Fenglan said, "I have a way to bring out dark matter, as long as you tell me what you want."

Li Nai removed the last small piece of iron deep within her muscle. Straightening his back, he moved swiftly and aggressively toward her.

Ji Fenglan looked at "Li Nai" in front of her, who was shorter than her but had a high-spirited demeanor.

His dark, emotionless eyes stared at her. "Everything you know is given to you by me." He didn't blink, forcing her to step back.

Ji Fenglan reluctantly took a step back, and then listened to what "Li Nai" said.

"Send Qi Shuihan and Misike to the room that resembles Dr. Normage's laboratory. I have a use for them."

The long box surrounding Missy's eyes unlocked automatically and fell, hanging around her neck. Bright light pierced her pupils, and after squinting to adjust, she observed the things within her field of vision.

Aside from the guards, the room's layout looked increasingly familiar, exactly like the laboratory in my mind's eye.

She struggled, but her wrists were tightly bound. Looking down, she found herself tied to an office chair. To her right was Qi Shuihan, who was standing motionless.

A single eyeball slid down the corner of the fox's eye, glancing down at her sideways. Qi Shuihan knew she was beside her.

I turned my gaze away and looked around at my surroundings again.

Within seconds, two long, arched eyebrows converged near the center of her brow. Missy remembered.

My mother's laboratory was destroyed in a fire long ago, how could it possibly have survived intact until now?

The glass door slid open, letting in two women who approached Missyco.

"Oh? You noticed." Ji Fenglan rested one hand on her slender waist, her face always bearing a faint smile.

"What are you trying to do by going to such lengths to copy this?" Mishi asked calmly, without a trace of fear of being controlled.

Ji Fenglan remained silent, her expression suggesting she was waiting for the person next to her.

Turning my gaze to "Li Nai," he still looked like a lifeless puppet.

A silence filled the four-person room for a few minutes.

"You want to know why your mother was burned to death, instead of drowning or poisoning her."

Li Nai's icy words pierced Misi Ke's heart, and her deep eyes flashed with anger and ruthlessness.

"You'll see soon enough." It didn't care about the ants' hostility.

Li Nai glanced at Ji Fenglan, who understood.

It closes its eyes, sensing the subtle pulse, like the heartbeat of the wind.

He opened his eyes again and quietly observed Qi Shuihan and Mi Xike.

"Whom do you choose to live?"

The two of them stared at it with strange looks in their eyes.

“I know you can see and hear.”

Ji Fenglan ordered the guards to carry a bucket of gasoline and first pour it at the feet of Mi Xike and Qi Shuihan, then pour it on the ground, leaving a wet trail, before walking out.

The pungent smell of gasoline lingered silently in the air.

The system waited a while, then patiently taught Li Nai how to leave.

Ten minutes or so passed.

"Li Nai" glanced at Ji Fenglan.

Ji Fenglan lit the gasoline, dropped it, and it landed on the ground.

With a whoosh, the fire ignited and in the blink of an eye, it was close to the feet of Mi Xike and Qi Shuihan.

One man glanced down at the ground, while another suddenly lifted his foot, causing him and his chair to fall to the ground. Mishiko craned his neck, staring at the fire.

A meter away, the fierce flames suddenly stopped, as if an invisible wall had blocked them.

Missy breathed a sigh of relief, but her eyes darted back to Qi Shuihan's heel; the short, thick metal cylinder was indeed there. She hadn't been mistaken when she fell.

A thought struck her, and she looked up at Qi Shuihan. His fox-like eyes met hers. He blinked twice. Then twice more. She lowered her gaze, lost in thought.

A gust of hot air hit my calves.

They discovered that the fire had advanced halfway, and the chaotic tongues of flame were trembling violently.

"Hold on, I'm going to deal with it."

As the calm voice fell, Li Nai's composed expression vanished, replaced by a face flushed red from straining.

"Why aren't you two leaving?!" he roared.

The two exchanged a glance; it was Li Nai who had returned.

"You even have time to make eye contact!"

Li Nai's face was contorted with embarrassment, and her two hands, which were grasping at the air, trembled.

"They can't leave." Someone breathed close behind her ear.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a faint smile on the man's exquisitely handsome, ascetic face. His amber eyes suddenly shifted elsewhere, and he gave instructions to his subordinates.

"Don't let her get away."

The subordinate poured another layer of gasoline on Misike, who was secretly moving, and then kicked him back. With this kick, Misike slid and bumped into Qi Shuihan's calf.

Li Nai was worried that if he relaxed his control even slightly, the fire would instantly engulf everything.

"Misik!"

Whoosh!

A piece of silver-white silk appeared out of thin air, just in time to block the fire.

In the blink of an eye, the dazzling silk disappeared, along with Misi Ke and Qi Shuihan.

Ji Fenglan looked around intently, searching for their figures, and spotted Misiko under the long table not far away.

The most dangerous Qi Shuihan has disappeared without a trace.

Shaking my head to take a look

The only human subordinate coughed up blood from his neck, which was a meter high. His body fell to the ground and struggled. After a few seconds, the movement subsided until he stiffened.

Beside the corpse stood Qi Shuihan, a strand of wet hair between two fingers. She shook off the foul smell of gasoline as she walked towards her. Her fox-like eyes were fixed on her, a smile playing on her lips.

Ji Fenglan took a step back, but before she could take another step, Qi Shuihan rushed over, his right hand flashing with silver light.

Her amber eyes were fixed on the tip of the knife, and for a moment she felt as if it had pierced her pupils.

The glasses flew off and landed on the ground in gasoline, the lenses shiny and slippery.

Ji Fenglan turned around, his nose meeting the gleaming blade.

A wisp of hair, swept away by the blade, was cleaved in two.

With a slight tremor in her amber eyes, Li Nai glanced to the right. She turned to the side and gripped Qi Shuihan's wrist tightly with one hand. Her brows and eyes were stiff and cold, and her dark pupils moved to the corner of her eye. From the angle, it seemed that she was looking at Qi Shuihan—seeing her strained expression, she still wanted to launch another attack.

"You only have enough substance left in your body to unleash one move."

After saying that, he gently flicked the hand that was holding Qi Shuihan's wrist, and Qi Shuihan flew up and crashed into the long table that Mi Xike was leaning against.

Two legs of the long table broke off, the tabletop tipped over, and Qi Shuihan lay on the ground struggling for a while before finally falling back down.

Misik's lips trembled, his deep eyes beneath his high, prominent brows glaring at "Li Nai," two blazing flames gathering within them. "You've already obtained dark matter, why do you still want to burn her alive!"

Li Nai gave her one last cold, empty glance before looking at the Rubik's Cube in her palm and said in a low voice, "If you really get dark matter, why bother with another system-host drama?"

The system suddenly stepped aside, making way for Ji Fenglan, who was a few steps behind it.

"Assuming she hadn't been there, given your mother's subsequent actions, she wouldn't have died at all. However, I have to thank her. Without her continuously injecting Yu Duo with medication throughout the night, I don't know when I would have been able to connect with Yu Duo's body."

Misi's brow twitched, and her wolfish gaze fell on Ji Fenglan.
