Jiang Qinyu transmigrated and suddenly had a son and a daughter. Although they weren't her biological children, it wasn't a big problem.
Most importantly, she didn't have a husban...
Thinking that Lu Yanzheng hadn't eaten or rested properly for several days, Jiang Qinyu didn't argue with him. She rolled her eyes at him and turned to go to the small kitchen.
Lu Yanzheng followed him inside and, seeing that the small kitchen had been cleaned up, asked curiously, "Madam, are you going to use the small kitchen?"
"Well, Shufan and Pan'er don't really like Uncle Zhao's cooking, so I plan to cook for them myself whenever I have time," Jiang Qinyu replied casually as she lifted the lid of the stewing beef pot.
As soon as the pot lid was lifted, Lu Yanzheng immediately sniffed it, his eyes shining brightly. "What delicious food has Madam made?"
It smells amazing; he's never smelled anything so delicious before.
"Braised beef brisket with tomatoes," Jiang Qinyu said casually.
She had guessed beforehand that Lu Yanzheng might not eat the food Yu Hanyan cooked, so she made two preparations.
Originally, she thought that if Lu Yanzheng wasn't hungry tonight, or if he ate the food Yu Hanyan made, then they could eat this dish tomorrow. The beef brisket would be more flavorful if it was braised longer, and the child would be able to eat it too.
It's ready to serve now, and it's suitable for a normal adult.
"What is a tomato?" Lu Yanzheng had never heard of this word before.
Jiang Qinyu remembered that tomatoes didn't exist in this world yet, and after thinking for a moment, she said, "Tomatoes are a crop that can be used as both fruit and vegetable. They taste sweet and sour and can also be used to season soup bases."
Lu Yanzheng nodded as if he understood, staring longingly at the pot of beef brisket.
Jiang Qinyu tasted the salty and sweet broth with a small spoon, and after confirming that the taste was fine, she turned to Lu Yanzheng and said, "Go and start the fire, I'll make you a bowl of noodles."
Lu Yanzheng glanced at the pot of stewing beef brisket and said, "You're just going to make me a bowl of noodles?"
Her tone was full of grievance.
Jiang Qinyu blinked and nodded, "What, isn't one bowl of noodles enough for you?"
Lu Yanzheng choked. He couldn't very well say he wanted to eat that pot of tomato stewed beef brisket, could he?
But considering that Jiang Qinyu had no feelings for him, Lu Yanzheng could only sigh inwardly and obediently went to start the fire.
Seeing his reaction, Jiang Qinyu suppressed a laugh and quickly prepared the ingredients.
Before she transmigrated, she was considered a rich second-generation, but due to her dissatisfaction with her scumbag father, she also went through a period of hardship, and that's when she honed her cooking skills.
Thinking of her scumbag father, Jiang Qinyu couldn't help but sigh.
I wonder how my mother is doing. If she knew I was dead, she probably wouldn't be able to bear it.
"The water's boiling," Lu Yanzheng reminded Jiang Qinyu when she seemed distracted.
Jiang Qinyu suddenly snapped out of her reverie, cleared her mind of all distractions, and put the noodles into the pot.
Forget it, those are things of the past. What's the use of worrying about them now? She can only hope that her mother can pull through.
As soon as the noodles were cooked, Lu Yanzheng came out from behind the stove. Just as he was about to reach for the noodles, he saw Jiang Qinyu holding a bowl and scooping a large spoonful from the pot of stewed beef brisket into the noodle bowl.
"Here you go, make another bowl if it's not enough." Jiang Qinyu handed the bowl to Lu Yanzheng.
Lu Yanzheng was stunned for a moment, then burst into a big laugh, took the bowl and looked at Jiang Qinyu, "I knew Madam still cares about me."
"Who cares about you? If you're hungry, eat quickly. I'm going to check on Shufan and Pan'er." Jiang Qinyu glared at him and walked away quickly.
She wasn't concerned about him, but rather the hero who guarded the border town.
Lu Yanzheng laughed like a fool behind him, picked up his chopsticks and started eating noodles.
One bite, and his eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the seemingly ordinary noodles and beef brisket in the bowl. "Beef can actually be made this delicious?"
In that era, due to the scarcity of seasonings, the meat dishes prepared by ordinary people often had a fishy smell and didn't taste very good. Moreover, cattle were livestock that the government strictly prohibited from slaughtering, so the opportunity to eat beef was rare.
Lu Yanzheng had eaten beef before, but the taste was nowhere near as good as Jiang Qinyu's.
Jiang Qinyu had cooked at home before when they were in Dingshui Village, but she didn't cook anything too elaborate so as not to arouse Lu Yanzheng's suspicion.
Now that she doesn't need to be so wary of him anymore, and since what she's making is for herself and her two children, there's no need to hide it.
After dinner, Lu Yanzheng washed the dishes and brushed his teeth before returning to his bedroom.
Jiang Qinyu had already tidied herself up in the space and had just lay down on the bed.
"Qinqin," Lu Yanzheng said, "tomorrow, have someone rent a small courtyard outside, pay half a year's rent, and have Yu Hanyan move there!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Qinyu sat up and looked at him strangely, "Didn't you say she was the woman of your savior and that you wanted to keep her in the manor?"
“That was before,” Lu Yanzheng said with a slightly cold expression. “Now she is becoming increasingly disregard for her status and can no longer stay in the manor.”
Jiang Qinyu thought for a moment, then shook her head and refused, saying, "You should do this yourself. I don't want to be the bad guy."
Although she also felt that Yu Hanyan was becoming more and more annoying, she figured that if she didn't make enemies for herself, she wouldn't make enemies for herself.
“All affairs in the manor are under the Madam’s management, so you naturally have the right and the standing to do this,” Lu Yanzheng explained.
Jiang Qinyu shook her head again, "No, there are some people I can't afford to offend, it's better to stay away from them."
She doesn't have any feelings for Lu Yanzheng yet, and she hasn't done anything to Yu Hanyan, but she already considers her a rival. If she were to ask her to move out of the General's Mansion, wouldn't she hate her to death?
Lu Yanzheng looked at her helplessly, "Alright then, I'll have Uncle Chen handle it."
He just wanted her to see her own feelings, and since she didn't want to, he wouldn't force her.
...
The next morning, Lu Yanzheng gave Chen Bo and the others a few instructions and then hurriedly left.
