Chapter 4 Difficult Coping

Fan Shengmei rubbed her sore eyes, looked at the neatly organized documents on the table, and took a deep breath. She knew this was just the beginning; she didn't know what kind of difficulties Wang Qiang would bring next. But she was prepared to stick to this job no matter what, and she also looked forward to Meng Yanchen's attitude. As dawn broke, she picked up the documents and walked towards Wang Qiang's office with slightly heavy but firm steps.

The morning sunlight streamed through the windows, casting dappled patterns of light and shadow on the office floor. Fan Shengmei walked to Wang Qiang's office door, knocked gently, and heard a "Come in" from inside. She took a deep breath, pushed open the door, and went inside.

Wang Qiang was sitting at his desk, legs crossed. When he saw Fan Shengmei enter, a flicker of surprise crossed his eyes, but he quickly regained his arrogant demeanor. "So early? You've finished all your work?" Wang Qiang's tone was clearly questioning.

Fan Shengmei placed the documents on the table and said as calmly as possible, "Mr. Wang, everything has been completed as you requested."

Wang Qiang slowly picked up the document, casually flipped through a few pages, and his expression gradually darkened. "Fan Shengmei, what kind of nonsense is this? The data is full of errors, and the information is incomplete. Are you just trying to fool me?" He slammed the document heavily on the table, scattering it all over the floor.

Fan Shengmei's heart tightened. She had clearly checked the data repeatedly last night, and the documents were all organized according to requirements. How could this have happened? "President Wang, I checked carefully last night. The data should be accurate, and the documents are all complete." Fan Shengmei tried her best to make her voice sound firm.

Wang Qiang sneered, "You still dare to argue? These data don't match the original documents I have at all, and the documents are missing several crucial pages. You say there's no problem?"

Fan Shengmei bent down to pick up the documents from the ground, quickly flipping through them, a surge of anger and helplessness welling up inside her. She discovered that the data was different from what she had seen last night; it was clearly been tampered with. She was certain that the missing parts of the data were present last night. "Mr. Wang, someone deliberately altered the data, and some of the information was taken. It wasn't like this when I finished my work last night," Fan Shengmei said, looking directly into Wang Qiang's eyes, trying to find a clue in his expression.

Wang Qiang remained unmoved. "Hmph, don't try to make excuses. You didn't do your job well, and you're trying to shift the blame to someone else?"

Fan Shengmei knew that arguing with Wang Qiang at this point would be pointless; he was clearly determined to make things difficult for her. "Mr. Wang, could you please give me some more time so I can reorganize these data and information?" Fan Shengmei tried her best to suppress her anger, her tone carrying a hint of pleading.

Wang Qiang leaned back in his chair, his arms crossed over his chest. "Okay, but before you leave work today, hand me a complete and error-free report. If you still can't do it right, you don't need to come to work anymore."

Fan Shengmei bit her lip. "Okay, Mr. Wang, I will finish it on time." After saying that, she turned and walked out of the office.

Back at her workstation, Fan Shengmei looked at the pile of documents Wang Qiang had thrown back at her, her heart filled with mixed emotions. She knew this time the difficulties were greater than she had imagined; she not only had to reorganize the data and materials, but also find the person behind the sabotage. But time was of the essence, so she could only focus on finishing the work first.

The office area gradually became lively as colleagues arrived one after another. Seeing Fan Shengmei busily organizing documents, some cast sympathetic glances, while others whispered among themselves. Fan Shengmei paid no attention to them; she threw herself wholeheartedly into her work.

However, things didn't go so smoothly. While reorganizing the data, Fan Shengmei discovered that much of the original material had been tampered with, and some data was even completely untraceable. She sought help from her colleagues, hoping to borrow some relevant materials, but they all refused with various excuses. "Sorry, I'm too busy with my own work." "I can't lend out these materials; it's company policy." These cold words left Fan Shengmei feeling utterly isolated and helpless.

Fan Shengmei felt a wave of despair. Her eyes were blurry from staring at the computer screen for so long, and her fingers ached from constantly typing. But she couldn't give up. The debts of her family of origin weighed heavily on her, and her deal with Meng Yanchen meant she couldn't easily lose her job.

Just when Fan Shengmei was on the verge of collapse, she suddenly remembered seeing some relevant data in the company's old database. Although the hope was slim, she decided to give it a try.

Fan Shengmei got up and walked towards the old archives. The archives were in the company's basement, dimly lit and filled with the smell of old paper. She turned on the light, and rows of bookshelves appeared before her, piled high with various documents and materials. Fan Shengmei took a deep breath and began searching among the bookshelves.

Time ticked by as Fan Shengmei moved among the bookshelves, flipping through documents one by one. Sweat soaked her back, and her hair was slightly disheveled, but she didn't care. Finally, in a corner, she found a dusty folder containing the crucial data she needed.

Fan Shengmei was overjoyed. She took the folder back to her workstation and continued working. With this data, her work progress significantly accelerated. However, she knew that this only temporarily solved the data problem; the missing information had not yet been found.

Meanwhile, in the Fu Group office, Meng Yanchen was monitoring Fan Shengmei's situation through various channels. When he learned that Fan Shengmei was facing difficulties at the company again, being deliberately harassed by Wang Qiang, and that her colleagues were refusing to help her, a hint of displeasure flashed in his eyes. He decided he could no longer stand idly by; it was time to intervene in some way.

Meng Yanchen picked up his phone and dialed a number. "Help me check on Fan Shengmei's company, especially the recent activities of her boss, Wang Qiang. Also, find a way to provide her with some necessary assistance, but don't let her know it was me." A "Understood" came from the other end of the line, and then the call ended.

Meanwhile, Fan Shengmei was still working hard to finish her tasks, unaware that Meng Yanchen was already making moves in secret. As she organized the new data, she pondered how to fill in the missing sections. Suddenly, she realized she could supplement the missing information using industry reports and publicly available materials. While this might not be perfect, it would at least make the report appear more complete.

Fan Shengmei turned on her computer and began searching online for relevant industry reports and publicly available information. She carefully sifted through each document, extracting useful information to supplement her own report.

As time passed and the sun began to set, colleagues in the office area started leaving one after another. Fan Shengmei looked at the report gradually completing on her computer and breathed a slight sigh of relief. But she knew that the report still needed to be checked again to ensure there were no errors.

Fan Shengmei rubbed her temples, forcing herself to stay alert, and began the final check of the report. She read through the report word by word, carefully verifying every piece of data and information. The sky outside the window grew darker, and only her workstation's light remained on in the office area. The surrounding silence seemed to encourage her, allowing her to focus even more intently on her work.

Finally, around 8 p.m., Fan Shengmei finished checking and revising the report. She took another deep breath, saved the report, and prepared to hand it in to Wang Qiang first thing the next morning. At this moment, she was utterly exhausted, but her heart was filled with a glimmer of hope.

Will Fan Shengmei be able to overcome numerous difficulties to complete the task and satisfy Wang Qiang? Who is the person behind this sabotage? All of this remains to be seen.
