"Ninth Master..."

Pei Fengzhi sat on the sofa drinking tea. Standing in front of him was the bodyguard who had been with Xiaoxing at noon, who was respectfully reporting to him in detail what had happened after Xiaoxing left the private room.

“After the child left the private room, he received a phone call and then said that he didn’t need me to take him back, that he could go back by himself.”

Pei Fengzhi raised an eyebrow, took a sip of tea, put down the teacup, and lightly tapped the table with his fingertips.

"His mother came to pick him up?"

The bodyguard nodded.

"About an hour after we came down from upstairs, a taxi pulled up in front of the Imperial Mansion. A woman got out; she looked very young, quite pretty, and petite. As soon as the child saw her, he excitedly rushed over and hugged her affectionately. She must have been the child's mother. They left quickly after that."

Pei Fengzhi was slightly surprised.

Little Star's appearance is outstanding among her peers, even to the point where she could debut as a child star. Such looks must come from her parents' genes.

However, the bodyguard said that the woman who came to pick up Xiaoxing was an extremely ordinary-looking woman, which was beyond Pei Fengzhi's expectations.

The bodyguard thought he had misheard. What a miracle it was that Master Pei, who had never been interested in women, had suddenly started to care about a woman he had never seen before.

The bodyguard thought about it again and realized that something seemed off about Ninth Master ever since he woke up from his vegetative state.

He initially doted on his ninth wife, whom he had married to ward off bad luck, treating her like a precious treasure.

They're practically someone you'd hold in your hands for fear of dropping them, someone you'd keep in your mouth for fear of melting them.

If it weren't for the fact that this person in front of him gave off the exact same vibe as the previous Master Pei, the bodyguard would almost have thought that this person had been possessed by some strange entity.

Pei Fengzhi frowned at the bodyguard's reaction and gave him a cold glance.

"I'm asking you a question!"

Pei Fengzhi had a headache. Jiang Yinglin had been sent out to do some work and would be away from Jiangcheng for the next few days.

Perhaps it's time to bring back those guys he sent abroad back then, otherwise he'll always be hesitant to do things, and he'll have to explain things to his subordinates for ages before giving them any instructions.

The bodyguard realized his mistake and immediately said to Pei Fengzhi.

"I...I'll send someone to investigate immediately!"

Pei Fengzhi sighed softly, waved to the bodyguard, and said indifferently.

He was simply puzzled by the child's sudden appearance in the private room. After all, the child had said he was looking for his mother, but by sheer coincidence, he appeared in the room and even managed to hide under the table, avoiding everyone else.

Pei Fengzhi always felt that there was a relationship between that child and Ye Ningwan, but this was just his guess.

Moreover, the bodyguard saw it; the child's mother came to pick up the little one herself.

He's probably overthinking things.

Pei Fengzhi's well-defined fingers gently caressed the rim of the teacup, his eyes gradually darkening.

The rain was drizzling outside the window, but the brightly lit living room of the villa was completely silent. Although there were quite a few people in the living room, no one dared to make the slightest noise to disturb Pei Fengzhi while he was deep in thought.

A dark cloud drifted over, the rain intensified, obscuring the moonlight and making the sky appear gloomy and frightening.

At that moment, the villa gate was pushed open, and a rough, hearty laugh was like a sudden rainstorm hitting a calm lake, stirring up the water and making a loud crackling sound.

"Ninth Master, I'm back!"

Pei Fengzhi heard a familiar voice and looked up at the person who walked in.

The man was dressed in a black leather jacket. He was about 188 cm tall, with a burly build, a thick neck, broad shoulders, and a thick back. His upper body was covered by the black leather jacket, and underneath he wore a tight-fitting vest of the same color, which clearly showed the outline of his bulging muscles and his erect lines.

The man looked to be in his late thirties or early forties, but he didn't have the same appearance as Pei Fengzhi or Jiang Yinglin. Instead, he was rugged and exuded masculine hormones. He had a stubble beard, thick lips with a slightly dark color, a high and straight nose, deep-set eyes, and thick, black eyebrows that looked like wild, tangled weeds, mottled and untamed, with a few hairs growing everywhere.

The man carried a black backpack weighing about 20 or 30 pounds on his shoulder. A backpack that would normally require both shoulders to carry was now being slung over his shoulder with one hand, and he swaggered in without any regard for his image.

He opened his arms wide, as if he were seeing a long-lost friend, and was about to pounce on Pei Fengzhi to give him a brotherly bear hug.

The next second, a hand grabbed the back of the man's collar and pulled him back sharply.

"Grizzly Bear, watch your manners in front of Ninth Master. Don't be rude, or Ninth Master will chop off your two paws and make them into bear paws!"

That was clearly a woman's voice, sounding heroic and spirited.
