Song Qing and Lu Yang's marriage was a muddled affair. At the beginning of that special era, fearing implication, her parents forced her to break up with her ex-boyfriend and used their connect...
Feeling a thrill of getting into mischief, the four of them ran and played around all the way to the foot of the mountain. They had originally planned to just wander around for a bit, but they ended up playing around and forgot all about it.
"Wow"
Even the quietest and most shy Xiaoting couldn't help but exclaim in amazement as An'an, the leader, led them running around inside.
"I just saw it—"
Zhuangzhuang held An'an's hand and excitedly pointed to the bushes that flashed by, while An'an looked completely unfazed.
"It's definitely a rabbit!"
"What can we do? It's already run away."
He was about to chase after it when he realized he couldn't even see the rabbit. But his footsteps crunched through the bushes, and he kept thinking that the rabbit was hiding there watching him.
The person ran inside immediately, and everyone followed behind. Of course, they didn't find any wild rabbits. Later, An'an showed them many more traces of wild animals.
There was a stream in the woods, its water gurgling down. Moss grew along the banks of the stream. Sui Sui and Xiao Ting quietly squatted down beside it and reached out to play in the water.
Everything on the mountain was new and exciting to them, and all sorts of new discoveries made them forget that they had just said they would just take a walk at the foot of the mountain and then go to the village to find their uncle. They ran around and around on the mountaintop, and finally looked up at the inside.
"An'an..."
"Boss, let's go into the mountains and check for traps."
They were having so much fun that they had completely forgotten the adults' warnings. They were eager to explore the mountain and wanted to continue their adventure as a group, not wanting any more adults to come along.
An'an was just like them, but she had more experience and wasn't as excited. At this moment, her muddled mind cleared up a bit.
"No, Mom said we can't go up by ourselves."
If my mom finds out, I'll get a beating.
“We don’t need an adult. Look, we’ve found the foot of the mountain. Besides, you don’t know much about the mountain, so let’s go in, take a walk around, and then come out. You can lead the way.”
Sui Sui and Xiao Ting squatted by the stream, their shoes already soaked. "No, if Mom finds out, we won't be able to come next time."
There were four people in total, and three of them objected. Zhuangzhuang couldn't say anything more, so he just squatted to the side, puffing out his cheeks and looking a little angry.
Why do they have to be so obedient? They can do so well even without adults around.
An'an discovered a fish hiding behind pebbles in the stream. She took off her shoes and sneaked down to catch it, but the fish was too slippery to catch, and she ended up getting her clothes quite wet.
Xiaoting was somewhat tempted. She glanced at her soaked shoes and, since they were already wet, decided to just step into them.
Sui Sui saw this and thought, "No, I have to join in too."
So the three of them stood in the stream and chased after the little fish. The weather was hot and the stream water was cool. After they had played enough, they realized that Zhuangzhuang was gone.
"Where did he go?"
"Strong, strong, strong!"
"elder brother!"
The three of them came out of the stream and called out several times but no one came. They started to panic.
Sui Sui: "Did he go up the mountain by himself?"
Zhuangzhuang had been wanting to go up the mountain, so the three of them quickly joined hands and started walking up the mountain, calling out to him as they went.
Song Qing tidied up the yard at home, sewed a new dress, and cooked a simple bowl of noodles for lunch. Lu Yang didn't come back at noon, and Xiao Hui went to help out at the winery, so she was all alone at home.
She wasn't worried about the children. Even if they didn't come down the mountain at noon and stayed to play, Jian Dong could probably hunt and barbecue for them.
Around 2 or 3 p.m., she had something to do at her third aunt's house and thought she would pick them up on the way. Unexpectedly, she ran into Guan Lian as soon as she left the residential compound.
"Sister Guan, I'm sorry. An'an goes up the mountain every day and she doesn't get annoyed. Xiao Liang finally gets a day off and she still gets bothered by them."
Guan Lian was puzzled when she heard this. "An An didn't come to see Xiao Liang today. Xiao Liang was still doing his homework at home when I left."
At this point, Song Qing still didn't realize something was wrong; she thought An'an had gone directly to the village to find her uncle.
After saying goodbye to Sister Guan, I immediately went to Yanghe Village. The village was in the middle of construction when Aunt Tian looked up and saw her niece. She quickly waved her over.
Why didn't An'an come today?
After attending a week-long nursery school, I was like a wild bird released from its cage every weekend, wishing I could stay at my aunt's house for the entire two days.
"What? Auntie came over today to invite Jiandong to go hiking in the mountains?"
"No, Jiandong was just here cutting tree branches to make a slingshot."
Upon hearing this, Song Qing immediately went to find him. Aunt Tian, having heard that An An had brought several children to the village early in the morning to play on the mountain, was afraid that they would go up the mountain on their own, so she quickly followed behind.
Liu Jiandong looked bewildered. "She didn't come today."
This has almost become an unspoken understanding between An'an and them. Every weekend, as long as there is a holiday, she doesn't want to stay at home. So, Liu Jiandong also has to stay in the mountains with his mother, just like when he goes to work. He can't go anywhere because his mother is watching him.
He was puzzled for a while when An'an didn't come today, thinking that she had found something else fun.
"Oh no, what if these kids go by themselves?"
