Chapter 32 Sisters-in-law, Sister-in-law

After cleaning up the kitchen, Mu Yi'an handed the child over to her mother-in-law and went with Li Qiuniang to cut grass for the sheep.

"Second sister-in-law, do you think my sister-in-law will drink goat's milk?"

"I don't know. Whether we drink or not doesn't matter. We've done what we were supposed to do, and the rest is none of our business."

"That's true. Our parents are our parents, but they don't only have one child. Maybe we'll be like that in the future too; with more children, we'll have more to worry about."

Li Qiuniang also has other siblings, and her parents wouldn't only care about her.

Mu Yi'an glanced at Li Qiuniang. This person seemed carefree and straightforward, but she was quite insightful.

“My sister-in-law is very wise. In the future, we will try our best to treat our children equally and teach them a skill so that they can support themselves and their wives and children in the future. As for what kind of life they can live, that depends on their own abilities.”

Mu Yi'an doesn't believe that those who are doing well must help those who are doing poorly; she believes in providing emergency relief but not long-term support.

After cutting grass for the sheep but finding nothing of value, the two sisters-in-law went home.

After getting home, I fed the sheep grass, changed my clothes, and then washed them. I had a lot of dirty clothes when I came back yesterday.

"Mother, sister, please sit down."

"Really? Did your sister do it herself?"

"Yes, please sit down."

Shao Yun and Shao Kun were playing in front of their younger sister's crib when they suddenly saw her sit up on her own. They were very surprised and wanted to show their mother.

"My little sister is amazing! She'll learn to stand up, walk, and talk in the future, just like Shao Yun and Shao Kun!"

"Just as good!"

The two boys smiled so much their eyes narrowed when they heard the praise.

Mu Yi'an suddenly felt that the children were quite cute, adorably silly, and on a whim, she kissed each of the three little ones.

"Wow...haha..."

Even Chuyue, who was in her crib, giggled and clapped her little hands.

"Mother, Mother, brother, brother..."

After laughing enough, Shao Yun didn't forget his brother. He liked what his mother had done to him earlier and hoped his brother would do the same.

"So, you'll let your mother and brother have it too?"

"Kiss me!"

"Okay, when brother comes back, mother will give brother a kiss too."

Mu Yi'an patted each of the little ones on the head, letting them continue playing.

"You guys have fun, Mom's going to do the laundry. Call your dad if you need anything."

Mu Yi'an carried the clothes to the backyard to wash them.

"Second sister-in-law, thank you!"

"What?"

Mu Yi'an looked at Li Qiuniang, who was also carrying a basin, and didn't understand why she thanked her.

“Just now, you did the same thing to Shao Kun, making him feel like he was his brother and sister. This is the first time I’ve heard the child laugh so happily.”

Li Qiuniang happened to come out at that moment and saw her second sister-in-law talking to several children. She then bent down and kissed each of the three children, and Shao Kun did not miss out either. Her son smiled very happily.

"Oh, what's the big deal? Children are all adorable children."

"Anyway, I just want to thank you, really, Second Sister-in-law."

"Okay, I appreciate your thanks. Let's get to work; we still need to make lunch later."

"Yes, I'll fetch the water. I'm strong."

"Let's go together."

The two sisters-in-law in the backyard were chatting and laughing, which made Sister-in-law Jiang and Jiang Lan, who had just arrived, feel depressed. They stopped washing their clothes and turned back to the front yard.

"Sister-in-law, when did your second and third sisters-in-law become so close?"

"It's been a while, and suddenly we're like one person. Now, we cook together, cut grass for the sheep, and do everything together, leaving me all alone."

Jiang's sister-in-law started complaining to her sister-in-law about her two younger siblings, saying they really didn't take her, their eldest sister-in-law, seriously.

Jiang Lan looked down on her second and third sisters-in-law. Seeing them enjoying themselves and not taking her seriously made her unhappy.

No matter how upset the two sisters-in-law were, Mu Yi'an and her husband happily finished washing the clothes and started preparing lunch.

After lunch, the busiest part of the day, the afternoon is much more relaxed, and the children can take a nap while they rest.

"Mother, brother."

"Okay, Mom understands."

Shao Ming didn't understand what his younger brother meant, so he sat on the bed looking at his mother and then at his brother.

Mu Yi'an looked at the adorable little guy, kissed him on the cheek, and then kissed Shao Yun. The two boys rolled onto the bed with smiles on their faces, lay on the pillows, and laughed silently.

"Alright, go to sleep. Mom will go to sleep for a while too. I'm tired and need to rest."

"Okay, time to sleep."

Shao Yun waved to her mother, then lay down next to her brother and closed her eyes.

Mu Yi'an left the child's room and returned to her own. Chu Yue was already asleep. This little girl goes to sleep on time, which is very convenient.

In the evening, Mu Yi'an made dried fish that she had brought back from her parents' home. The soaked dried fish was marinated with seasonings and then pan-fried over low heat. It tasted quite good. She also made kelp, which was cut into thin strips, topped with minced garlic, and served as a cold dish. It was also very appetizing.

"Second sister-in-law, your seafood is so well cooked, it's not fishy at all. Next time I go back to my parents' home, I'll bring some back with me, and you can teach me how to cook it then."

"Okay, no problem. Eating seaweed can prevent goiter, that's what the book says."

Mu Yi'an couldn't say that kelp contains iodine, and at that time, she didn't have that concept either.

"Really? Books even write about things like that?"

Li Qiuniang was very surprised. She was literate, but she didn't like reading. She would get sleepy as soon as she started reading.

"Yes, there are many things written in the book."

Mu Yi'an had no choice but to push all the blame onto the book.

"Second sister-in-law, anyone who didn't know better would think you're going to take the imperial examination; you can't stop talking about reading."
