...Ye Ningwan met Zhang Qin's suspicious gaze, a faint smile curving her lips as she clicked her tongue twice.
"You woke up so quickly? Looks like I wasn't harsh enough. I was too polite to you."
Zhang Qin felt a splitting headache, his mind replaying childhood memories that kept swirling around him. These memories intertwined with the events that had happened before he fainted, almost tearing his nerves apart.
Zhang Qin let out a painful groan, closed his eyes, and frowned so deeply that three deep furrows appeared between his brows.
After a long while, he slowly pulled his soul away from his past memories.
Zhang Qin opened his eyes, let out a long sigh, and turned his head to look out the window.
The sky outside was completely dark, and the only light coming from the streetlights as the car drove forward was the streetlights. The streetlights overhead would occasionally shine into the car, casting a flickering glow in the back seat.
He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, slowly straightened up and sat up, his face still burning with pain.
"Hiss—" Zhang Qin gasped, then, enduring the pain, questioned Ye Ningwan, "Where are you taking me?"
He had just been slapped dozens of times by Ye Ningwan, and then kicked a few times by her, and then he passed out.
This woman went way too far.
How could Pei Fengzhi like such a violent woman? How could he stand her!
Zhang Qin silently complained to himself, clearly displeased.
Looking at Zhang Qin's extremely disdainful gaze, Ye Ningwan could roughly guess that the man was internally criticizing her.
She didn't mind at all.
Zhang Qin hated herself, but how could she not hate this guy just as much?
"Don't you know the way? No way, no way, you don't even know this way?"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Qin suddenly struggled to sit up, exhausted, and leaned against the window, looking out with shock and disbelief in his eyes.
He suddenly turned around and questioned Ye Ningwan.
"You want to take me back to the old house? Ye Ningwan, what are you planning now? Let me tell you, don't even think about using me for anything. I will never betray the First Madam!"
He had finally found his mother, and he would never leave her, much less betray her.
These years have finally brought him a period of stability, and compared to the days before, this is already a very good thing.
He hated that woman, but he also loved her!
Just being by her side like this is enough.
Ye Ningwan smiled and patiently comforted Zhang Qin.
"Don't worry, I won't do anything. I was just about to tell you that your first wife has been temporarily locked up in the old house by the old master, and she probably won't be able to come out until Master Pei returns. But you were so agitated just now that you wouldn't let me finish speaking."
Zhang Qin frowned, glared angrily at Ye Ningwan, and growled at her in a harsh voice.
"Ye Ningwan, stop pretending to be a good person! Don't think I'll thank you for this!"
Ye Ningwan remained smiling, as if she didn't care at all about Zhang Qin's actions.
However, Grizzly in the driver's seat suddenly slammed on the brakes.
Caught off guard, Zhang Qin rolled off his seat, his forehead slamming heavily against the back of the driver's seat. His head, which had just begun to feel better, immediately started throbbing again. Dizzy and disoriented, he struggled to his feet and roared at the driver.
"How do you drive? Can you be a driver?"
Grizzly stopped the car, and his burly figure turned around from the driver's seat, casting a shadow like a mountain that completely enveloped the relatively thin, cultured-looking Zhang Qin.
Zhang Qin felt as if an invisible hand had gripped his throat, and in an instant, all his voice vanished from his throat.
The grizzly bear looked down at Zhang Qin with disdain, just like a real grizzly bear, as if it could slap Zhang Qin to death against the car window at any moment.
"Kid, you better treat our lady well. If I hear you spouting nonsense at her again, I'll slap you to death!"
After saying that, Grizzly turned around and ignored Zhang Qin completely.
The car started moving again.
Zhang Qin swallowed hard, straightened his clothes with lingering fear, and sat back down in his chair.
As soon as he sat down, he heard Grizzly Bear staring at him gruffly in the rearview mirror.
"If you don't want to go to the old house to see your mistress, I'll throw you down right now! That way I won't have to listen to your endless nagging on the way."
Zhang Qin nodded in agreement almost without hesitation.
"Oh no! I need to see the First Madam!"
Upon hearing this, the grizzly bear gave a cold snort of annoyance.
"Then hurry up and thank my lady! If it weren't for her, would you even be able to see the First Madam at this time?! You heartless wretch!"
Although Zhang Qin was extremely unwilling, he was forced by the intimidation of the grizzly bear to turn around and speak to Ye Ningwan in a cool tone.
"Thank you, Madam Jiu."
Although there wasn't a hint of gratitude in her words, Ye Ningwan was already quite pleased just to see Zhang Qin's disgusted expression.
She smiled radiantly, giving Zhang Qin a gentle and bright smile.
"You're too kind. It was just a small favor. I'm very grateful that Assistant Zhang understands my good intentions."
The way she said it made it sound like an elder wouldn't argue with an ignorant junior, which only made people angrier the more they listened.
But at that very moment, the grizzly bear let out a cold snort of annoyance.
