Unfamiliar Yet Raising 70s Children Together: A Couple's Daily Life

Song Qing and Lu Yang's marriage was a muddled affair. At the beginning of that special era, fearing implication, her parents forced her to break up with her ex-boyfriend and used their connect...

Chapter 6 If it doesn't work, she'll take her daughter back.

Song Qing's family did not stay to listen to the couple's argument.

It started snowing lightly again outside. When Song Qing came out, she wasn't wearing a hat; she just buried most of her face in her scarf, and some of the fine snowflakes landed on her eyelashes.

It was so cold outside, and she didn't want to stick her hands out, so she just kept blinking.

Lu Yang, who had been silently observing her expression, looked away, but after a while he couldn't help but glance over again. After thinking for a moment, he put the hat on Song Qing's face.

The hat was very warm, with a thick layer of fur inside and two long ear flaps, but it was so big that it covered Song Qing's eyes.

Song Qing hesitated for a moment before accepting his kindness. It wasn't snowing when she came out, so she forgot about her hat. Lu Yang, with his thick skin, wouldn't be bothered by the cold for a while.

She stood there carefully shaking her head, trying to straighten her hat.

If you can straighten it, you won't need to stick your hand out.

She was thinking slowly, her head bobbing back and forth. Lu Yang noticed it quickly and was somewhat stunned.

After a while, he reached out with a slightly helpless expression and straightened her hat.

"Thanks."

Her mouth moved faster than her brain, and a thank you immediately popped out. Lu Yang's face tightened, but then he quickly returned to his usual aloof and unapproachable expression.

Their daughter is old enough to run errands, yet she still treats him with such indifference.

Lu Yang was still feeling frustrated when his daughter reached out her hand. "Mommy, let me blow on it for you."

An'an saw the snow on her mother's eyes and stretched out half her body to blow it on Song Qing, so Lu Yang could only hold his daughter and get closer to her.

The two were very close, and An'an held her mother's face with both hands, gently blowing air into her eyes.

Her small body swayed back and forth, and although she didn't look very big, she was surprisingly strong. Lu Yang could only carefully hold her waist, afraid of dropping her.

An'an was wearing the woolen gloves she had embroidered. Touching her face made it itchy, and with the warm breath she was blowing, Song Qing's eyes trembled incessantly.

Is An'an all better yet?

An'an took a deep breath, intending to blow on it for her mother, but to answer her mother's question, she first let out the breath. "Almost done, Mom, don't move."

He had no choice but to keep his eyes closed. When Lu Yang looked down, he could see her trembling eyes and her fair cheeks were slightly red from the cold. After looking at her for a few moments, he quickly turned his gaze to An An, but he couldn't help but glance at her face again.

After blowing a few more breaths, Song Qing finally couldn't hold it in any longer. She opened her eyes, her eyes brimming with undisguised joy. "Thank you, An'an."

Her eyes were bright and clear. The moment she opened them, Lu Yang seemed to see spring mountains spreading everywhere, even though it was still snowing.

But her eyes were like the mountains he had seen in the southwest, the first primeval forest he had ever seen with such lush vegetation and such clear colors.

He had just finished a mission and was lying on the vegetation in the forest, looking at the vines and trees, feeling the joy of surviving a disaster and the shock of being amazed.

He was still thinking, and he seemed to see the greenery covering the mountains and fields again, and for a moment he was stunned.

Song Qing was amused by An An. After opening her eyes, she kissed An An's little cheek, and An An couldn't help but giggle.

Looking up, she saw Lu Yang staring ahead with a blank expression. Thinking he was getting impatient, she quickly patted An'an's shoulder.

"Alright, let's go."

She took the first step, while Lu Yang remained rooted to the spot until An An patted his arm in dissatisfaction, at which point he quickly followed.

They were originally planning to return to the guesthouse, but as they were walking along the river between the old and new districts, Wang Minggui hurriedly caught up with them.

His military uniform was disheveled, his face bore several bloody marks, and even his hair was a mess.

"Old Lu, let's have a talk."

Wang Minggui's tone was pleading and embarrassed; he thought for a long time before deciding to speak.

Lu Yang nodded, handed An'an to Song Qing, and walked a short distance away with Wang Minggui.

"Old Lu, I know I'm sorry for what happened. I didn't expect your sister-in-law to be so determined to live in that new house. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have brought that up with her last night."

She's suffered a lot with me over the years, finally raising several children and seeing my mother off in her final days. I..."

Lu Yang listened quietly. This was the first time he had ever seen such a mixture of embarrassment and pain on Wang Minggui's face. They had shared so many joys and sorrows together.

You saved me, I saved you; the debt of gratitude for saving our lives is countless. Later, they were transferred to the Northeast, and all their other comrades were scattered in different places, but the two of them were still together.

"Go see if you can exchange it, I'll make up the difference."

Wang Minggui mentally rehearsed his words countless times before finally uttering them. After saying them, he felt embarrassed to look at Lu Yang's expression.

The two had never been so polite to each other before. They would just greet each other and use each other's things, and they would always let each other know if they needed anything.

Lu Yang stood there for a while, then said, "I'll go ask her opinion."

"Alright, alright, go ask your sister-in-law for her opinion."

He hadn't expected to actually say that, and his face was burning with embarrassment.

Zhou Lian threatened him with the child in her womb in that house, saying that if he didn't move her to an apartment building, she and her unborn child would die.

Song Qing held An'an and looked around listlessly. The river was not wide, and the surrounding area was covered with yellow ice blocks, but the middle was not frozen and there was still running water.

There was a stone bridge over the river, and they were standing on it. Not far away, there were several wooden bridges made of wooden sticks, covered with snow, which were probably no longer in use.
