Chapter 91 Gap

Tao Ran led Wan Qiqi through the long corridor and across the school.

The pleasant sound of reading aloud drifted through the half-open window, echoing throughout the courtyard.

During this time, Wan Qiqi had grown accustomed to the nagging of the village women, and now, hearing the sound of reading aloud, she felt a sense of excitement, and even a touch of envy.

Compared to her, there was a more envious gaze, almost as if she were longing for him.

Upon seeing this, Wan Qiqi sighed inwardly.

Modern people are tired of reading, yet people in this era envy reading, want to read, but cannot read.

Chen Yongliang was so engrossed in watching that he didn't even notice the two extra people beside him.

Tao Jing saw Tao Ran and was about to call out to him.

"Shh!" Tao Ran made a shushing gesture and slowly shook his head.

Even so, Wan Qiqi saw Tao Jing's expression as she asked Tao Ran for praise, and Tao Ran looked at her with doting eyes.

Before she transmigrated, she was an only child. After transmigrating, although she had an older brother, it was impossible for them to reconcile.

Looking at the scene before her, she felt envious, but she also understood why Tao Jing was so shameless.

After the student's voice faded, a clear voice entered my ears.

Wan Qiqi looked in the direction of the sound.

Wan Ziyan stood in the schoolroom, dressed in a blue robe. His long, slender, fair fingers held a book, and his thin lips parted slightly as he uttered clean words.

He was gentle and refined, and his demeanor was graceful and generous, perfectly embodying the title of "sir".

Wan Qiqi was stunned for a moment, as if she couldn't remember what he looked like when she first saw him, only the image of him teaching and imparting knowledge in the school remained.

After a while, Tao Ran said in a low voice, "Go to the backyard to rest first. After this class, I'll treat you to dinner at the restaurant."

Chen Yongliang praised Wan Ziyan all the way, and even expressed his heartfelt wish that he could become Wan Ziyan's student.

Tao Jing glanced at him and said, "The academy only admits students aged six to fifteen. You should be fifteen by now, right?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Yongliang lowered his head in disappointment.

He knew he was past the age for enrollment, and his family couldn't afford to send him to school.

But can't I even just think about it?

"A-Jing!" Tao Ran called out to Tao Jing with a hint of reproach.

Tao Jing pouted, then patted Chen Yongliang's shoulder. "Alright, I didn't mean to say that to you!" Seeing that Chen Yongliang was in a bad mood, she continued, "At worst, next time you come to deliver that sauce, I'll teach you a word, how about that?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Yongliang finally looked up, staring at her curiously, as if trying to confirm whether what she said was true.

Tao Ran gently scolded, "A-Jing, you don't do your homework properly, yet you teach others?" As she spoke, she gave Tao Jing a light tap on the forehead with a smile.

Tao Jing touched her forehead where she had been hit, and pouted. "Well, I know more characters than him!" she said confidently. "Teaching him is more than enough for me."

Chen Yongliang didn't hear anything else, but he was overjoyed to hear Tao Jing say that she would teach him to read.

After a while, he brought up his own idea, "Then can you count for me again? I... I can buy you candied hawthorns."

"Great!" Tao Jing exclaimed proudly. She had students now! And she even got to eat candied hawthorns.

The two children, who were about the same age, immediately became friends, said they would start right away, and ran off.

Tao Ran sighed softly.

My younger sister doesn't know many characters, but she can certainly teach Chen Yongliang. However, arithmetic has always been a headache for her; she probably can't even calculate as clearly as Chen Yongliang.

Looking at him, Wan Qiqi felt that he was more like a teenager, full of energy.

"Clang~ Clang~ Clang~"

As the sound rang out, a group of teenagers poured out of the school.

The younger children ran away, while the older, more composed ones gathered in small groups, laughing and chatting.

Wan Qiqi seemed to see a scene from the past, when she and her good classmates left the classroom together after class.

"I just saw honey pomelo soup in the cafeteria! Hurry up, or it'll be gone!"

As a student shouted, more and more people rushed into the cafeteria.

Upon hearing this, Tao Ran's face darkened.

The person who shouted loudly immediately changed his expression when he saw Tao Ran, and obediently greeted, "Hello, Headmaster Tao."

Headmaster?

Wan Qiqi looked at Tao Ran in confusion, only to realize that she might have called him by the wrong name.

I always think of calling the academy's headmaster, but I forgot that this is ancient times, and the way it's called is definitely a little different.

But since the other party didn't correct it, there must be others shouting the same thing.

A young man in a blue robe came with the crowd, his steps light and a smile on his lips.

Upon seeing the person beside Tao Ran, he paused for a moment before strolling over and calling out gently, "Miss Wan."

Then, he looked at Tao Ran, his eyes seeming to question her: What is she doing here?

Tao Ran smiled faintly, "Ziyan, I'd like Miss Wan to come with us to the restaurant. You don't mind, do you?"

Wan Qiqi thought to herself, "How could he be so manipulative?"

She felt that whenever the two of them were together, they lost their scholarly demeanor and became more like two spoiled rich kids.

"What can I do?" Wan Ziyan smiled. "I wasn't the one who paid for the meal, so I have nothing to say!" He said, and started walking out.

"Ziyan, when did you become so focused on money?" Tao Ran followed along.

Wan Ziyan paused, turned his head to look at Tao Ran, and said, "Just consider it as me being greedy for money!" With that, he tapped Tao Ran twice with the book in his hand.

Wan Qiqi felt that their interaction was very comfortable, which made her feel much better.

Fifteen minutes later, the five arrived at the best restaurant in Hefeng Town.
