Facing a family ful...

Chapter 389 The appeal for justice is finally coming to an end.

Upon hearing this, the Emperor was already furious. He pointed at the kneeling Prime Minister and rebuked him, "Wang Mingzhi, is this really true?"

Prime Minister Wang was already so frightened that he was completely disoriented. He cowered on the ground, too weak to even speak.

He Shunsu cupped his hands in a respectful gesture to the Emperor and said, "If Your Majesty does not believe me, you may come with me to the Prefect's residence."

The Emperor nodded and pointed at Jiang Ling, saying, "Get up and come with me!"

Jiang Ling nodded and slowly stood up, but her head remained droopy.

"You! Kneel here and reflect on your mistakes! I'll deal with you when I return!" The Emperor shouted, pointing at Wang Mingzhi kneeling on the ground.

He Shunsu led the emperor and his entourage onto the carriage, while Jiang Ling and Xiao Hai sat outside.

"Your Majesty, please change into these clothes first!" He Shunsu placed a set of his servant's clothes in front of the Emperor and continued to explain, "If Your Majesty wears the dragon robe, people will naturally fear and dread you. If you change your clothes, you will surely understand many things more clearly!"

The emperor was about to get angry, but after hearing what He Shunsu said next, his anger subsided considerably. He forced himself to change into He Shunsu's servant's clothes despite feeling nauseous.

The carriage soon arrived at the prefectural magistrate's office.

He Shunsu led the emperor out of the carriage, with Xiao Hai and Jiang Ling following behind.

The prefect carefully led He Shunsu toward the prison.

"Third Prince, that Boss Huang keeps yelling every day, and even several of my constables have been injured!" The prefect explained helplessly, scratching his head.

"Oh? You injured a yamen runner? What was the reason for that?" He Shunsu glanced at the emperor, who was dressed as a servant, and continued to ask.

The prefect continued to explain, "He insisted on eating roast chicken and drinking strong liquor, and he also wanted us to go to Tianxiang Tower to fetch the courtesan Ruoshui. We yamen runners have our own things to do, but we were just a little slow, and we were scolded and berated!"

The emperor was furious upon hearing this, his hands clenching so tightly they cracked, but he knew this was not the time for him to vent his anger.

"Oh? But you are the Prefect, after all. Isn't it a bit much to just turn a blind eye and let things slide?" He Shunsu glanced at the Emperor, who was already pale with anger, and continued to guide the Prefect's next words.

The prefect shook his head and sighed, "Alas, who doesn't know the power behind Huang Pian? Although I am the prefect, how could I possibly contend with the prime minister! As you know, Third Prince, if Huang Pian goes out and whispers something in his sister's ear, and if his sister whispers in the prime minister's ear, I'm afraid my position as prefect will be over!"

"This is outrageous!" The Emperor finally lost his temper and roared.

The prefect turned around and, upon seeing the emperor dressed as a servant, immediately knelt on the ground.

He bowed, trembling, his mind racing, wondering if the Emperor would behead him for what he had just said.

"Is everything you said true?" A ruthless gaze pierced the prefect.

The prefect felt a sudden shock, followed by a weight as heavy as a mountain pressing down on him.

"Greetings, Your Majesty! Long live the Emperor! Long live the Emperor!"

"I'm asking you a question, there's no need for these formalities now!" The Emperor forcefully interrupted the Prefect.

The prefect's forehead and back were instantly covered in cold sweat. He knelt on the ground, trembling violently, and even his voice began to tremble.

"Your Majesty... what I said... is all true..."

Before the prefect could finish speaking, the emperor turned to He Shunsu and said, "Where is the dungeon? Take me there immediately!"

He Shunsu glanced at the prefect kneeling on the ground, smiled helplessly to himself, and thought, "Hey, old man, I have to thank you for adding fuel to the fire this time, but I don't have time to deal with you right now!"

Thinking of this, He Shunsu still pointed to a corner with a serious expression and said, "Your Majesty, it's right there!"

The Emperor was so angry that his scalp tingled. He strode toward the dungeon, with He Shunsu, Xiao Hai, and Jiang Ling following closely behind.

"Crack!" The sound of a plate shattering came from the dungeon.

"Damn it, where's my Eight Treasure Fat Duck? Where's my Bamboo Leaf Green Tea? Why haven't you brought it to me yet? Are you trying to starve me to death? Wait till I get out of here! I'll see how I deal with you guys!" Huang Pian's cursing voice followed one after another.

Upon hearing this arrogant tone, the Emperor's anger reached its peak.

Upon hearing the shout, two constables hurriedly ran over. When they saw that the person was the Third Prince He Shunsu, they quickly greeted him and jogged towards Huang Pian's direction.

"Brother Huang, please be patient. It's lunchtime, and the restaurants might be crowded. Please wait patiently!" the constable said patiently.

Huang Pian, however, was not buying it. He threw another wine jug outside and launched into another tirade of curses at the yamen runners!

The constable looked aggrieved, wanting to lash out but not daring to, and could only repeatedly apologize.

"Drag Huang Pian out here! Make him kneel down!" The Emperor had already entered the dungeon, and he was furious at the sight of the obsequious yamen runners.

Upon hearing this, Huang Pian immediately perked up. He put his hands on his hips, raised his head, and roared at the Emperor with an extremely defiant look on his face: "You old codger, who do you think you are? You dare to make your grandfather kneel down to you? Aren't you afraid of dying young?!"

Jiang Ling was secretly delighted by Huang Pian's provocation. Huang Pian was like a grasshopper in autumn, not going to be able to jump around for much longer.

The more arrogant he is now, the less he'll have to complain to later.

The yamen runners didn't realize who was speaking until the prefect outside the door stumbled in, his face pale and covered in sweat.

The Emperor's identity was only revealed when everyone knelt down, except for Huang Pian. This was not because Huang Pian was still shouting, but because Huang Pian was now terrified.
