Unfamiliar Yet Raising 70s Children Together: A Couple's Daily Life

Song Qing and Lu Yang's marriage was a muddled affair. At the beginning of that special era, fearing implication, her parents forced her to break up with her ex-boyfriend and used their connect...

Chapter 29: Putting the clothes in myself

The temperature inside was quite high. Song Qing took off her military overcoat and folded it neatly. It seemed that Lu Yang had put on his thick clothes to take a shower, so he could just put on his clothes when he came back. There was no need to bring him the military overcoat.

They made three large wardrobes, two for the south room and one for the north room. Originally, they planned for her and An'an to share one wardrobe, and Lu Yang to have his own.

But she found that she had too much stuff, and Lu Yang only had one duffel bag, which didn't take up much space.

So the two cabinets were used to store clothes for different seasons. She finally finished packing at noon and even made room for him, but he just left his luggage bag there and didn't care. Does he want to be a hands-off manager at home?

Song Qing had no intention of indulging his bad habit. Her bottom line was lowered step by step, and once he didn't want to lower it anymore, it was too late to pull him back.

When her mother was young, she took care of all the housework. Her father took it for granted and would not even pick up the broom when it fell over, waiting for her mother to do it.

What could her mother do?

I've talked to him and even scolded him, but he just won't do it. In the end, the person who couldn't stand it anymore had to do it.

She had to set a good example. If he really had a lot of bad habits, Song Qing didn't plan to tolerate him. It was just a pity about this house; she had put so much effort into decorating it. If they got divorced, it wouldn't belong to her anymore.

The quilt used for their wedding was made exceptionally large, and it took a lot of effort to gather all the cotton. It had just been aired out and smelled wonderful. She had already gotten used to this quilt, so she gave the new quilt to Lu Yang himself.

She felt a little nervous at the thought of tonight.

"An'an, stand at the end of the kang (heated brick bed), Mom will spread out the quilt."

When Lu Yang returned, he saw two blankets placed side by side, separated by a distance of two fists.

He pursed his lips, and his heart, which had been boiling with excitement that made the hairs on his body stand on end, finally returned to its normal pace.

Those problems that were deliberately ignored are beginning to surface.

Looking at the brand-new, cozy house and An'an sitting on the edge of the kang playing with candy wrappers, he kept telling himself to be content. They even have a child now, so what are you afraid of, Lu Yang?

There is still a long way to go.

When he came in, Song Qing's face gradually turned red, probably because she forgot to bring a towel. Lu Yang's hair was still dripping wet, and he was wearing a white vest and green trousers.

Despite the cold weather, he walked back into the house from the shower room dressed like that, without even worrying about catching a cold.

Song Qing kept telling herself not to look at what was improper, but she couldn't stop her eyes from glancing in his direction.

The white vest was slightly transparent when wet, revealing the muscle definition, broad shoulders, narrow waist, and shapely buttocks encased in green trousers.

Although many years have passed, she knows that her waist is filled with boundless strength, after all, she once measured it with her legs.

Cough cough cough.

Quickly pull your attention back to tidy up the small, broken items. An'an holds the candy wrapper up to the light and occasionally lets out a "wow!"

Both mother and daughter were busy with their own things and didn't notice Lu Yang's current predicament. Yes, like Song Qing, he washed his underwear after taking a shower.

He clutched his wrung-out underwear, feeling his face gradually burning again, his emotions, which had finally calmed down, beginning to surge once more.

We considered all the major household items, but forgot about something as small as the clothesline.

No wonder she looked so annoyed and resentful when he took the clothes out. Where did she put her clothes?

He stood there dumbfounded, his gaze darting around the room. After a moment, he realized it was impossible; it must have been left outside to dry.

Thank goodness, Song Qing finally put down what he was doing and casually said "North Room" to him.

Lu Yang grabbed a clothes hanger and hurried to the north room. He turned on the light but didn't dare to look around too much. He quickly hung up his clothes and left.

"Mom, are you hot? Your face is all red."

An'an was holding the red blanket up to the light, initially thinking it was just the candy wrapper, but then she realized that Song Qing's face was really red, and she stared at it curiously.

"Really?" Song Qing tested the temperature of her cheek with the back of her hand. "Perhaps the kang (heated brick bed) is too hot."

She realized that her underwear was still hanging there, and he could see it when he went over.

The couple, whose two children were almost four years old, became awkward over such a small matter. Lu Yang ran to the kitchen, brought out some boiled water that had been cooled down, and poured it all down his throat.

When he returned to the room, he found Song Qing sorting various tickets and certificates with a box in her hand.

He only took some ordinary tickets today, but he had a few large tickets hidden away. At that moment, he saw the duffel bag on the stool again.

Lu Yang couldn't quite explain what he was thinking. He only had a few sets of clothes, which he could easily stuff into the closet, but he hoped that she could pull him into her territory, like she did with An An, so that their clothes could be stored together.

In those days, cloth coupons were scarce, and most people only had a few sets of clothes, which couldn't possibly fill a wardrobe. So, Lu Yang interpreted Song Qing's decision to put two wardrobes in the room as a way of separating them from his own.

He's worn these clothes for so many years, they're practically worthless, they don't deserve such a big and nice wardrobe.

“I don’t know how you put your things, you can put them away yourself. The left side is for what you’re wearing now, and the right side is for light summer clothes.”

Song Qing had no idea what he was thinking. She just wanted him to put his things away quickly. Everything in the room should be in its proper place, and his duffel bag looked out of place.

Lu Yang's heart was swaying like it was soaking in warm water, and she didn't want to break up with him.

He opened a wardrobe, which smelled wonderfully of laundry soap. He hesitated for a moment, wondering if he should leave his clothes outside.

There is a blank space next to the third floor.

The empty space isn't large, especially small compared to the rest of the wardrobe, but it's enough to hold a season's worth of clothes.

Song Qingxuan's wardrobes are all double-door, double-layered wardrobes. The upper layer has smaller compartments, while the lower layer has larger compartments that can hold large items like quilts. Lu Yang also packed his luggage bag and put it in.

Song Qing and her mother had a lot of clothes. Cloth coupons were hard to come by, and these clothes were the result of a lot of effort. Naturally, she couldn't bear to throw them away, so she had her mother send them all over.

Song Qing's parents were both working parents, and she also had two older brothers who were workers. Back then, the policy of sending people to the countryside was not strict, and both of her brothers found jobs in the city.

When Song Qing graduated from high school and the college entrance examination was suspended, her father sensed something unusual and feared that she would have to go to the countryside according to the policy.

Adding to the situation was her ex-boyfriend's family, who then urgently sought out the Lu family to arrange a marriage for her.
