Transmigrated to a Famine Year: I Madly Hoard Supplies

Spring planting and autumn harvest, daily life. There are no imperial relatives. The space is used for hoarding items and storing things.

Xu Han woke up to find herself transmigrated to an al...

Chapter 49 The Return Journey

Lu Chuan quickly took out his machete and slashed at the bison's body. Once he was sure there was no danger, he beckoned Xu Han over.

Xu Han looked at the bison that had fallen into the trap. This was completely unexpected; it was a freebie, and there were two of them at that.

Overjoyed, he immediately stored the animals in his spatial storage. This time, he hunted a total of 14 bison, 13 large and 1 small.

Each cow weighs about 1,000 jin (500 catties), and after all the cows are slaughtered and processed, there will be about 1 jin (500 catties) of meat left! There will also be a lot of offal left over.

This is fantastic! Enough to eat for a very, very long time.

After burying all the traps, the sun had already set, and the two quickly returned to the cave.

After arriving at the cave, we first boiled water so we could do a quick wash later.

While they ate, the two finished their dinner. As they ate, Xu Han asked, "Are we going back tomorrow?"

“Let’s go back. We’ve been out for five days. Those bison are probably frightened. They shouldn’t come back tomorrow. Let’s give them some time to recover. We’ll come back again before winter.”

"Okay, the space is almost full these past few days. On the way back tomorrow, we'll pick some honeysuckle and wild fruits."

"Okay, it will probably take a day and a half to get home."

"It's alright, let's rest early tonight and set off early tomorrow while it's still not too hot."

After washing up, the two rested, and another day passed.

On the sixth day, just as dawn was breaking, the two got up. Xu Han put everything into her spatial storage, checked to make sure the fire was extinguished, and after everything was tidied up, it was already light.

The two got up and started heading home, eating breakfast as they walked. They stopped and started along the way, finally arriving home the following afternoon.

As soon as I entered the house, I heard the chickens and ducks in the backyard squawking incessantly.

Luckily, there weren't any large animals nearby, otherwise we would have definitely provoked them!

Without even taking a break, Lu Chuan went to the backyard to prepare food for the chickens and ducks, filled the water basin with water, and cleaned the chicken coop after the chickens and ducks had finished eating.

Xu Han then picked up a basket and began picking vegetables. After being away for seven whole days, the vegetables had ripened considerably.

The peppers, tomatoes, and green beans are all ripe and won't get too old, but the cucumbers have gotten quite old. When I have time, I'll slice the old ones and dry them to make cucumber chips.

The honeydew melons and cantaloupes we planted earlier are all ripe and have been harvested. The ground has gotten a bit cracked from being away for the past few days. Lu Chuan will need to water the vegetables after cleaning the chicken coop!

Xu Han spent a long time picking vegetables by herself, and she was overjoyed with her abundant harvest.

The problem now is that the space is almost completely filled with branches and such, and we'll need to take them out and clean them up later tonight.

By the time she finished, it was completely dark. Xu Han went to the kitchen to boil water. She planned to take a nice hot bath later; she hadn't had a proper shower for several days while away from home, and showering wasn't convenient anyway.

Now that I'm home, of course I need to give myself a thorough and thorough wash.

After washing up, the two started eating dinner, which was again prepared in the space. Although the food was hot, it didn't feel freshly made, so it always felt like eating leftovers.

There's no time to cook today, so I must cook early tomorrow. Traditionally, I still feel it's better to cook fresh each day!

It has a down-to-earth feel and is closer to real life. If you eat the food in the space every day, it doesn't feel like you're living a proper life.

After dinner, they took out the prickly pear branches from the space and started picking prickly pears. They picked until about 10:30 p.m., when they were so sleepy that they stopped.

Quickly put the picked vegetables into the space to keep them fresh, and pick the rest slowly when you have time.

The two tidied up and went to bed...

The next morning, Xu Han woke up to find that Lu Chuan was no longer home. After washing up, she went to the kitchen, took out the breakfast from the pot, and began to eat.

Lu Chuan probably went to the trap area. I wonder how things are going there since I haven't been there for the past few days?

After breakfast, I first took the blankets out of the house to air them out. Then I took all the clothes that had accumulated recently to the backyard and started washing and scrubbing them.

Lu Chuan didn't return until lunchtime.

Xu Han, who was hanging clothes to dry, saw Lu Chuan and asked, "You're back. How's the trap situation?"

"There were quite a few dead prey, and they all started to rot in the heat, so I buried them in holes to prevent them from being eaten by other animals."

"It's hot now, so we can't keep the dead things. They might carry bacteria that could be transmitted to other animals if they eat them. Burying them is the best option!"

Lu Chuan walked over and, while helping Xu Han hang up her clothes, asked, "What are we having for lunch today? Is garlic noodles okay again?"

"Sure, it's no trouble at all! You go and dry the dough while I go and knead it!" With that, she turned and went to the kitchen.

After arriving in the kitchen, I first kneaded the dough, and then started making the broth for the garlic noodles...

Another big bowl full. Now Xu Han cooks large portions, and puts the leftovers in her storage space so she can eat them when she's too busy to cook.

After lunch, she rested for a while as usual. After waking up, Xu Han put the wild buffalo on the stone slab in the backyard.

Lu Chuan then began processing the cattle. The cattle were put in directly after they died, and they were still warm when they were taken out.

First, take out a large basin, put some water and salt in it, then slaughter the cow and put the cow's blood directly into the basin. After everything is done, make the cow's blood soup.

Only begin processing the cow after all the blood has drained out.

First, peel off the cowhide, then cut off the cow's head and hooves and set them aside. You can deal with them slowly when you have time.

Take out the cow's heart and lungs and set them aside. Put the cow's stomach and intestines aside as well. After you've finished everything, take them to the wasteland to release the waste, and then take them to the river to wash them.

Remove the bones and set them aside, then group the beef together according to the different cuts. Once all the bones are processed, proceed with the same method for the next bison.

It took the two of them an entire afternoon to process just three cows. The cows were simply too big, with so many parts; they hadn't even processed the stomach and intestines yet!

They'd deal with it all at the last minute. By the time everything was done, it was already dark. Xu Han went to the kitchen and started making dinner.

Lu Chuan continued picking wild raspberries. Even if she didn't like picking them, she had to learn slowly; it would take Xu Han a long time if she did it all by herself!

In order not to pile all the work on Xu Han, Lu Chuan offered to help.

For dinner, Xu Han made a stir-fried beef dish, a cold green bean salad, rice porridge, and steamed buns.

After dinner, Lu Chuan went to wash the dishes and boil water for the bath, while Xu Han took over from Lu Chuan to continue picking thorns.

They worked like this for four days in a row. On the fifth day, there was still one cow left. After the cow was all out, there was only the offal left to be processed.
