Hua Shi transmigrated, inexplicably becoming a lazy, gluttonous, and universally detested vicious older sister who routinely took pleasure in bullying her four young siblings.
Her eldest brot...
The sun emerged from a gap in the clouds, and the air gradually became scorching hot, shining fiercely on the ground...
“Squeak…”
The sound of densely packed bamboos colliding with each other is particularly obvious in the silent forest.
"Xiaoying, come here."
In the dark green bamboo forest, a light-colored figure is hidden.
Hua Shi frowned and pried hard at the still fresh bamboo shoots. I don't know if it's the wrong season, but in such a large bamboo forest, there are only a few good, tender shoots. They have all grown old.
This bamboo forest is not far from Hua's home, separated by a lake and a small forest. She discovered it by chance when she went into the mountains to look for food yesterday.
Huaying sat in the middle of a large piece of bamboo shoots that had been cut down during the flower season, breaking off the hard and thick outer skin of the bamboo shoots. With a tense little face, she broke them off seriously, as if she didn't hear the sound coming from behind.
A gentle breeze blew through the bamboo forest, and the pleasant sound of the bamboo slapping was particularly clear.
“Xiaoying…?” Hua Shi stood in the bamboo forest and called Huaying a few times, but no one responded. When he turned around, he saw the little guy sitting among the bamboo shoots, concentrating on picking bamboo shoots.
She brought Huaying and climbed out from the low wall of the Hua family. It was not difficult. There were a lot of firewood piled on both sides of the low wall. They could easily climb out by stepping on the firewood.
She told Huaying to go find something delicious. The little one was so hungry that he saw stars. When he heard there was something delicious, he looked at her eagerly, said a few words to her, and then followed her out stupidly...
Hua Shi called out twice more, but Hua Ying still didn't respond. It was getting late, so he looked at the ground covered with bamboo leaves, bamboos and bamboo shoots of all sizes, and thought that was enough.
The bamboo shoots on the ground can be used to make a big delicious dish... fried bamboo shoots, stir-fried bamboo shoots with shredded pork, stir-fried bamboo shoots with shredded pork and pickled vegetables... Unfortunately, now she can only make boiled bamboo shoots slices.
If she was not mistaken, these should be spring bamboo shoots.
It's just the wrong season. It's already July and most of the bamboo shoots are too old to eat. Spring bamboo shoots usually mature between January and May and are at their most tender.
There aren't many edible bamboo shoots on this pile...
Hua Shi walked back and said, "Xiaoying, put the tender tips into the basket. We should go back."
But as soon as he finished speaking, he lowered his head and walked closer to take a look, and was stunned.
The little fellow was sitting among the bamboo shoots, with a pile of bitten and shredded bamboo shoots piled up at his feet, and many of the bamboo shoot tips still had tiny teeth marks on them.
"Xiaoying?! Why are you still eating it raw? Spit it out quickly!" Hua Shi was shocked and said hurriedly.
The naughty kid seemed not to hear anything. He puffed up his cheeks and buried his head in peeling the bamboo shoots, but his puffed mouth made him chew even faster.
Hua Shi went up and pulled the bamboo shoots out of his hand, pinching his little chin with one hand.
The little guy was very stubborn. When Hua Shi pinched his chin, he gulped down the bamboo shoots in his mouth and began to swallow them whole. He swallowed so quickly that he choked and gasped.
"Huaying!! I asked you to spit it out!" Hua Shi was so anxious that he pinched his chin hard. The little guy's eyes were filled with tears in pain, but he refused to spit it out.
Hua Shi didn't expect that she had carefully told him not to eat it and to wait until he was cooked before eating it. However, the little guy pretended not to hear her and ate a lot of raw bamboo shoots behind her back.
These spring bamboo shoots are not poisonous, but they are cold in nature and sweet in taste. They contain insoluble oxalic acid. Eating too much is difficult to digest and can cause gastrointestinal discomfort...
"Mmmmm... Let go!!" The little guy seemed to have noticed that Hua Shi was about to take the food out of his mouth, and he cried out in panic.
Hua Shi ignored his pleading eyes and forcefully dug out the bamboo shoot residue from his mouth, which he had not yet swallowed, bit by bit, while soothing him, "Xiaoying, be obedient."
Hua Shi finally breathed a sigh of relief after he had dug the thing out.
The little guy was irritated and struggled to break free from her hand. He covered his mouth and sobbed, half accusingly saying, "Wuwuwu... bad..."
Hua Shi had a headache. "You can't eat this raw. It'll upset your stomach and make you ache. Didn't I tell you that?"
There were still a lot of rotten bamboo shoots on the ground. I don’t know how much Huaying had eaten. If she ate too much, she would probably have indigestion and stomachache soon.
"Wuwuwu..." The only response to Hua Shi was Huaying's whimpering cry. The little guy seemed to have no strength left, and his crying sounded like a kitten.
"Don't cry, I promise there will be something delicious. I'll cook it for you when we get home. What's so good about eating this raw? It's dry and astringent, and it cuts your tongue..."
Hua Shi comforted the little guy while picking up the scattered bamboo shoots on the ground.
After a while, Huaying stopped crying and sat on the ground without moving or paying any attention to Hua Shi, as if she was angry.
Hua Shi tried to pull his little hand, but the little guy twisted his shoulders angrily and refused to let Hua Shi touch him.
"Bad guy!" The little guy's voice was soft and hoarse, full of anger.
Hua Shi was a little embarrassed and said, "Okay, okay, I'm a bad guy, I won't drag you down with me."
Hua Shi said that he would not pull him, but before he could react, he grabbed the back of his collar with one hand, lifted him up, and made him stand.
"Let's go, we're going back. I will really make you something delicious. Can you trust me this time?" Hua Shi said.
The little guy looked at her doubtfully, his pair of black eyes seemed big and round because of his thin face. His little face was also dirty, with black spots here and there.
…
In a small, unremarkable hut amidst a sea of farmhouses, a puff of smoke rose from the kitchen. As long as you got closer, you could hear the clattering of pots and pans coming from inside...
Hua Shi was busy for a while, and soon came out of the small kitchen with a large plate of boiled bamboo shoots.
