...Ye Ningwan's heart suddenly raced as Li Mochuan stared at her.
Li Mochuan's dark eyes seemed to contain a vortex, so dangerous it could almost suck one's soul in.
Ye Ningwan subconsciously avoided Li Mochuan's gaze, feeling uneasy.
Did Li Mochuan realize something?
Just as Ye Ningwan was worrying, Li Mochuan suddenly asked.
"Ye Ningwan, are you afraid of me?"
Li Mochuan's words made Ye Ningwan even more vigilant. She gripped the balcony railing even tighter, her knuckles turning slightly white from the excessive force, making them exceptionally distinct.
Ye Ningwan bit her lower lip tightly, not saying a word.
Li Mochuan glanced at Ye Ningwan's hand, smiled, and said in a low voice.
"It seems you are indeed very afraid of me."
Li Mochuan released Ye Ningwan's arm, took two steps back, sighed helplessly, and said to Ye Ningwan.
"Ye Ningwan, you don't need to be afraid of me! What can I do to you? I'm more afraid that that madman Pei Fengzhi will keep bothering me!"
Upon hearing Pei Fengzhi's name, Ye Ningwan finally relaxed a little.
She managed to stand up straight, took a deep breath, and her wildly beating heart gradually calmed down. She tried her best to speak calmly to Pei Fengzhi.
"How could that be? Mr. Li has already taken me in out of kindness. I'm so grateful to you, why would I be afraid of you?"
Li Mochuan listened to Ye Ningwan's words without comment.
"That's good. Pei Fengzhi and I are good brothers, so naturally I treat you as my sister-in-law. If there's anything I can help you with, just let me know."
As Li Mochuan spoke, he patted Ye Ningwan on the shoulder.
"I won't bother you any longer."
After saying this, Li Mochuan turned and left the balcony.
Just as he was about to step onto the balcony, Li Mochuan suddenly stopped and turned to look at Ye Ningwan standing there.
"Ye Ningwan, haven't we met somewhere before? You seem very familiar to me."
Ye Ningwan smiled and shook her head.
"I've never seen you before. I have a very good memory; I've never seen you before."
Li Mochuan nodded, seemingly lost in thought.
Just as Ye Ningwan breathed a sigh of relief, Li Mochuan suddenly took out something.
"And this one? Miss Ye, have you seen this jadeite double dragon pendant before?"
The look of surprise in Ye Ningwan's eyes was fleeting.
She never expected that Li Mochuan would take out the jade pendant with two dragons right in front of her.
She glanced at the jade pendant with two dragons in Li Mochuan's hand, then looked away with a puzzled expression.
"What is this? The jade quality looks quite good. Is it an antique? It looks quite nice. I wonder if Mr. Li is willing to sell it? If so, could you sell it to me? You can name your price."
Li Mochuan couldn't help but laugh when he heard Ye Ningwan say that.
He turned his palm and put away the jade pendant with two dragons, then looked at Ye Ningwan with a smile.
"Oh, I've never seen this before? Well, there's nothing I can do about it. This is very important to me, and it seems I can't part with it. But if Miss Ye likes it, I'll keep an eye out for it for you. If the auction house has something similar, I'll contact you."
Ye Ningwan smiled and nodded, her expression unreadable.
“Okay, then I’ll leave it to you, Mr. Li. Please go ahead…”
After Ye Ningwan finished speaking, she gestured for Li Mochuan to leave.
Li Mochuan left without the slightest hesitation, turning around and stepping away from the balcony.
Li Mochuan walked out of the room, and his assistant was waiting for him in the corridor.
"Mr. Li."
Li Mochuan nodded to his assistant and gave him instructions.
"Have you found out? About the origin of that jadeite double dragon pendant?"
The assistant nodded hesitantly, and after a moment's hesitation, spoke to Li Mochuan.
"We've found something..."
Li Mochuan's sharp gaze pierced his assistant, his tone unusually harsh.
"Speak your mind!"
The assistant glanced up at the open door, then carefully lowered his voice and spoke to Li Mochuan.
"Let's talk in private."
Li Mochuan pondered for a moment, then turned around and pushed open the door to the next room. His assistant immediately followed.
"Speak, what's going on?"
The assistant glanced at the closed door before whispering to Li Mochuan, "You guessed right, someone in Jiangcheng has indeed seen the jade pendant with two dragons that you've been looking for."
Li Mochuan's eyes lit up, and he immediately asked.
Where have I seen you before?
The assistant immediately replied.
"At a dinner party of the Ye Group a few years ago, someone saw this jade pendant with two dragons around the neck of Ye Ruoxin, the young lady of the Ye family."
Li Mochuan frowned, pondering what his assistant had said.
"Ye Ruoxin? Is that Ye Ningwan's nominal younger sister?"
The assistant nodded.
"It's that Ye Ruoxin. That woman is quite flamboyant. She said that Pei Minghan bought it at the auction and gave it to her."
As the assistant spoke, he moved a chair and placed it behind Li Mochuan.
Li Mochuan sat down as he pleased.
"What she said? What's the reality?"
The assistant chuckled, a hint of mockery in his eyes, and said irritably.
“I sent people to investigate, and Pei Minghan never bid on such a jade pendant.”
Li Mochuan rested his chin on his hand and asked thoughtfully.
"You mean, this jade pendant belongs to Ye Ruoxin herself?"
The assistant nodded slightly, then shook his head.
"It's possible that it belonged to Ye Ruoxin herself, but there's another possibility: that the jade pendant was indeed given to Ye Ruoxin by Pei Minghan, but Pei Minghan concealed the origin of the jade pendant."
