Chapter 38 Meng Yanchen's Strategy

Fan Shengmei took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. She gazed at the darkening sky outside the window, silently hoping Meng Yanchen's strategy would work. However, her intuition told her things wouldn't be so simple. The industry association and competitors were employing increasingly sophisticated tactics; could Meng Yanchen really resolve this crisis smoothly? Filled with worry, she packed her things and slowly left the office.

The next morning, Fan Shengmei walked into the Fu Group with a nervous heart. She could feel the strange looks from her colleagues, but she ignored them and went straight to Meng Yanchen's office.

She knocked gently on the door, and after receiving a reply, Fan Shengmei pushed it open and entered. Meng Yanchen was standing by the window with his back to the door. Hearing the noise, he turned around. His eyes showed fatigue, but when he saw Fan Shengmei, he still managed a smile. Fan Shengmei quickly walked up to him and said anxiously, "Yanchen, I thought about it for a long time after I went back yesterday, and I'm still very worried. I don't know what I'll face today."

Meng Yanchen gestured for her to sit down, then sat down in the chair opposite him, his expression grave. "Shengmei, I understand your concerns. I was also thinking about countermeasures last night. Right now, we need to stabilize the company internally first and not let them be easily influenced by outside opinions."

Fan Shengmei nodded slightly, her eyes full of anticipation: "Do you have any ideas?"

Meng Yanchen crossed his arms, pondered for a moment, and then said, "I plan to assign you a project. Although it is small, it is crucial and will fully demonstrate your abilities. As long as you do a good job, those doubts will naturally diminish."

Fan Shengmei bit her lip, hesitating slightly: "I'm worried... they'll interfere and prevent me from proceeding smoothly."

Meng Yanchen reached out and gently took her hand, comforting her, "I will hint to everyone in the senior management meeting not to blindly follow the trend and ostracize you. The company needs capable people, not followers who go with the flow."

Fan Shengmei looked at Meng Yanchen gratefully, a warm feeling welling up in her heart: "Yanchen, thank you for doing so much for me."

Meng Yanchen gently patted her hand: "Don't say that. We're facing this together. Go back and prepare first. I'll have someone send you the project information later."

After Fan Shengmei left, Meng Yanchen checked the time and got up to go to the executive conference room. When he entered, the room was already full. Everyone stood up to greet him. Meng Yanchen nodded slightly in acknowledgment and then sat down in the head seat.

At the start of the meeting, Meng Yanchen first summarized the company's recent business situation, then changed the subject: "Recently, there has been some unhealthy atmosphere in the company, which everyone should have noticed. We cannot develop prejudices against our colleagues because of some unfounded rumors, especially in projects, we must be fair and impartial."

His gaze swept over the crowd, and he continued, "Take Fan Shengmei for example. The projects she was in charge of before achieved good results, which is obvious to everyone. We should give her more support and trust, instead of questioning her without reason."

Upon hearing Meng Yanchen mention Fan Shengmei, the expressions of some of the senior executives changed slightly. One of them, surnamed Li, frowned and said, "President Meng, while that's true, there are many rumors circulating about her in the industry lately, so we have to be cautious."

Meng Yanchen glanced at him and said firmly, "Rumors are just rumors. We can't believe things without evidence. We must trust our own judgment and, more importantly, trust the company's performance evaluation standards."

Another senior executive surnamed Wang echoed, "President Meng, I understand what you mean. But the industry association is putting a lot of pressure on us right now, and if we don't handle it well, it might affect the company's reputation."

Meng Yanchen said with a serious expression: "Reputation is maintained by our strength and performance, not by following the crowd and ostracizing our own employees. We cannot be led by the nose by outsiders; we must keep a clear head."

Despite Meng Yanchen's clear stance, the expressions of several high-ranking officials revealed that some did not agree with his views. After the meeting, Meng Yanchen returned to his office, his mood somewhat heavy. He knew that his strategy had displeased some high-ranking officials influenced by the old forces, and they might take action to sabotage the plan.

Meanwhile, Fan Shengmei received the project materials. She sat at her desk, carefully reviewing them, her heart filled with both anticipation and apprehension. This project was crucial for her, a golden opportunity to prove herself, but she also worried that those with grudges might sabotage her behind her back.

The office was eerily quiet, save for the rustling sound of her turning the pages of documents. Sunlight streamed through the window, bathing her in its warmth, but she felt no comfort. She knew the road ahead would be fraught with challenges; whether Meng Yanchen's strategy would succeed was entirely uncertain. She dared not think about what actions the disgruntled higher-ups might take to sabotage the plan, but she knew she had to give it her all.
