Sitting in the helicopter, Lin Xia felt much better. She had finally leveled up. She checked the time; it was 10 a.m., the sixth day.
There are still nearly five days left in this world. After a few days of peace, the real crisis has finally arrived.
Thinking of the monster they fought a few days ago, Lin Xia's mood turned heavy. If the monsters below were all of that level, she wondered how many people could survive...
As soon as they got off the plane, they saw a number of heavily armed people pointing their weapons at them.
Backup successful: Backup of 1 rocket launcher, 1 survival point required.
Backup successful: Backup of 1 light machine gun, 1 survival point required.
Backup successful: Backup of machine gun *1, survival points required: 1
Backup successful: 1 sniper rifle backup, 1 survival point required.
There were also backups of various types of ammunition, but Lin Xia didn't examine them all closely. The bullets for these ordinary weapons were too few, far inferior to those produced by the system.
The players were alright; although their expressions changed drastically, they were still perceptive enough to have survived this long. They looked at each other but didn't move. However, the natives were not having it.
"What are you doing? Why are you pointing guns at us?"
"Shouldn't you be protecting us? My son is still at school..."
......
The group dispersed, revealing the zombies behind the glass door. Everyone covered their mouths in terror.
"Those without superpowers, come over here. Those with superpowers, wait where you are."
Upon hearing this, people looked at each other, unsure whether they should leave the superhuman beside them.
"Don't panic, everyone. Some of the monsters inside are too much for our warriors to handle, so we can only rely on these superhumans. They have to clear the way ahead. Are you... sure you want to follow?" As soon as Dr. Ma finished speaking, the natives couldn't wait to leave their original positions and stand on the other side.
Xie Cheng walked to Lin Xia's side, while Ji Wei lagged slightly behind on the other side. Xie Cheng's comrade followed behind and, at his request, added the two of them to the group chat.
Lin Xia watched as Dr. Ma walked to the back of the crowd. Her hand twitched. She could kill all these people right now, but if they opened fire, there might not be many survivors. They had to leave the city first.
"Don't worry, there aren't that many monsters. We won't send you all to your deaths. This passage leads to the outside world. It's just a pity that there are a few unkillable monsters lurking inside. Thank you all for your help," Dr. Ma said with a smile.
It was pitch black inside. Lin Xia and Xie Cheng exchanged a glance and led the way forward, each holding a long knife. As they walked, the lights inside gradually came on.
The two paused, only then realizing that the passage was extremely wide, with transparent glass on both sides, and strangely shaped experimental subjects inside.
There were all sorts of animals, humans, and things that were a combination of animals and humans, monsters that were a combination of animals, and monsters that were completely unrecognizable. The more Lin Xia looked, the angrier she became. Those experimenters were not human at all, they were demons!
Inside the glass windows, some people were standing still with their eyes closed, while others were frantically smashing the glass. When the two of them saw the broken glass, they finally understood why there was danger.
Lin Xia couldn't understand why, if it was a passage for escaping, these dangerous experimental subjects would be placed here.
She quickened her pace; many of these enormous creatures looked far more dangerous than the one she had killed.
Lin Xia shook her head; how could she share a brain with those real 'monsters'?
Xie Cheng was surprised by her quickened pace, but he quickly followed. Some people caught up quickly behind him, while others continued to move forward cautiously, and some even deliberately slowed down to stay at the back.
Suddenly, a tentacle shot straight at Lin Xia from the darkness. Lin Xia swiftly severed it with his longsword, and it fell to the ground, sizzling and oozing black liquid. A hiss rang out, followed by even more tentacles.
The crowd quickly descended into chaos. Lin Xia and Xie Cheng worked together quite well, both quick to cut off the approaching tentacles. After walking a little further, they saw the monster in its entirety.
It was an octopus, its entire body covered in tentacles. It had a large mouth full of sharp teeth. Its body was rotting and green, covered in mucus that dripped onto the ground. Its eyes were large and murky.
Lin Xia discovered that its tentacles could actually grow new ones after being cut off. Everyone kept working, so the regeneration speed of the severed tentacles on the ground slowed down, and they approached the octopus monster.
"Look at its lower body!" someone exclaimed.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out that its lower body was actually human legs. Because of its enormous upper body and the tentacles that concealed it, it had not been noticed at first.
"Ugh~~" Many people vomited. Lin Xia's face tightened. She scanned the area with her mental energy and discovered that the octopus was connected to a huge tube with liquid flowing inside.
Lin Xia moved swiftly behind it, slashed at it with his sword, severing the pipe. All the tentacles then surged towards Lin Xia like madmen.
Lin Xia retreated rapidly, but the octopus slowly moved towards her. She realized that the tentacles wouldn't regenerate after being cut off. She kept swinging her long sword, while Xie Cheng chased after her, hacking away wildly.
In the car following behind, Dr. Ma, wearing protective clothing, stared intently at the two instruments in front of him. One was a video of a fight, and the other was an energy collector. His brows were furrowed, and the energy fluctuations were not obvious, nor could he pinpoint the energy source.
Dr. Ma only came to his senses after Lin Xia cleaved the octopus monster's head in two with a single stroke. He was very dissatisfied because he hadn't seen Lin Xia wield the throwing knife.
She looked at the tubes attached to each monster; the octopus monster's tube had broken, and the liquid inside was gushing onto the ground.
