When Lin Yinan opened her eyes, she had become a fifteen-year-old girl in ancient times. Before she could even react, she encountered a barbarian invasion and a massacre.
Her mother was strug...
Yun Yi was in charge of counting the number of people to confirm that everyone who came in had been killed.
Yunye then led his men to inventory the supplies brought by the Yu family. There were over thirty mule carts, thirty of which carried grain, while the others carried meat and vegetables.
"The Yu family is really generous," Yun Yi said, leaning closer to take a look.
The meat was very fresh, and it was all cured with salt, which helps it last longer.
Yunye frowned as he looked at the pile of corpses and asked, "Are there any survivors?"
"I don't think so. We saw them come in with our own eyes," Yun Yi said.
"Alright, carry it to the back hill and bury it."
Yun Yi directed his guards to clear out a mule cart, load the body onto the cart, and then transport it to the back mountain where they dug a pit and buried it.
In a spacious grove of trees on the back mountain, more than a dozen guards were digging a pit with shovels, while Yun Yi and five other guards patrolled the area vigilantly.
Behind a huge thicket of thorns in the distance, a soldier lay prone on the ground, watching everything with bloodshot eyes.
He was also a member of the team. Captain Cai was his older brother. With the New Year approaching, he wanted to come out and see the world with his brother.
When he was almost at the mine gate, he suddenly had a stomachache. He told his brother and went into the woods to take care of it.
But when he came out to relieve himself, he found the door closed.
The door was locked from the inside, and he couldn't open it no matter how hard he tried.
So he circled the wall, trying to find a lower spot to climb over, when he heard screams and his brother's questioning voice coming from inside.
After a long while, there was no more movement inside. Realizing that it was not a good place to stay, he decided to turn back the way he came.
Just as they hid in this thicket of thorns, they saw people inside using a mule cart to bring the bodies of his brother and his men to bury them.
He trembled and lay motionless on the ground. The sea breeze, carrying a strong smell of blood, made his face pale and made him want to vomit, but he managed to hold it in.
Seeing that they had been laughing and joking with him when they arrived, and now turned into cold corpses, his eyes were bloodshot with rage.
When he saw the guards carrying a corpse that had been cut in half at the waist, with its intestines and internal organs hanging from its body, he wanted to get up and rush out to fight them to the death and avenge his brother.
Just as he took a step, his body was grabbed tightly and his mouth was covered. He struggled desperately.
After struggling for a while but unable to break free from the man's grip, the soldier gave up completely. He could do whatever he wanted with him, as long as he could reunite with his brother.
Seeing that he was no longer struggling, they dragged him deeper into the forest.
Yun Yi was highly skilled in martial arts. Hearing the commotion, he quickly rushed over with his sword.
He looked around the huge thicket of thorns and suddenly spotted something furry in a hole in the ground. He flicked it with his sword, and a plump rabbit was pierced through, its limbs still kicking.
"Boss, what did you find?" The other guards followed one after another.
Yun Yi held up the rabbit skewered on his sword. "A rabbit."
"Boss, you're really lucky." The guards didn't hold back in flattering him.
Yun tossed the rabbit to the guard, but still worried, he continued to carefully examine the thicket of thorns.
There were some signs of the grass lying flat, but it was too recent to tell whether the damage was caused by an animal or a person.
"Let's take a good look around here." Yun Yi was always meticulous in his work despite his seemingly rough exterior.
The guards searched the surrounding area thoroughly but found nothing, so they felt relieved and began to return.
After dealing with the corpses and returning, Yunyi and the others discovered that several more mule carts had appeared at the mine, with pigs tied to them squealing loudly.
"Boss, is the master here?" the guard asked expectantly.
Yun Yi's cold face relaxed. "Let's go back."
As they approached the gate, they heard Yun Ming's voice; the guards were recounting the two battles that had just ended.
"If we had come a little earlier, we would have made it in time." His tone was full of regret.
The steward beside him glanced at him sideways, his lips twitching. He was truly a young calf unafraid of tigers; it was the first time he had ever seen someone so eager to kill someone.
Yunming asked excitedly, "Aren't the Japanese supposed to be very short? I want to see just how short they really are over there."
"They're mining in the mountains," the guard said, pointing towards the mine.
"Quick, take me to see it," Yun Ming said.
The guard gestured to the meek Steward Ma beside him, "Steward Ma speaks Japanese, let him take you there."
Steward Ma cursed the guards' ancestors for eighteen generations in his heart. "You brat, if you want to please the young master, why use him as a scapegoat?"
He's old and frail, yet he still has to climb up and down.
Nevertheless, Steward Ma still smiled and said, "Young Master, please follow me."
Manager Ma led Yunming to a workshop halfway up the mountain, where the Japanese pirates who worked were all unruly and had their legs broken.
When the Japanese pirates saw Manager Ma approaching with a child, their eyes flashed with ferocity. They tried to move forward, but their feet couldn't walk on the gravel, and they mumbled incomprehensible words.
Seeing this, Yun Ming knew they probably weren't saying anything nice. "Manager Ma, are they insulting me?"
Manager Ma nodded.
What were they saying?
"Anyway, the insults were pretty nasty," Manager Ma said somewhat sheepishly.
Yun Ming immediately frowned and glared at Steward Ma, "Tell me, what were they cursing about?"
Manager Ma had no choice but to tell him the exact words the Japanese pirates used to curse them.
Upon hearing this, Yun Ming flew into a rage and rushed forward to give them a brutal beating. Steward Ma and the guards watching over them hurriedly tried to stop him.
"Young Master, don't kill them. We still need them to work," the guard advised.
"Pah! You damned stray dogs!" Yun Ming spat, then swaggered away with Steward Ma.
