"Okay." Huo Lin immediately stopped what he was doing, closed his laptop, got up and went to the table to pour a glass of water. He made sure the water temperature was right before handing it to the woman.

Xun Ting put the straw directly into the water and drank it close to her mouth; she could sense that the man's mood had become even more depressed.

She thought it was just being dramatic. As long as you're alive and healthy, what can't you overcome? Is it worth trapping yourself in pain for the rest of your life because of a past that can never be returned to?

Just as she was lost in thought, she accidentally knocked over a glass, which hit the bedside table, and shards of glass flew out and cut her arm.

"Ah..." Xun Ting couldn't help but cry out in pain as she looked at the large piece of glass on her arm.

"What's wrong? Does it hurt? I'll take you to the hospital." Huo Lin, who was initially nervous, made a quick decision after seeing the shards of glass on her arm.

He reached out, picked up the woman, and walked outside, starting his car and heading towards the hospital.

Xun Ting lay in the back seat, his gaze fixed on his arm. He hadn't felt any pain for a long time; this was the first time in many years.

The pain made her feel like a real, living person.

The car quickly stopped at the hospital entrance. Huo Lin nervously picked up the woman and rushed upstairs to the emergency room, where he placed her on a bed.

The doctors inside were startled; it was the first time they'd ever seen someone so anxious, so the injury must be quite serious. "What happened? Where are you hurt?"

"The arm." Huo Lin pointed to the side of the woman's arm with the glass on it.

The doctor's lips twitched involuntarily when he saw it. It wasn't that they thought it wasn't a serious injury, but rather that such a minor injury didn't warrant coming to the emergency room at all.
