The sweltering heat persisted until the college entrance examination, without any change.

"Mother, is it thundering?"

Chuyue was a little scared, but she felt at ease when she saw her mother come in.

"Hmm, it's thundering, it might rain. Do you want to go to your parents' room? We don't know if it will thunder again later."

No sooner had Mu Yi'an finished speaking than thunder and lightning struck, and they all arrived.

"I went to my parents' room, but I was scared."

Chuyue slept alone, while a maidservant kept watch in the outer room at night; they did not sleep in the same room.

Jiang Shuyun slept in the outer room with the three adults, while Mu Yi'an took the three children to the inner room.

The children were terrified, as it was the first time they had ever experienced such loud thunder.

Now, I feel at ease being with my parents.

There are people on night duty in the courtyard; they'll call out if anything happens.

Everyone lay down. The thunder grew louder and closer, accompanied by lightning, which felt like it was exploding right above their heads.
