Transmigrated to a Famine Year: I Madly Hoard Supplies

Spring planting and autumn harvest, daily life. There are no imperial relatives. The space is used for hoarding items and storing things.

Xu Han woke up to find herself transmigrated to an al...

Chapter 50 Processing Offal

All the beef had been processed before lunch. After lunch and a rest, the two began to prepare the offal.

First, take the tripe and intestines to the wasteland. Lu Chuan poured out all the poop from the tripe and intestines, which smelled terrible. Xu Han stayed far away from them.

Since there were simply too many, Lu Chuan was tasked with cleaning the tripe and intestines himself, while Xu Han went home to continue picking honeysuckle.

After so many days of hard work, all the thorns have been picked, but there are still a lot of honeysuckle flowers in the space that haven't been processed yet!

Xu Han took out a winnowing basket, then brought out sheets of honeysuckle from inside the house, and sat down in a shady spot to begin picking them. Honeysuckle is particularly difficult to pick, as it is very small and light.

Xu Han didn't pick many in one afternoon. She kept picking until sunset, but Lu Chuan still hadn't returned.

So Xu Han decided to go to the stream to take a look. When she arrived at the stream, she saw that Lu Chuan had already cleaned up the beef intestines and tripe. Almost all of them were cleaned up, except for one or two in her hand that had not yet been processed.

Xu Han put the cleaned beef tripe and intestines into her spatial dimension. These cannot be eaten directly; they need to be processed again before consumption!

Xu Han also wanted to help deal with it, but Lu Chuan refused.

"It's almost finished, so don't get your hands involved, or they'll smell awful!"

Xu Han didn't refuse and simply stood aside watching Lu Chuan handle the situation.

After everything was taken care of and all the items were stored in their spatial storage, the two of them went home.

When he got home, Lu Chuan took out soap and started washing his hands repeatedly, but no matter how he washed them, his hands still smelled like feces.

Xu Han mocked him without any politeness, but Lu Chuan was not annoyed and simply put his hand under Xu Han's nose so that she could smell it too.

The two of them bickered for a long time, chasing and hiding from each other. They didn't start cooking until it was almost dark.

It's been a long time since I've had beef noodles, so let's have a simple beef noodle dish tonight!

First, knead the dough and let it rest for a while. Then, take out the beef, cut it into thin strips, and stir-fry it with scallions and ginger.

Xu Han filled the pot with water again and started rolling out the noodles. Once the water boiled, she added the noodles and cooked them a little longer—the longer they cooked, the tastier they would be!

After eating, the two sat in the yard chatting and picking honeysuckle, while burning the mosquito coils they had made a while ago. And you know what? They were quite effective!

Finally, I'm free from mosquito bites! Looks like I'll have to go cut more mugwort to make mosquito coils sometime; there will be many more places that need them later!

Moreover, the current mosquito coils don't burn for very long, so we must make more than we need.

The next day, early in the morning, Xu Han took out the honeysuckle she had picked the day before and put it out to dry.

When drying honeysuckle, it's best to do so on a sunny day. It can be dried in just one day, and the honeysuckle won't turn dark in color.

After drying the honeysuckle, Xu Han went to the vegetable garden to pick, tidy up, and water it, busying herself until Lu Chuan returned at noon.

Today we have another daunting task: dealing with the cow's head and hooves, both of which are particularly difficult to handle.

If you handle it properly, it will taste delicious; if you don't handle it properly, it will be a real headache!

First, boil a large pot of water and then blanch the cow's hooves and head. The method is similar to that for sheep's hooves and heads, but cow's hooves and heads are more difficult to process.

It wasn't until evening that the two of them had finished half of it; it was still a work in progress.

Xu Han was so frustrated she wanted to curse, but Lu Chuan patiently worked on it slowly.

That evening, Xu Han said, "This is too difficult to handle. Let's not deal with it tomorrow. Let's put it in our space for now and deal with it slowly when we have time later!"

Hearing Xu Han say that, Lu Chuan quickly nodded in agreement, "Okay, let's leave it for now! We'll deal with it when we have some free time."

After all, Lu Chuan's eyes were seeing stars, and he was getting old and blurry-eyed. He felt like vomiting just looking at it.

After they reached an agreement, they ate dinner and then rested.

The next day, Lu Chuan continued hunting, while Xu Han stayed at home. Lu Chuan hadn't processed the game he had recently hunted; he had simply put it directly into his spatial storage.

Xu Han took out the fish she had caught during this time from her spatial storage and began to process them.

First, scrape off the fish scales and cut off the fins. Then, gut the fish and remove the entrails.

We don't need the fish offal; Xu Han doesn't know how to cook it, and it wouldn't taste good! Just keep the fish body.

After processing, I put the fish in a basin and moved on to the next one. I spent the whole day processing fish.

They need to be washed clean and put in a bucket. We don't have enough buckets at home, so I have to put the cleaned fish in plastic garbage bags in the storage space. We'll take them out to dry in the sun when it's not so hot in the fall.

Every day that followed was the same.

The pheasant was processed the next day.

The third day was spent tidying up the vegetable garden.

Make mosquito coils on the fourth day.

On the fifth day, we continued picking mugwort leaves.

Pick honeysuckle on the sixth day.

On the seventh day, we went out to pick wild vegetables.

It's the eighth day, time to tidy up the vegetable garden again.

And so, every day was busy, with endless things to do, and the days passed by one by one.

July arrived in the blink of an eye. Autumn had begun, and recently Lu Chuan had been hunting a lot of prey almost every day.

Then the next day, they would go to the county town to sell the game they didn't like to eat, and they would always bring back some fruit when they went to the county town.

Because Xu Han loves to eat, she has brought back many baskets of peaches, watermelons, cantaloupes, and other seasonal fruits over this period of time.

In addition to the vegetables and fruits we picked at home, the entire space is now full of fresh vegetables and fruits.

There's almost no room left. It's not going to work. The space is still too small. What should we do if we run out of space?

These things are not enough to last that long; Xu Han needs to prepare at least four years' worth of fresh fruits and vegetables.

We can only grow our own vegetables after the drought, snowstorms, and floods have passed.

So Xu Han decided to clean out the bedroom as well. She removed all the beds, tables, chairs, wardrobes, and other items that didn't need to be kept fresh.

For now, put them in Mr. and Mrs. Lu's room. This instantly freed up a lot of space. Some of the potatoes we harvested earlier also need to be put into the space.

Otherwise they'll all sprout. We should set aside some to plant later after we harvest the corn and soybeans. We can save them to eat slowly!

Take some flour out of the storage space and put it in the cellar outside. When it gets colder in a while, you can take the meat out to marinate, dry, and preserve it.

Then we'll have plenty of space to store vegetables and such!

The pumpkins and winter melons outside are growing very well right now, so Xu Han came outside intending to pick some pumpkin vines to stir-fry and taste.

Arriving at the wasteland, seeing the ground almost completely covered with flowers, I was filled with joy. The ground was covered with golden pumpkin and winter melon flowers, which meant there would surely be another bumper harvest.
