There were not many customers, so the chef had nothing to do after cooking.

Yilu asked the chef to sit with him and chat with him, gossiping about his experience as a new immigrant.

Since there were other people cleaning up in the kitchen, he didn't hesitate and sat down to chat.

The chef's name is Liu Xiang, and he has been here for almost a month.

"This place just opened, so there are very few people here before the weekend," said Liu Xiang. "Most people here go back to Jincheng on weekends, or come here to play."

"Why did Uncle Liu think of coming here to work?" Yilu started to ask a hundred thousand questions.

"To be honest, my wife passed away early, and my two children are grown up. My son is a soldier here flying airplanes, and he asked me if I wanted to come over."

"So casual?"

"It's not casual at all!" Liu Xiang said, "Jinhao has set up a convenient training program. Most of us here are military families! The training lasted for over half a year!"

"This place is far from home! Don't you miss home?"

"It's far from home, but I'm closer to my son now!" Liu Xiang said with a smile. "My son used to live in the desert, and I only saw him once a year. Now they have a holiday every month, so I can see him more often!"

"What about the New Year?"

"We agreed that my daughter and son-in-law would come to the island for Chinese New Year this year, and next year when we make some money, we'll go to Jincheng and run a restaurant!"

“What are the wages like here?”

"The salary doesn't seem high, about the same as when I ran a restaurant at home," Liu Xiang said. "It's only a few tens of thousands of yuan a month, but we have good benefits, so our living expenses are very low. We also get employee discounts on airfare, so we can save more than before!"

"What about renting a house and household expenses? These don't require expenses?"

"The only bill is for water and electricity. The house is a fully furnished one-bedroom apartment provided by the company, and there's a large balcony with a sea view. It's in great condition!"

"Will you be lonely if you live alone?"

"Lonely? Not really!" Liu Xiang smiled again. "There are quite a lot of military families and elderly people living in our community. We play table tennis, practice Tai Chi, do square dancing, and chat in the activity room. It's so relaxing!"

"You've only been here a month and you've already made friends?"

"I got to know a lot of people during training together, and when we moved here, we were all neighbors in the same apartment complex, so we've known each other for a long time!"

"That's great!"

"Oh! I'm enjoying myself!" Liu Xiang said with a smile. "I'm over 50 this year. I'll work for another seven or eight years. When I retire, I'll rent a small room in the sanatorium here and stay until my son retires! Fifteen years, it will go by quickly!"

"What are your plans after your son retires?"

"I want him to stay and work here, so that I can continue to enjoy the benefits as a family member!" Liu Xiang is really a whimsical person, but this is not impossible, it all depends on his son's wishes!

Liu Xiang works quite long hours here, but he works every other day, so on average he only works three and a half days a week.

When I ran my own restaurant in the past, I had to get up early and go to bed late all year round, so I don’t feel tired now.

After eating and drinking their fill and bidding farewell to Liu Xiang, the group returned to the hotel villa. After a short meeting, they each rested, recuperated, and prepared for tomorrow's trip.

They still acted as a group in the morning. The tour bus caught the bus at 9 o'clock, and they arrived at the breakfast room at 7:30 and had something to eat.

The large glass window of the breakfast room faces the main entrance, so you can see the shuttle bus when it arrives, so there is no need to rush.

Soon, the sightseeing bus arrived.

There is a GPS positioning system on the bus, and every time we arrive at a place, an introduction will be played over the loudspeaker on the bus.

The island is not big and it only takes about three hours to go around it.

The total number of residents here is only a few thousand. Since it is not the weekend, everyone is scattered at their workplaces. The streets are very quiet and there are not many people.

"Where are you going first?" asked the leader.

"How about we go to the mall first?" Zheng Lei rubbed his stomach. "I heard there's a food court there. I'm getting starving!"

"You only know how to eat!" The team leader glared at the disappointing young reporter, but it was already past twelve o'clock, so this was a good idea!

After studying how to use the QR code scanning car in the parking lot, a group of people and two cars headed towards the mall.

"The cars here are actually free! They are even cheaper than the buses in Jincheng!" Zheng Lei discovered a new world again.

And these electric bikes don’t need to be in gear or anything, it seems like even a child can drive them! All they need to know is the traffic rules!

When I got to the mall, I didn't see many people. Everyone was at work or school, so there really weren't many people around at that time of year.

"How do we check out here? There's no one here, and no one pushing carts?" The team leader looked around.

"The app says to scan a robot." Fortunately, there is Zhang Shuqi who has studied the island-traveling app.

"What are you scanning?" the team leader was puzzled.

"Over there!" Zhang Shuqi looked and pointed to a small row of carts with screens by the door.

After scanning the barcode, one of the screens lit up: "Automatic cart number 36 is at your service. Please enter your phone's location."

"Haha! This is the first time I've seen a talking cart!" Zheng Lei walked around the cart.

This is a robot carrying a 60cm square basket, also with tracks underneath. There's a screen on one side of the basket, and a barcode scanner next to it.

After entering the location, the little guy has been following Zhang Shuqi.

These people were just visiting and didn't actually want to buy anything at first, but after going around, they found that their baskets were full!

"What did you take? Are you squandering public funds?" The team leader was a little shocked when he saw the baskets of things.
