...The assistant swallowed hard, barely managing to speak when he saw Jiang Yinglin's almost murderous expression.
"Young Master Jiang, the most important thing right now is Ninth Master's injury. Let's put everything else aside for now!"
Jiang Yinglin gritted his teeth. What his assistant said was true, but why didn't he believe it?
"Are you sure that person is the Healer Immortal? She's been living in Country A for the past few years, only coming back occasionally, and she never shows her true face. It's not impossible that you've mistaken her for someone else!"
The assistant looked at Jiang Yinglin, who was still struggling to survive, with a puzzled expression. After all, he hadn't been in the ward and didn't know about the bet that Ye Ningwan and Jiang Yinglin had made.
He spoke hesitantly.
"But...but Zhang's steward Chang An accompanied her. The physician said that Young Master Jiang definitely wouldn't believe it was true, so he found someone to come and verify it."
Jiang Yinglin was so angry he was about to vomit blood. He was about to say something when Pei Fengzhi's soft voice came from behind him.
"Jiang Yinglin, you're a man of your word."
Jiang Yinglin gritted his teeth and ultimately stopped struggling.
However, he remained stubborn and said it.
"I need to be present throughout the entire surgery, otherwise I won't feel at ease."
The assistant didn't understand; with the legendary healer already here, what was there to worry about?
Perhaps because his assistant's speechless expression was too obvious, Jiang Yinglin blushed and tried to make amends by saying something to himself.
"I graduated with a doctorate from Capital Medical University and completed three years of advanced training at the Mayo Clinic in country A. What's wrong with me being curious and checking it out?!"
The assistant fell silent, not daring to provoke this ticking time bomb, and quickly went down to communicate and arrange the surgery.
Soon, Pei Fengzhi was pushed into the operating room by Jiang Yinglin himself.
In the operating room, the two met the legendary "healing immortal".
When Pei Fengzhi saw the face behind the huge mask, a dark glint flashed in his dark pupils, but he quickly concealed it, returning to his usual gentle indifference.
Jiang Yinglin's reaction was even stronger.
He pointed at Ye Ningwan standing in front of him, stammering repeatedly.
"You...you...you are the Immortal Healer!"
Ye Ningwan frowned and coldly interrupted his questioning.
"Shouting is strictly prohibited in the operating room. If you do it again, get out!"
Jiang Yinglin was scolded, but instead of getting angry, he shut up.
He looked the "healing immortal" up and down, barely suppressing his inner shock.
Unexpectedly, the Healer was not only a woman, but also a tall and slender young woman.
Although the other person was completely covered by thick surgical gowns and masks, Jiang Yinglin could clearly see from her eyes that this woman was definitely no more than 30 years old.
As the current person in charge of Fengmingxuan, Jiang Yinglin never expected that all the information he had was wrong!
Ye Ningwan naturally noticed that Jiang Yinglin was staring at her. She glanced at Jiang Yinglin and then gave the order.
"You will be my assistant."
Her words carried the air of a superior's command, like an old professor ordering his subordinates around. But Jiang Yinglin showed no sign of dissatisfaction at all, obediently stepping forward to stand beside Ye Ningwan, completely devoid of the arrogant and disdainful demeanor he had displayed towards Ye Ningwan earlier.
Ye Ningwan knew very well that Jiang Yinglin, though seemingly carefree, was actually someone who admired strength; only by being stronger could he earn the respect of others.
At that time, Pei Fengzhi was already lying on the operating table, and everything was ready.
Ye Ningwan's cold command was concise and efficient.
"Apply anesthetic."
But Pei Fengzhi, who had been quiet all along, suddenly stopped the anesthesiologist.
"No anesthesia needed."
The anesthesiologist was taken aback and looked at Ye Ningwan as if seeking help.
Ye Ningwan also frowned and warned.
"In my opinion, those who don't follow the conventional path always end up in a terrible state."
Pei Fengzhi remained as gentle as ever, yet even so, his powerful aura was not suppressed by Ye Ningwan in the slightest.
“The anesthetic didn’t work for me; it just made me feel worse.”
Ye Ningwan understood.
"You have a high tolerance to anesthetics and are allergic to them."
Pei Fengzhi smiled helplessly.
"Let's just have the surgery. I can handle it."
Ye Ningwan shook her head, turned around and walked out.
In an instant, everyone in the operating room who had prepared everything couldn't help but tense up.
Jiang Yinglin was the one who was most worried.
Why did she leave? Was she angry?
After all, although the other information about Fengmingxuan is incorrect, there is one thing that is well known: this physician has a very bad temper.
She doesn't treat people she doesn't like, she doesn't treat people when she's in a bad mood, and she doesn't treat people who have offended her.
This expert has done this more than once or twice: he's abandoned his work midway through a consultation because of a conflict with the patient.
However, as far as Jiang Yinglin knew, the previous incidents were either due to discovering that patients were disregarding human life or due to other character issues; there had never been a case of turning away because a patient had an allergic reaction to anesthetic.
Just as Jiang Yinglin was anxiously considering how to coax the person back, he saw the voice in surgical scrubs enter with a cup of dark brown herbal juice.
Jiang Yinglin asked curiously.
"What's this?"
Ye Ningwan held the cup to Pei Fengzhi's lips.
"This is anesthetic powder, drink it."
Ye Ningwan originally intended for Pei Fengzhi to catch it with his hand, but the man suddenly stretched out his neck and drank the entire cup of anesthetic from Ye Ningwan's hand.
After finishing his drink, Pei Fengzhi gave Ye Ningwan a gentle smile.
"The healer is so considerate."
