When Lin Yinan opened her eyes, she had become a fifteen-year-old girl in ancient times. Before she could even react, she encountered a barbarian invasion and a massacre.
Her mother was strug...
The village chief blushed red after being rebuked by him; Yun Er's attitude represented the attitude of the Yun family.
The villagers of Linjia Village were so scolded that they didn't dare to utter a sound.
Finally, the clan chief spoke up, saying that each family should send one person, and they would take turns every two hours.
Everyone was intimidated by his forceful demeanor and dared not raise any further objections.
Lin Yinan yawned, went back to sleep, and couldn't be bothered to listen to their chatter.
These people always think that by associating with the Yun family, they have a powerful backer and someone to bail them out. They are truly courting death and deserve to be taught a lesson.
The morning mist was thick, and unknown birds chirped incessantly on the branches, while the sunlight gilded the earth with a golden glow.
Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the tent, falling on Lin Yinan's face.
She raised her arm to shield her eyes. More and more birds joined in the chirping from the trees outside. Lin Yinan turned over in annoyance, her head filled with their incessant chirping.
She pulled back the covers and sat up, then covered the still-sleeping Lin Yichun, Lin Yi'an, and Lu Changqing with the covers.
After putting on her clothes, Lin Yinan grabbed her bow and arrows, lifted the curtain, and went outside.
Everyone else had already woken up, and Old Mrs. Zhao and Li Shulan were cooking breakfast around the fire.
"Anan, breakfast is almost ready. Where are you taking your bow and arrows so early in the morning?"
Lin Yinan left without looking back, saying, "Let's go practice in the back."
The temperature rose very quickly, and the branches were full of spring, covered with flocks of birds.
They sang back and forth, singing merrily.
Lin Yinan drew his bow and nocked an arrow, shooting one arrow at a time, sometimes two arrows strung together with a single arrow.
After the bird had emptied its quiver of arrows, it finally sensed something was wrong and flapped its wings and flew away.
"Damn it, don't you dare leave!" Lin Yinan cursed.
These birds are as big as the palm of your hand, and I counted nearly twenty of them, enough to make a pot of porridge for everyone.
Strange, she clearly remembered there were twenty-one arrows, so why couldn't she find the last one?
Lin Yinan was searching through the jungle when she suddenly looked up and saw Yun Mo standing silently behind her, holding an arrow with a bird's head stuck in it.
Without saying a word, she picked up the string of birds and turned to leave.
"Miss Lin, your archery skills are truly superb!" Yun Mo said, his voice low and cold.
Lin Yinan simply turned around, walked up to him, stretched out her hand, lifted her eyelids, and looked down at him disdainfully.
Her slightly upturned lips exuded a chilling indifference, as if she could see right through him.
Yun Mo gently placed the arrow in her hand and asked with a puzzled look, "Have I offended you in some way, young lady? Is that why you have some misunderstanding about me?"
"Misunderstanding?" Lin Yinan forcefully pulled the arrow out of the bird's head and snorted coldly, "You know perfectly well what you've done, why pretend with me here?"
Since he doesn't admit it, there's no need for her to get entangled with him.
Emerging from the woods, Lin Yinan saw the brothers Lin Fu and Lin Yizhang leading horses and cattle, grazing in the lush green forest.
The lively and energetic Lin Yibo ran towards her, "Big sister, what did you hunt this time?"
In Lin Yibo's eyes, his eldest sister was even more capable than his father and three brothers, and she could always hunt wild animals when she went into the forest.
Lin Yinan handed him the bird in her hand.
"You've shot a few birds. Take them back and have Chika cook them."
Yun Mo walked by from a distance, watching her laughing and chatting with her family, and felt even more depressed.
When Yun Er and Yun Qi returned from scouting, Yun Er noticed something amiss in his face at a glance.
"What's wrong? Miss Lin didn't give you a friendly look again?"
"I really can't figure out when I did anything to upset her."
Yun Er carefully observed his expression and, finding it genuine, placed his hand on his shoulder and spoke in the tone of a caring older brother, "I think you've definitely overlooked some details. Think carefully about when Miss Lin started to dislike you; something must have happened in between."
Upon hearing this, Yun Mo frowned slightly. He looked up and saw the hand that had been placed on his shoulder. He shook it off, realizing he had almost forgotten about the important matter because of the man's sway.
He coughed lightly to conceal his emotions, "What did you two find out when you went out?"
The gossipy flame on Yun Er's face instantly died down. He put away his smile and said with a serious expression, "It's only a two-hour walk from here to the main road, which is full of refugees fleeing from disaster."
Yun Mo's gaze darkened. "Where did they come from?"
Yun Qi took out a map from his pocket, opened it, and pointed to several corresponding points on it, saying, "This official road is the only way for the capital and various prefectures to go south."
"You two go and tell the people of Linjia Village that we will set off in half an hour. We'll be on the main road, so let's speed up our journey."
When Lin Yinan helped lead the horse back, Qianwu had already cleaned up the birds.
“Young lady, the Yun family has informed us that we will be setting off in half an hour. The old lady said to marinate it with salt first and then cook it tonight.”
As Lin Yinan harnessed the horse to the cart, she said, "Alright, you can arrange it as you see fit."
She assured everyone that they wouldn't go hungry. Lin Shuo and Lin Yiheng were taking down the tents, and the children were helping to load things onto the carriage. They were just waiting to put away the bowls after the meal before setting off.
The mountain path, now covered in melting snow, was difficult to traverse. The five hundred guards of the Yun family led the way, and after they passed, the path became muddy and impassable.
The guards protected the women of the Yun family in the middle, and the Lin Yinan family followed closely behind them.
They were the family with the most horses besides the Yun family, followed by the Lin Yizhuang family and the Su Yunzhi family.
After walking for more than two hours, they could vaguely see refugees walking on the official road.
Yunye ordered the troops to stop in a flat field and eat before continuing on the official road.
The refugees looked at the huge procession that had stopped in the fields, feeling both envy and fear.
