Chapter 130

If I were the Milky Way, you would be the sun.

On a chilly night, the private ward on the top floor of the health and wellness center always gives one the illusion of being isolated at such a height.

Cheng Sangluo lay on her side on the spacious and comfortable hospital bed, emitting long sobs. She seemed to want to change her position but could not move. The continuous fighting that night had left her with soreness all over her body, and the wound on her back was also throbbing with pain.

It's highly likely that the medication is at play. These days, she's only been lucid for short periods. She opens her eyes and soon becomes drowsy again. She often hears Lin Jin's soft calls in her ears, but she can't shake off her chaotic dreams.

This condition lasted for two whole days before it gradually eased.

Her embrace was soft and full, the person buried in her heart conveyed her body temperature, and there was that familiar, comforting scent of cedar.

Cheng Sangluo buried her head with difficulty, but even the slightest movement of the back of her neck caused a tearing pain in the wound on her spine.

She gasped in pain, instantly becoming exceptionally clear-headed, but even with such difficulty, she stubbornly chose to nod and see the face in her arms.

Lin Jin has been taking care of Cheng Sangluo these past few days, and she sleeps in Cheng Sangluo's arms every night, but she doesn't sleep very soundly. The slightest noise or disturbance will trigger an overly strong reaction.

Hearing Cheng Sangluo's distressed sobs, she quickly sat up to check on him. When she met her lover's sickly eyes, her panic subsided somewhat, turning into deep heartache.

"Are you feeling unwell?" Lin Jin leaned close to Cheng Sangluo, wrapping one arm around her head and gently tucking the blanket around her with the other hand, continuing to ask softly, "Do you want some water?"

Cheng Sangluo was indeed very thirsty; her chapped lips twitched a few times before she let out a hoarse "hmm."

Lin Jin quickly poured a cup of hot water, dipped a cotton swab in it, and carefully applied it to her lips. "It's a little hot, let me moisturize your lips first, okay?"

"Okay." Cheng Sangluo didn't have the strength to say anything more, but her eyes held a sense of relief after surviving a disaster. Seeing her beloved safe and sound made all the pain and discomfort slowly subside.

Her gaze followed the swaying fingertips, then gradually settled on the face with half-closed eyes. Lin Jin's complexion was not good; she hadn't slept well all night, and her pale face revealed exhaustion.

Lin Jin stared blankly at Cheng Sangluo's bloodless lips, feeling the intense gaze, before slowly meeting it.

Only a dim, warm bedside lamp was lit in the ward, its light filtering through the floor-to-ceiling windows, which at least added a touch of warmth to the atmosphere.

After going through life and death, the young couple looked at each other silently, which was better than a passionate kiss. Wasn't this also a kind of kiss?

Lin Jin's emotional breakdown came suddenly. Unable to resist the soreness rising in her nose, her dark eyes, with a hint of red at the corners, gradually filled with tears that threatened to spill over, until they rolled down her high nose bridge one by one.

She really didn't want Cheng Sangluo to see her most vulnerable side, so she turned her head away, silently wiped away her tears, and sniffled to compose herself.

"Don't cry," Cheng Sangluo comforted Lin Jin in a hoarse voice. Even though raising her arm would aggravate her wound, she still endured the pain and hugged Lin Jin tightly. "I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?"

Lin Jin held her head tightly, kissing her forehead repeatedly, as if she were a priceless treasure that had been lost and found again, not daring to relax for even a moment. She was too afraid that if she let go, the one she loved so much that drove her crazy would disappear into thin air. "You could have just left me, why did you have to fight with those vicious dogs? If you were gone, what would be the point of my life?"

"You're silly." Cheng Sangluo closed her eyes wearily, her nose gently brushing against her lover's neck, inhaling the comforting scent. "When have I ever stood by and watched you die in trouble? If I hadn't abandoned you on the street that day, none of this would have happened... Lin Jin... I'm sorry... it was all my fault..."

"I don't blame you, and I won't allow you to apologize. The one who's wrong is Lin Sheng, and he's the one who should pay the price!" Lin Jin's eyes, which had been burning with passion from the kiss, suddenly turned icy, and an unyielding killing intent was wrapped in her obsessive love.

Mentioning Lin Sheng, Cheng Sangluo perked up and asked in a low voice, "Any news from Lin Sheng?"

Lin Jin gently lifted her chin, feeding her small sips of water while patiently explaining, "The police have issued an arrest warrant and are searching the entire city, but they haven't found him and don't know where he's hiding. Xu Songheng's remains have been dug up, though, in the dog yard behind the villa. I was too impulsive that day; in my anger, I blurted out everything I knew, so he wanted to drag you down with him, to do the same thing. He wanted to use the same method as Xu Songheng's death to get rid of us, at least so that there would be no witnesses and it would delay the police investigation. He just didn't expect you and the police to arrive so quickly."

Cheng Sangluo listened attentively, but couldn't help kissing her lover's neck. When she was so engrossed in the kiss that she felt like she was burning up, her lips were covered in a fiery red.

Having survived this near-death experience, she had no time to think about the future; all she wanted right now was to cherish the time with Lin Jin and live a peaceful and safe life.

She deliberately exhaled warm, moist breath, her nose brushing against him with kisses, her soft tongue licking him lightly and heavily, causing the person in her arms to involuntarily shrink back, "Wife... I missed you..."

Lin Jin felt the tingling sensation on his neck, and affectionately stroked Cheng Sangluo's face, unable to contain his emotions as he whispered in her ear, "Sweetie, I'll take you home in two more days, okay... You can't... Be good..."

Cheng Sangluo, enduring the pain, raised her chin, meeting her lover's eyes filled with suppressed desire, and kissed the corner of her lips. "We haven't... in a long time, so..."

She deliberately hesitated, even though she was in unbearable pain all over her body, she couldn't resist the longing from the depths of her soul.

In Cheng Sangluo's mind, Lin Jin was already her spoils of war, so all she wanted was to have her in an ordinary way.

She grabbed her lover's hand, brought it to her lips little by little, and slowly, gently, she bit into his fingertip, savoring the taste with her teeth and swirling it with her tongue, murmuring in a blissful daze, "I'm hungry... I want to eat Lin Jin..."

"Sigh...you..." Lin Jin couldn't resist the stubborn puppy's temper any longer, so she pretended to be serious and warned, "Don't move around too much. With so many stitches in your wound, it's easy to tear it and cause bleeding. And don't be greedy or ask for anything. You need to rest now; your energy and blood are very weak... um..."

Cheng Sangluo didn't give her a chance to warn her, leaning closer to press her lips together. "Okay... I promise... I'll only play in the 'garden'... I promise I won't 'enter'..."

The couple kissed passionately, sometimes appearing a little clumsy in their eagerness, but they would laugh and continue their tongues dancing.

They wanted to devour each other whole, to ingrain each other into their very bones. If they weren't both injured, how could the small space of the hospital bed withstand such torment?

Lin Jin couldn't bear to hurt her beloved puppy by squeezing it, so she deliberately shifted her body. As a result, someone rushed over and clung to her, regardless of how sick she was.

"Are you avoiding me?" Cheng Sangluo asked urgently, like a cat playing with a mouse. Her tone wasn't resentful, but rather like the teasing anticipation before something intimate. "Darling... don't avoid me..."

She lacked strength, so she couldn't wrap her arms around Lin Jin's waist as tightly as usual, but her temper was more domineering than before. "I'm asking you, in my current state, do you think you'll agree to anything I ask you for?"

Lin Jin wrapped her bathrobe tighter and smoothed her hair, seemingly hesitant, probably afraid that Cheng Sangluo would ask to leave. But after hesitating, she nodded gently: "Tell me what you want first. I'm willing to give you anything I can."

Perhaps feeling she shouldn't overthink things, she started brainwashing herself again, saying confidently, "It's quite rare. This seems to be the first time you've asked me for something on your own initiative. How could I refuse? Tell me, what do you want?"

Cheng Sangluo's mind was blank; she wasn't thinking about anything else. All she wanted was a restrained night of revelry.

She unbuttoned her hospital gown with one hand, tilted her head to look directly at Lin Jin, whose eyes were curved in a smile, and said bluntly, "Take off your clothes...in front of me..."

Lin Jin raised an eyebrow at the sound and chuckled, "Did Lin Sheng's dog bite your head? Why have you suddenly become so clever and like to play games with me like this?"

With her collar undone, Cheng Sangluo's injured back couldn't be properly supported, so she had to prop herself up on one elbow and cross her injured leg over her knee, giving her the look of someone who was looking for a womanizer.

She reached out and hooked her fingertips around Lin Jin's belt, twirling it between her fingers, and said calmly, "Not a single piece is allowed to be left...and then..."

"Straddle over..." Perhaps the teasing words were too difficult to say, Cheng Sangluo leaned closer, burying her face in Lin Jin's chest, inhaling the rich fragrance, and said in a muffled voice, "My waist..."

The intermittent commands suddenly transformed into light feathers, sweeping across Lin Jin's heart and stirring up ripples that, layer upon layer, were like an itch that could not be scratched.

"So what you wanted was so simple." She smiled helplessly, but was also glad that her lover wasn't greedy. She simply took off half of the silky robe and draped it over her arm, revealing her fair, jade-like back, which was soaked in the coolness of the night.

She felt the comforting warmth of her lover's hand supporting her back, and the rough texture of sand, until his palm touched the scar, causing her brow to furrow involuntarily.

Lin Jin in Cheng Sangluo's eyes always shone with a light that only she could see. Her vocabulary was limited, so her metaphors seemed inadequate, but she would spare no effort in displaying the romantic ideas she could think of.

Her kiss burned, scorching every inch of her fair skin, as she murmured, "You are like the Milky Way."

"The Milky Way?" Lin Jin's neck felt ticklish from the kiss, but she laughed because of the metaphor, so she pressed on, "And then?"

"So my kisses can be scattered like stars." Cheng Sangluo asked seriously, and answered seriously as well.

Lin Jin lovingly stroked her face with his fingertips, then asked, "So what are you?"

Cheng Sangluo laughed self-deprecatingly: "I am unworthy of your insignificance, a tiny speck of dust."

"Don't say anything that belittles yourself!" Lin Jin's fingertip moved to Cheng Sangluo's lips and touched them. "If I were the Milky Way, you would be the sun. I would be willing to be the nurturing bed for you, but I would prefer to be a planet in the solar system, because I only want to revolve around you."

Cheng Sangluo said, seemingly out of nowhere, "Then...then you be the moon, and I'll be on Earth."

Lin Jin carefully straddled her lover's seat, her expression puzzled by the deeper meaning of those sweet words: "Why?"

“When I look up at you…” At this moment, Cheng Sangluo was looking up with her chin raised, her eyes filled with deep affection, just as she had said: “Your light will shine on me. I have a small selfish wish, I ask you to shine on me alone.”

"Okay, my dear sun, I promise you." Lin Jin pinched the puppy's cheek and gave it a sincere kiss that left no room for doubt. "Let's make a promise with this kiss."

The thick night, like a heavy curtain, obscured the clouds and moon in the sky.

In the quiet ward, intermittent gasps could be heard, sometimes accompanied by laughter of relief after surviving a close call.
