Mu Jin, the legitimate daughter of a military family, is a woman who is disdained by her husband and driven out of the house. When she returns, she learns that her husband has taken a new lover. On...
Seeing Nangong Min's happy expression, Mu Jin couldn't help but smile along with him. However, when he looked up and saw the scar on Nangong Min's forehead, he was taken aback.
Mu Jin frowned and walked over, wanting to see the scar on Nangong Min's forehead, but Nangong Min shyly avoided her.
Mu Jin seemed to be thinking something and said, "Your injury was there last night? Is that why you wouldn't let me light a lamp?"
Nangong Min looked at Mu Jin somewhat awkwardly.
"It's alright, Jin. I was in a hurry yesterday and bumped into the door frame without noticing."
Mu Jin's eyes were filled with disbelief. The wound on Nangong Min's forehead was clearly caused by some broken, sharp object.
She took Nangong Min's hand and led him into the room, carefully applying medicine to the wound on his forehead.
Nangong Min looked at Mu Jin gently.
"Don't worry, Ah Jin. This injury is nothing serious for me. It will heal quickly even without any medicine."
"I was worried that you would see the wound on my forehead and worry about me, so I thought I would come to see you tonight. But I missed you so much that I couldn't help but come to see you."
Mu Jin guessed that Nangong Min's injury was probably caused by him begging Nangong Yun for something yesterday.
As for what he was begging for, it's not hard to guess. It was probably that Nangong Yun wanted Nangong Min to inherit the position of sect leader and marry Bai Ling'er together. Nangong Min refused, so he kowtowed to Nangong Yun and begged for the scars that appeared on his face.
Looking at Nangong Min, whose eyes were full of her, Mu Jin couldn't bear to expose him and simply said to him, "Silly boy."
The two spent the whole day in the courtyard, quietly embracing each other and chatting idly.
Nangong Min was unusually talkative today; he spoke more in one day than he did in a whole year at the General's Mansion.
He seemed to have endless things to say to Mu Jin. As long as Mu Jin stayed in his arms and listened quietly to him, he felt incredibly happy and content.
Time passed quietly, and it wasn't until dinner time that Nangong Min had to reluctantly part ways with Mu Jin, because he had to go find Bai Ling'er and go together to Nangong Yundi's bedroom to plead for mercy.
That day, Nangong Min didn't come to see Mu Jin until she fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, Mu Jin woke up with a start. She looked at the foot of the bed as usual, but Nangong Min was not sitting there as he had been the night before.
Mu Jin felt uneasy, but she couldn't find the reason.
Left with no other choice, she could only close her eyes tightly, try her best to clear her mind, and force herself to fall asleep.
Early in the morning, Mu Jin was awakened by a knock on the door. Mu Jin got up and opened the door, and it was Nangong Yun's servant.
"Miss Mu, the old lady said she would like to invite you to have breakfast together."
Mu Jin was puzzled. For the past two days, Nangong Yun had been leaving her alone in this small courtyard. Did he suddenly remember her today?
Although Mu Jin thought this in her heart, she did not show it on her face. After all, she was Nangong Min's grandmother, someone she needed to respect.
Mu Jin said to the servant, "Please wait a moment while I change my clothes. I will then go with you to see the old lady."
Mu Jin changed into a simple and elegant outfit and followed Nangong Yun's attendant out the door.
In the dining hall of Yufutang, Nangong Yun was kindly placing a piece of pastry on Mu Jin's plate.
"Miss Mu, I have been unwell these past two days and have not yet properly thanked you for saving Min'er. I am truly sorry."
Mu Jin said humbly, "Madam, there's no need for such politeness."
Nangong Yun smiled slightly upon hearing this.
“Miss Mu, to be honest, I have two reasons for wanting to thank you in person for saving Min’er’s life. I also have a favor to ask of you.”
Mu Jin put down her bowl and chopsticks: "Madam, you are being too kind to me. Please feel free to say whatever you wish."
Nangong Min smiled and said, "I know that you and Min'er are in love, and I really shouldn't be telling you this, but as a member of the Nangong family, I have to say it."
“Miss Mu, Min’er should have told you about the uses of the bloodline in his body.”
Mu Jin nodded.
"This matter has been unknown to outsiders for hundreds of years. Even within the Nangong Divine Sect, only the successor of the sect leader can know about it. This is a secret of our Nangong Divine Sect."
“I told Min about this secret the night before he was to inherit the position of sect leader, and that’s when he learned about it.”
“Min knew that this matter concerned the life and death of our Nangong Shenzong, but he still chose to tell you. This shows how important you are to him.”
"However, even so, I must first apologize to you. Min'er can never be with you."
Before Mu Jin arrived, she had already anticipated that Nangong Min would likely advise her to break up with him, so she wasn't surprised to hear Nangong Yun say that.
“Madam, I’m afraid I can’t listen to you on this matter. Min has not only been kind to me, but also done me a great favor. I respect Min’s thoughts, and if he is determined to stay with me, then I absolutely cannot leave him.”
Nangong Yun was not surprised by Mu Jin's answer.
“Miss Mu, to be honest, you know the secrets of our Nangong Divine Sect, so we shouldn’t spare your life. But Min trusts you, and I trust the Mu family. They are upright and honest people, not the kind of treacherous villains. So I won’t kill you for that reason.”
"Not only will I not kill you, but I will also tell you another secret of the Nangong Divine Sect today. That is, the successor of our Nangong Divine Sect must unite with Miao Gong Lingzi and Lingnu. Only the bloodline born can be used as medicine and can save the world in critical moments."
Upon hearing Nangong Yun's words, Mu Jin was completely stunned, as if she had been electrocuted.
She had always believed that Nangong Yun and Nangong Min's insistence on a marriage alliance with the Miao family was merely a ploy to create a powerful alliance between the two families. She never imagined that the marriage alliance was intended to produce a new "medicine human."
