9 a.m. the next day.

Lu Ning arrived at the activity room on the third floor and found Qiu Yuelin, Wang Qiwen, and Wei Xuan all there.

Colin and Lin Xiao didn't seem to have gone back; they were still in the activity room.

Despite working the night shift, the two were still full of energy.

Seeing Lu Ning arrive, Wei Xuan greeted him with a smile, "Lu Ning, what brings you so late?"

Lu Ning said, "I didn't sleep well last night."

Wang Qiwen chuckled: "You weren't having a nightmare, were you? You seem fearless, but I didn't expect you to be such a scaredy-cat?"

Lu Ning opened his mouth to speak, when suddenly two streams of blood gushed from his ears, staining the floor red.

This made Lin Xiao and the others widen their eyes in surprise.

Lin Xiao frowned and asked worriedly, "Lu Ning, what happened to you? Are you injured?"

Lu Ning wiped the blood from his ear expressionlessly and shook his head: "No, I did it myself. It's nothing, I can recover."

Colin suddenly realized and looked at Wang Qiwen and the other two, saying, "Look at Lu Ning, he's always training his abilities. You've been here since this morning, and I haven't seen you train at all."

Wang Qiwen glanced at Lu Ning with a hint of resentment, then complained, "No, we worked so hard last night, what's wrong with taking a day off?"

Qiu Yuelin nodded in agreement.

Lin Xiao smoothed things over, saying, "Alright, Colin, Lu Ning is a special case after all. He doesn't have the problem of mental pollution. If others are so tense, the risk of disease will definitely increase."

Colin thought about it and agreed, nodding without saying anything more.

Lin Xiao looked at Lu Ning, then smiled and said, "Lu Ning, your salary has already been deposited into your card, did you see it?"

Lu Ning nodded, and then he saw Lin Xiao and the others staring straight at him.

“...Give me your account number, and I'll transfer the money back to you.”

Wei Xuan chuckled: "Got paid today, wanna play a few rounds?"

Wang Qiwen nodded: "I can."

Qiu Yuelin nodded as well.

They were all looking at Lu Ning.

Although they were just playing cards for fun and the amount of money involved each time was small, Lu Ning didn't use his brain when playing cards. As they played continuously, they accumulated small amounts and each of them won at least a thousand yuan from Lu Ning.

In Wei Xuan and the others' eyes, Lu Ning was a spendthrift.

Lin Xiao glanced at the group with annoyance, then said, "Lu Ning, now that you've received your salary, are you planning to rent a place?"

Lu Ning nodded: "Yes, I plan to go take a look."

Lin Xiao grinned: "I guessed you might be thinking of that, so when I was on night duty last night, I was bored and looked through all the available properties in the area. I selected four pretty good ones that I thought you might like. How about it, want to take a look?"

Lu Ning was taken aback, then said to Lin Xiao, "Okay, thank you, Captain."

Wang Qiwen said speechlessly, "Captain, sometimes you really are like an old woman."

Colin adjusted his glasses and smiled slightly: "You didn't say that last time when the captain helped you keep watch at night."

"Haha, we're all members of the action team, the closest fighting partners to each other. As the captain, it's my duty to help you if you need anything," Lin Xiao said with a smile.

As he spoke, he sent several listings to Lu Ning's phone.

Lu Ning clicked to view the options and then took a liking to one of the single apartments.

It's a one-bedroom, one-living room, one-bathroom apartment, fully furnished, never lived in, and less than a kilometer from the Seventh Branch, with shopping malls and food streets right next door.

As for the price, perhaps because of its good location and nice renovation, the monthly rent is four thousand.

The rent is more expensive than Lin Xiaofa's other two-bedroom apartment.

However, Lu Ning did not hesitate: "I plan to rent this one."

Lin Xiao leaned over for a look, then smiled and said, "I knew you'd like this one. It's the best place around here. If I were staying alone, I'd choose this one too."

Qiu Yuelin came over curiously to take a look.

Upon seeing the rent, she winced in pain: "Are you crazy?! Four thousand a month?! Is this house made of gold? Four thousand can rent a three-bedroom apartment elsewhere! Can't you rent something decent?"

Wang Qiwen didn't seem to care, saying, "We're all official team members now, with a basic salary of 100,000 a month. The rent of 4,000 isn't much."

Wei Xuan smiled and nodded, "This time I actually agree with Wang Qiwen's statement."

Colin adjusted his glasses and smiled, "It's good to enjoy yourself occasionally. After all, the missions of the action team are high-risk. If something unexpected happens, at least you won't regret not having enjoyed yourself."

The atmosphere became somewhat awkward after those words were spoken.

Wang Qiwen and his two companions gave Colin a resentful look.

Lin Xiao laughed and said, "Colin was just joking. But everyone has different opinions. Xiao Lin's idea is not wrong, and Lu Ning's idea is not wrong either. Being happy is the most important thing."

At this point, Lin Xiao paused, then smiled and said, "Since we don't have any missions today, why don't we go with Lu Ning to rent a place? I'll also treat everyone to a meal later to celebrate the addition of four new members to our Seventh Action Team, as a kind of welcome ceremony."

Qiu Yuelin immediately cheered, "Long live the captain!"

"Hahaha, Captain, you said it yourself! I want to eat well, I want a big meal!" Wang Qiwen rubbed his hands together eagerly.

Even Wei Xuan smiled.

Colin smiled, then his expression gradually darkened: "It's a pity Mu Mu can't come."

Lin Xiao's smile froze for a moment, then dimmed slightly.

Lu Ning asked, "How is she now?"
