After He Hua moved the things over, she saw that Chen Gang was still lying naked on the bed. She sat down and touched him with her hand.

"What are you doing?" Chen Gang quickly grabbed her hand.

"Brother Chen Gang, hurry up and put your clothes on, the people from the educated youth settlement will be back soon."

"From now on, this room will belong to just the two of us, and I want to decorate it nicely now," He Hua said shyly.

"What are you busy with? Lunch is ready?" Chen Gang said impatiently.

"Oh, I forgot. I'll go cook now, you wait here." After saying that, He Hua rushed to the kitchen to cook.

Seeing that Hehua had left, Chen Gang quickly got up and put on his clothes.

This bed is too hard; his knees are a little sore from doing that kind of thing just now.

It's more convenient to stay in a thatched hut; the straw is soft and doesn't hurt at all.

After He Hua finished cooking, Zheng Yuanyuan and Xie Qiuying, who were also cooking, returned.

He Hua, carrying a bowl of porridge, greeted them with a smile: "You're back. I've finished using the kitchen; you can use it now."

Zheng Yuanyuan and Xie Qiuying looked at He Hua as she entered Chen Gang's room, exchanging bewildered glances: Did they live together?

Regardless of what the two people outside were doing, He Hua was currently eating salt porridge with Chen Gang.

"Is this porridge salty?" Chen Gang asked.

"Yes, there's no time to cook, so let's have some salty porridge to cleanse our stomachs," He Hua explained to Chen Gang.

Chen Gang didn't say anything more. He added some salt and oil to the freshly cooked porridge, and it tasted quite delicious.

Moreover, the two of them hadn't eaten anything all morning and were starving.

The two sat quietly in the room and ate. As Chen Gang ate, he looked at He Hua and wondered if he would be living with her from now on.

After finishing her meal, He Hua began tidying up the house. She spread the bed sheets she had brought on Chen Gang's hard bed and folded the quilt neatly.

"Brother Chen Gang, we're running out of firewood. How about we go to the foot of the mountain and gather some more?"

"Alright." Chen Gang was the first to walk out of the room.

He Hua quickly closed the door and caught up with Chen Gang.

The midday sun was still quite strong, and the heat was intense.

But the two of them wore straw hats, and they had gotten used to the sun after three months in the countryside.

When they reached the foot of the mountain, they ran into Song Liuzi from Liucun.

During his time in the village, Song Liuzi had already learned about the two of them. It was such a pity that he hadn't been able to catch them last time with Yingzi.

"Hey, you adulterous couple, what are you doing up in the mountains? Do you want to do those shady things in that thatched hut again?"

"Who are you? What business is it of yours that we're here?" Chen Gang retorted angrily.

"Exactly, a grown man whining like a shrew," He Hua said disapprovingly.

"I'm telling you, you two adulterers, doing shameful things in broad daylight, ruining the village's straw."

Even dogs wouldn't dare do this in broad daylight, yet you dare, you adulterers!

"So what if we did it? Someone like you will never get married in your next life and will die alone, you scoundrel," He Hua retorted angrily.

"Tch, you two, be careful going up the mountain, you might get mauled by a wild boar." Song Liuzi said and left.

"You're the one who got 'touched' by wild boars! Your whole family got 'touched' by wild boars! You cheap slut, you filthy scoundrel!" He Hua angrily retorted.

"Let's go, don't pay attention to this kind of person."

Chen Gang led He Hua up the mountain and began collecting firewood.

There was very little firewood on the outer perimeter; it had all been picked clean by others. They had no choice but to walk to the middle of the perimeter before they found a few branches.

Suddenly, He Hua heard a soft sound, as if something was approaching. She looked around warily, but found nothing.

"What's wrong?" Chen Gang noticed her unusual behavior.

"It's nothing, I probably misheard." He Hua smiled, trying to hide her unease.

They continued walking deeper into the mountains, hoping to collect more branches.

However, as they bent down to pick up the branches, a wild boar rushed out of the woods and pounced straight at them.

Chen Gang grabbed He Hua and they ran quickly. "What should we do? We can't outrun it," He Hua said fearfully.

"We have to run, even if we can't outrun them, otherwise we're doomed," Chen Gang said anxiously.

As Chen Gang ran, he observed his surroundings.

He spotted a large tree ahead, with a deep pit beneath it. "Quick, jump into the pit!"

He pulled He Hua to the edge of the pit, and the two jumped in together. He Hua landed on top of Chen Gang, who couldn't help but cry out.

The wild boar chased after them, but seeing no one, it kept circling in place. After circling for a while and finding no human presence, it finally turned and left.

"Brother Chen Gang, it's not making any sound. Has it left?"

"Let me see." Chen Gang cautiously tried to jump higher to see what was happening outside, but the pit was too deep for him to see.

After a while, when they felt no movement, they finally breathed a sigh of relief and leaned against the tree to rest.

"Luckily, we escaped a disaster," He Hua said.

"Yes, thanks to this pit," Chen Gang said, panting.

"It's all that scoundrel's fault. If it weren't for his jinx, we wouldn't be so unlucky."

"Brother Chen Gang, how do we get up there?" He Hua asked worriedly.

“I’ll hold you, and you can try to climb up by stepping on it.” After saying that, Chen Gang immediately picked He Hua up.

It was quite a struggle for him to lift He Hua; he never expected someone who looked so thin to be so heavy.
