Jiang Qinyu transmigrated and suddenly had a son and a daughter. Although they weren't her biological children, it wasn't a big problem.
Most importantly, she didn't have a husban...
He knew that the seeds his aunt had taken out were given by the gods, and that things given by the gods must be good things. Wouldn't good things be kept hidden for one's own use?
Jiang Qinyu patted his head and looked at him with a smile, saying, "What do you think? Can Shufan guess why Auntie did this?"
Shu Fan shook his head. "I can't think of that."
Thinking that he was only six years old, Jiang Qinyu squatted down to look him in the eye and explained earnestly, "Shufan, think about it. If only our family in the whole village grows high-yield seeds, won't we be able to hide it from everyone next year?"
"Hmm." Shu Fan nodded, still not quite understanding.
Jiang Qinyu continued, "When everyone sees that our family has had a bumper harvest, and that we have obtained several times more grain than theirs, what will they do?"
"Will they talk badly about us behind our backs?" Pan'er whispered. "And they'll make sure their kids won't play with us..."
Upon hearing this, Shufan's little face turned serious. "Not only that, they will make us share our food with them. If we don't, they will come and steal it!"
Just like Lu Tianbao's parents, and Wang Pozi's family, they are absolutely capable of doing such a thing.
“Yes,” Jiang Qinyu smiled with relief, patting his little shoulder, “So now you know why your aunt gave away the seeds given by the gods, right?”
"Yes! As long as there are other families in the village like ours, others won't just focus on us!" Shu Fan's eyes became clearer as he looked at Jiang Qinyu with admiration.
Jiang Qinyu didn't say anything more, patted the two of them on the shoulder, "It's time to sleep. You two go wash up quickly. Shufan is going to take a shower by himself today..."
She settled the two children in, then took shampoo and shower gel and placed them in the bathroom, taught Shufan how to use them, and then took Pan'er back to their room.
It's already October, but for some reason, the weather is still scorching hot until midnight.
She has a cellar in her house that Lu Yanzheng dug before. She has cleaned it up these days and laid out a straw mat and a makeshift bed underneath. The three of them, aunt and niece, can sleep in the cellar at night without getting hot at all.
Jiang Qinyu's bedroom is now like a small duplex, with people living on both the upper and lower floors. It's just a question of whether this simple cellar will keep the room warm in winter.
After Shu Fan finished washing up, he felt a little uncomfortable and awkwardly walked past Jiang Qinyu.
Jiang Qinyu teased him, amused, "What's wrong? Are you shy around your aunt?"
"No..." Shufan said, her face flushed, "It's just... it's just that the bath beans Auntie gave me smelled so good, much, much better than the ones Sister Yingchun from the village bought from the county town..."
Jiang Qinyu chuckled upon hearing this, "These aren't bath beans, they're a gift from the gods. You won't notice anything special after using them a lot."
However, Shufan's words reminded her that she needed to hurry to the rouge shop in town and unlock the personal care products section.
She didn't want to use any skincare products, but rather that unlocking the supermarket area would earn her system points. She had just spent two hundred points to buy seeds, and if she didn't replenish them, she felt that her points might become negative at any time, and then she wouldn't be able to buy anything she wanted.
Pan'er was much more accepting of shampoo and body wash. She obediently let Jiang Qinyu help her wash her hair and body, and then washed herself by imitating Jiang Qinyu. Then she told her shyly, "Pan'er will wash herself by herself from now on, so Auntie won't have to work so hard."
Jiang Qinyu's heart melted at her soft, cute voice. She leaned over and gave her a big kiss on her slightly chubby cheek. "Pan'er is so great. If you can take a bath by yourself, you'll be an independent little girl."
The little girl smiled softly and imitated Jiang Qinyu's movements even more earnestly.
After the two of them finished washing up, they smelled wonderful. They went back to the large bed they had laid out in the cellar. Jiang Qinyu played with the two children for a little while longer before starting their bedtime story.
Five hundred years ago, there was a place called Flower and Fruit Mountain. On the mountain was a large rock, which was said to be leftover from when Nuwa mended the sky...
"Auntie, what is Nuwa patching up the sky?" Shu Fan's slightly confused voice came.
Jiang Qinyu choked, realizing that this myth didn't seem to exist in this world. So she explained Nuwa patching up the sky again. Just as she was about to continue the story of Journey to the West, she heard the faint snoring of two children.
"You two are really..."
She chuckled and shook her head, gently kissed both of them on the forehead, turned over and lay down, quickly falling into a deep sleep.
...
Before dawn the next day, Dingshui Village was already bustling with people.
Village Chief Li assigned the task of guarding the crossroads to a dozen or so teenagers in the village, while Chen Shao and Liu Yazi were tasked with making traps and firebreaks.
Early this morning, the whole village gathered under the big locust tree at the village entrance. Village Chief Li didn't say much, but banged on the broken gong a few times and shouted, "Everyone, run three laps around the village first!"
Dingshui Village is neither too big nor too small; three laps around it would definitely exceed three kilometers.
Jiang Qinyu looked at her thin arms and legs and groaned inwardly at the intensity of the challenge right from the start.
But to set a good example for the children, she bent down and said to Shufan and Pan'er, "We'll run behind the aunties and grandmas in the village. If you two can't run anymore, stop and rest, understand?"
"Yes, yes!" The two children nodded in unison.
Jiang Qinyu obediently followed behind Chen and the others, but before she knew it, Liu Ruyi had run up to her side.
"Thank you, Sister-in-law Lu." Liu Ruyi smiled at Jiang Qinyu in her usual approachable manner.
Jiang Qinyu had good hearing and could tell that she wasn't very tired from running, as her breathing wasn't heavy. "No, I wasn't much of a help. You should thank the village chief."
